There's such a thing as psychosomatic issues. Sometimes thinking you'll have a disease leads to showing symptoms of that disease. Some issues are also environmental (like Mono) so Boyle would have some issues his cousins have, which would lead him to believe he has ALL health issues just like his cousins.
@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849 Not all health conditions are genetic. In fact, most of them are due to food and lifestyle choices which Charles shares with his cousins.
RIGHT?! I would've even taken a line from Boyle or cousin Sam giving a reason why Gina couldn't make it. I mean it sounds like they made it to the 7 hour skype call!
Even without the One True Boyle thing, I’m sure Charles would have come to terms with this eventually. After all, he has an adopted son and I’m sure that he’s raising him as a Boyle. It would have been nice to see some of his nicer family members reassure him.
In my opinion, writers messed up with this.They did it purely for shock value and it sort of fell flat since it was too late in the show to really have an impact. Being Boyle is his whole personality and making him have and then overcome his identity crisis in 10 minutes... was rushed and underwhelming.
Yeah, this shoulda been stretched over like half of a seaon, Idk which one's would support the timeline needed though, as I juts watch RU-vid clips, and not the actual show.
@@PastelN01r same, but I think this should have been something that's more than one episode. Though I think if the writers had enough time and had more episodes to write, they likely would.
@@PastelN01r it just feels little rushed to me. Maybe if his journey were more prolonged and thus as realistic as the rest of the show tries to be, and was stretched over a coupla episodes, 4 at the most, I'd be able to swallow it easier, but as it stands, quite literally everything about Charles has his Boyle upbringing in it somewhere. It's strange for such a huge departure of normalcy to be graced over so quickly irl
I understand why they felt the need to re-write season 8 after all the stuff went down with policing in America but it sucks that so many of the episodes feel underwhelming in the very last season :(
If this episode really ended with him not being a Boyle, this is the episode that gets skipped in the binge. The Office had Scott's Tots, Community had most of season 4, Workaholics had that weird acid trip technology paranoia where Blake went on a scifi rant, 99 has this.
I may not agree on the rest, but I too am refusing to consider this as canon. It feels like a last minute throwaway idea that was meant to make the last season feel eventful
Scott’s tots wasn’t a bad episode tho. It was meant to be cringe, and it definitely succeeded in that. Imo, the office episode that gets skipped would be most of s8 and 9. That’s just my opinion tho.
Scotts Tots was meant to showcase that Erin (if that's how it's spelled) could replace Pam as Michael's secretary. Which she proves by the end by comforting Michael in the car.
@@dr.science_0177 It does to him. His whole identity is built around being Boyle, haven't you watched the show? Also, why does he need to be "humbled"??? He is who he is. And learning your father is not your bio father is not "humbling", it's shocking and maybe even devastating to some. Get a grip. Anyway, he opened the jar in the end so he is far from being "humbled"..
I hate to say it but a lot of the NBC era did more harm than good (where they damaged their show/characters for plots/jokes that really weren't worth it) I'm not saying every ep was bad (because there were some Gems like Ticking Clocks, Hitchcock and Scully, Trying and Golden Child) but tbh if the show ended during Fox I think I would remember it more fondly than I will now
@@FalconFlyer75 I agree with you wholeheartedly. Seasons 6,7 and 8 were underwhelming. Under Fox , the show had an edge which I believed it has lost since. The characters seem dramatized and they appear like they have become caricatures of themselves , at least in some of the episodes There are some great standalones , though

So disappointed with this story line - Charles not being a Boyle. Just a poor choice on behalf of the writers. Just as in the season’s first episode Rosa laments the crimes by the NYPD but than breaks the law by breaking into one of the offices. To find evidence of wrongdoing by policemen, yes, I understand, but you cannot call out someone for doing illegal actions and then go ahead and do something illegal yourself.
RU-vid is weird. I bought all of season 8. But the episode 7 that cane out is a different episode. It's the Renewal. So I have no idea when I will watch this episode
