Headcanon: The ironworks is definitely a front for something much more illegal.

The banter between you two is what I love most about these videos.

This episode went from “Mavis and Thomas are pals” to “Arry, Bert, Bill, Ben and Fergus are being hidden at Ffarquhar Quarry because the ironworks manager got the other managers to invest in pizza on a stick which crashed their businesses and Jon Ironworks is on the run for tax evasion” strangely quickly.

They have returned when the world needed them most character Gallery is back in business. I absolutely enjoyed this one you guys and I can't wait to see more.

imagine at some point mavis is just ABSOLUTELY OVERWHELMED, where fergus is trying to order around bill and ben, bill and ben are trying to total arry and bert, and ARRY AND BERT are trying to scrap bill, ben, AND fergus, and mavis is just like "you know what, enough is enough," and she blasts her horn AS LOUD AND LONG AS IT WILL GO, and it ECHOES ALL AROUND THE QUARRY, and maybe even down the valley to ffarquhar station and sheds, and thomas looks over at the others and he just nonchalantly says "sounds like a quarrel at the quarry again," which is even MORE hilarious because it means that mavis REGULARLY gets SO MAD at the other industrial engines that she is FREQUENTLY BLOWING HER HORN SO LOUD THAT SHE CAN BE HEARD ALL THE WAY DOWN THE LINE AT THE FFARQUHAR SHEDS.

I think this may be one of the best episodes yet. The other company engines coming to Ffarquhar is brilliant and I love imagining Mr Ironside as this faux Grunkle Stan character. Here's to more analytical laughs 🍻

Oh my goodness this entire bit with all the small railway companies was hilarious, it seems like improv comes naturally to you two! I've got no qualms with this new schedule, whatever it takes to just have such great episodes like this in existence is fine by me.

the parts with Mr. Ironside wear the best, i went through them with a wide smile on my face, nearly cracking up

I like to think of Toby and Mavis’s dynamic, especially in season 3, as a tired father and a punk daughter, and I feel like there’s a lot of story potential with that. For example, maybe a story where a truck driver, in the fault, crashes into and yells at Mavis, and Toby Laughs and congratulates Mavis when the truck driver eventually gets whats his. Or a story about Toby due to his age, can’t take freight cars back to Ffarquhar anymore, so Mavis is assigned to take over his duties, and to make Toby feel better from losing that job, Mavis asks to see if he help her shunt in the Quarry.

I never expected to be howling so much from a character gallery about Mavis. This was hilarious 😂 marvellous work as always

YEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy to see you return with this series! I missed you all through last year! I felt I figured you were busy given Lemmy's video on his channel and his projects with others if I understand. I"m so excited to hear what you have to say about Mavis. Mavis was a really sweet engine. I loved her in the series. I remember one time when I left my ERTL Mavis when I was shopping with my dad, and cried and cried until we turned around and went back. Thankfully she was right where I left her and she's still at home with my ERTL collection. I always liked her more than Daisy because she felt unique to the few female characters we got in the first four seasons. You got Annie and Clarabelle who are submissive and sweet, Daisy who's just such a diva and rude, and you got Mavis the middle ground between them who's goes from feisty teenager to the mother figure who's keeping Bill and Ben under control when they get transfered to the quarry.

I thought this series was dead, I'm so happy to see it back! Maybe I could even do one of these one day lol

These are great videos to listen to on long drives places. They keep from being bored on the journey. Listened to the Scruff one on my way somewhere and this one on the way back

yOOOOOOOOOOOOO ITS BACK I literally got hooked on this a couple weeks ago and I'm so glad it's back, analysing characters is one of my favourite hobbies and I love watching you guys explore them. Can I suggest doing Sir Handel next? He's one of my favourite characters to analyse, there's a lot more to him than people think.

