Apparently she lost her spleen due to a car accident in 2009. She suffered a collapsed lung, damaged two vertebrae, and broke her wrist, four ribs, and an elbow. she developed a lung infection somehow and within a matter of hours she unfortunately passed. The spleen helps fight infections faster. I'm so sorry she had to go so soon. Rip and my condolences to her family
Yes, I really didn't know that the spleen is that important but apparently if you lose your spleen there's a 1-5% lifetime risk to develop a life threatening infection that your immune system is incapable of fighting off.

I was so excited about Betty White's 100th birthday, her party they had planned for her, etc... and then she died right before it. Hit me hard, and I didn't even know her... but I felt like I did. She reminded me of my Grandma. Life sux sometimes.

My daughter died at a very young age. She was 23 and had an undetected heart problem. Today would have been her 25th birthday. Death does not discriminate.

There is not such a thing "sudden death", unless it is an accident. If health related, the human body shows syntoms before shutting down. The fact that they are not disclosing how she died, someone is hiding something, must be something quite embarrassing enough for the family not to disclose.

This is devastatingly sad. Sure, one may “die” from a “sudden illness,” but perhaps it was an overdose. Because we really die from how it affects our body, our heart stops. So it had to have been something very serious. The only thing I can say is perhaps addiction (I’m in recovery) or it was something else and Im completely wrong. I think I just read that it was a connection with a car accident she had in 2009 where she lost her spleen. And apparently our spleens help us fight infection? Thankfully I do not believe it involves drugs or addiction. ( I'm in recovery too 7 years.)
