A history lesson from a beautiful and classy lady. Fascinating and kept my attention throughout. I could listen and learn for much longer periods though. Pity my history teachers were so poor when I was growing up decades ago.
My direct ancestor was “Groom of the Bedchamber” to King Charles I. His brother was Dean of Exeter, and Royal Chaplain to Queen Elizabeth and King James
King Charles I of course wasn't murdered. He underwent a trial, was found guilty, and was executed according to the law at the time. We simply cannot use the word 'murdered' in this context.
I suppose that would depend on one's perspective. From the King's perspective, all of his deeds, including during the Civil War, were perfectly legal ... had his troops captured Cromwell, his execution would would have been legal. But Cromwell's troops captured the King, and he was put on trial, convicted, and executed, by the laws that Parliament had enacted.