Imagine that the quarry starts making money again BECAUSE it has ALL the industrial engines on sodor working at it, & then Sir. Topham finally comes in and fixes Mr. Ironside's mess, & now all the other engines go back to their respective industries, and now Mavis is left to manage a quarry that's 5 times bigger than it was before this all started all by herself, but since the quarry has made so much money lately they can actually afford to BUY another engine or 2, maybe even some of Mavis's brothers & sisters, & then finally Mavis has REAL protege's that she can take under her wing, & show them how the quarry runs, and finally it becomes not just a successful quarry, but a proper Industrial railway in in its own right. it was always a BUISNESS of course, but now it becomes a proper, fully fledged industrial railway, with Mavis and her siblings working together to keep it running like clockwork, & I bet they have plenty of wonderful misadventures, why, you could write a whole Spin-Off Series about it I'd bet, I would totally watch that, and it would give Mavis a LOT more time in the spotlight one thing's for sure, it'd be a lot better than all engines go, but then, 🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵WE DON'T TALK ABOUT ALL-EN-GINES-GO-OH, WE DON'T SPEAK OF IT-OH-NOOOOOOOOOO,🎵🎵🎶.

OMG it’s back. That’s 2 weekly uploads on community radio in a row. I’m glad this channel isn’t dead it’s only dormant. If everyone at community radio has college families or jobs that takes priority over RU-vid. When you guys are ever struggling to make use of time that’s the best time to film videos or record podcasts or RU-vid radio shows. I’ve always appreciated Mavis’s character arc from season 3-7. I couldn’t care about all the characters after season 8 but Season 3 episode Mavis to season 6 episode buffer bashing shows such a maturity. That’s how you write characters Mattel

The idea about Arry and Bert making a pact with Bill, Ben, and Fergus can go so well, yet so badly at the same time, cause we got essentially 2 murders paired with the penguins of Madagascar/anamaniacs engine equivalents and Fergus, I couldn't come up with a good enough comparison for him. Like just imagine if arry, Bert, bill, and Ben wanted to pull some pranks on the others with the china clay twins in the tunnels and the ironworks twins just trying to scare the other engines, then Fergus comes along and ruins the whole setup! That be very funny to watch I think.

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ITS BACK BAYBEEEEE

Mavis becoming more grown up and more of a leader after Toby's Tightrope would be fine, but I feel like in her later appearances they really just syphoned out any of her classic spunk. And I really don't like the sort of "motherly" approach they go with her, especially in the CGI Series in episodes like Thomas the Quarry Engine. It fits well enough when she's with Bill and Ben, since they kinda need parental supervision of some kind, but her acting that way towards Thomas just doesn't work for me. Though admittedly that's more of an issue of Thomas being infantilized in the later series than anything. Her growth would be more palpable if we got to see it a little more. She goes from "young but capable, feisty yet clever" to just a kinda typical wise friendly type completely off screen, and I'm not super duper into that. But that's just my take on the TV Series' handling of her. It's dope to see the series in swing again! I'm all for the "uncensored" approach to this! Longer episodes are honestly the way to go if you ask me. The tangents always provide interesting or if nothing else at least entertaining new interactions and ideas, and this way it's not like we have to lose any of that, or sacrifice the more prime content of the character, so thumbs up from me! Side note, as far as when James first met Mavis, it would have to have been before he came around to diesels fully, since he mentions her in James & the Diesel Engines, and comments on her appearance at that.

One thing I like to add is that maybe Salty isn’t even his real name, perhaps it’s a name that he called himself during his seafaring adventures travelling from harbour to harbour. Perhaps he changed it due to being on the run from the cutter’s torch, changing liveries in order to get BR off his buffers. Sort of like a piratey Oliver. Unlike Oliver though where his escapades are well-known, Salty likes to keep them a secret. I also see a practical use in his cap rim, it’s to keep the sun out from his eyes when he worked in the hottest harbours outside of the UK like when he went to Africa or Mexico.

I think they are right about Mavis having no personal ties to the NWR

Thoroughly enjoyed this! Mind you, I'd prefer if you'd actually talked more about Mavis, than the interactions of the various Bussiness-owners on Sodor. While they were entertaining, maybe discussions like those ought to be saved for when discussing their characters. Just a thought. Although I did like how this nearly ran for an hour! Had it not, and been cut down, there would've been even less discussion of Mavis.
