If you've ever needed a hand, enjoyed events in the downtown, at the parks, or at the fairgrounds, or got to take part in activities offered by the many non-profits here in Shelby County, then you know that this community is filled with some of the most generous people out there!
Over the course of this last week, we've been reflecting on generosity, and while there are so many people that exude this character trait, Julius Joseph is a person whose legacy is still visible and can be visited today!
One of the focal points of Shelbyville's downtown over the few decades and throughout the 1920s-1950s was the Joseph Fountain, which was erected from a generous gift of $5,000 (or just under $65,000 today) from Mr. Joseph for the construction of the fountain in the center of Public Square.
