I surfed Brontë in winter 82 loved it one day surfed like this but a bit more peaky and makeable lm only writing this because l scored it with only two other blokes hard to imagine but true even then it was normally a lot more guys out😊
I never saw Bronte quite like this before. I spent years watching/surfing Tama and Bronte. I remember 2 waves distinctly. One was Beau Day at big Tama. He took one from about 50m south and out from the reef on a double up pumper. He was going right! Looked like he was speeding towards the rocks and just fukkn launched it on a big, sucky close out section. First and biggest air rev I've ever seen on a bodyboard. Circa 1998. Second was some local punter on a massive sand bar really close to the rocks on the north side of Bronte, again going right. Toward the rocks. This thing just sucked up so much sand then turned pure green and I saw the look of stoke on his face from the cliffs. It looked very similar to the one at 2:33. Imagine that one, but bigger and moving faster and further north. Anyway. That thing was perfect. This here just looks fukkn gnarly!
Yep, quite recently it had a lot of sand then a big swell came through and it was gone. Amazing how quickly it disappeared. Could be years before we see it like that again.
