Yeah but the main mistake was winning so much. Nobody wouodve batted an eye if he went with 32k 64k or maybe even 125. He couldve agreed beforehand get the 32k by coughing then take his chances with a free guess and no coughing.
Thou shall not Steal .Have you ever lied even once, stolen anything, used God’s name in vain, looked with lust or worse sexual sins? Then you’re not a good person in God’s eyes and in danger of the judgement of God which will send you to hell (a terrible place of pain and sadness FOREVER & EVER & EVER & EVER….). Remember God is the Holiest such that one small lie will induce his severe wrath. Good news is Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead so that you may receive forgiveness of AALL YOUR SINS (No matter how bad or how many). But you aren’t forgiven unless you REPENT OF YOUR SINS & BELIEVE IN JESUS AS YOUR GOD (repentance means turning from sin and doing your absolute best not to do it again, also ask Jesus to rid you of addictions that you’re struggling to shake away-James 4:7). God has blessed us with Great food to eat (kings in the past don’t eat like we do today), shelter, freedoms, fun, medicine, pets to enjoy their company, friends, nice music to listen to and many more things to enjoy. Yet we don’t give him thanks, blaspheme his HOLY name etc God wants to give the free gift of eternal life (9999999999999999999999999… years of extreme happiness) but we need to humble ourselves and turn from our wicked way. Believe in Jesus (God wants to have a relationship with you-like a father and his children). Tim Wright I remember seeing a few articles and videos about it and they said she was using a phone or electronic device to get the answers. How else would she get the answers quickly?? It yeah either way they’re so ghetto and fake
The main mistake was he got too far for greed , if you win a million dollars you are in news channels , papers , magazines everywhere and someone IS going to figure it out , the smart thing would be to just cheat till nobody doubts and leave.
Exactly From what it seems, he might’ve gotten away with it had he quit at 125 or even 250. The obvious U-turns and him not even aware of the answers yet somehow miraculously knowing which one is right. Diana’s reaction afterwards is jarring as well. She didn’t look like someone reacting normally to seeing her husband win a million pounds .
everyone was coughing and clapping at the time so the investigators told the producers to drown all the audio down but amplify the cougher, the fraudster and the hosts microphone. This is why we hear the coughs so well and think it's so obvious.
@@laylahahmad6468Because seeing some people not wearing masks, not keeping their distance and going out frequently, it shows that they just don't give a shit about it now.

Irrelevant unless the other 173 coughs could reasonably be linked to either an answer being discussed or given/changed. Ingram was a spud who miraculously changed his answers to people and things he'd literally never heard of. Coughing at strategic times. The fact so many people in his/his family's circle were contestants. Coincidence? Occam's Razor says no. He and his wife are cheats and liars--feel free to Google them you'll see what sleazy people they are.
@@Marymead2, exactly right, which is why the other 173 coughs were irrelevant--when taken with all the other things happening (i.e., the context), those coughs were meaningless. The 19 submitted as evidenced were directly linked to specific questions and actions taken by Charles Ingram. Sometimes a cough is just a cough; sometimes, it's not.

"I think it might be a nanomole or a gigabit, so by process of elimination I think it's Googol because I don't know what it is, unlike the others which I also don't know and think might be it". Great logic that Charles.
The last question was ridiculous anyway....a million dolllars....anyone who has the basic of computer knowledge or high school knows what a nano mega giga is....so the answer was tooooooo easy!!!
His biggest mistake - not knowing when to keep his mouth shut about what he does and doesn't know. If he'd practiced that before hand he'd have been fine
@@dar1020 Back in 2003, Google wasn't even a thing, Facebook didn't even exist, the internet as we know it today was mostly in it's infancy. No smart phones and the most powerful console on the planet was the N64, computers had megabytes of memory. Today we all know what Google is and what it means.
Some people are saying that the coughing was exaggerated in this recording and the coughs were cherry picked in order to make it obvious. The coughs were not the only reason that the jury found them guilty of cheating: 1. The first few rounds he struggled with a lot of the questions and used 2 lifelines way too early. The production didn't expect him to make it much farther. When he came back, these struggles all but disappeared. 2. For each question he read all of the answers out loud in slow procession ... multiple times. I've never seen another contestant do this. 3. He was given questions that he clearly did not know the answers to, changed his answers out of shit nowhere, and they always ended up being correct. 4. His demeanor in those few split seconds of anticipation where you find out if an answer is correct or not does not seem normal. He seems very calm, and most contestants look incredibly anxious and scared in those moments. It's because he knew the answers were correct before it was officially confirmed. 5. His wife can be seen looking at Techwin Whittock multiple times during the recording, enough times that it was not a coincidence. 6. His wife's behavior after they won the money was not behavior to be expected from someone who's husband just won a million pounds. If anything, she looks like she is nervous and scared. 6. He and his wife got into a huge argument backstage after the taping, which is totally not normal for anyone who just won that much money. A lot of people suspect that it was because he had played on much farther than he agreed to go, and now it was totally obvious that they cheated.
Also the recorded phone call of Charles being told by a producer that he's not getting the cheque because the police are investigating irregularities, no details given, and he quickly and calmly wraps up the conversation without asking any questions at all. Besides, the same one person was noticed by two eye witnesses to be coughing only at those times, and turning his face towards the hotseat with each cough.
Additionally, it was only towards the end of that phone call with the producers that he declared his innocence. Normally if someone is wrongly accused of something large like that, they get incredibly defensive from the out right. “I did not do that!” “You have the wrong person!” His response: “obviously I complete disagree with those statements, they are false” in a very calm demeanor.
No question, she was completely rattled and knew they were screwed, their was no joy whatsoever in her demeanor, if anything it was polar opposite as she knew this could put her in jail, debt or at least a lifetime of being a horrible cheater and fraud.
All fine until your last point. It wasn't "totally obvious" that they cheated. Extensive analysis of the footage was conducted to prove that they cheated. This was the only real evidence you've listed. Everything else was circumstantial and didn't actually prove anything.
You can really see in his wifes eyes that they cheated. Looking at her husband with pure antagonism after he won that amount of money... I bet they agreed to stop at a lower amount.
Especially when he said I don't kno what a googol is..but also felt so sure it was the answer..the wife rolled her eyes and head .probably thinking what an idiot thing to say
Hahahaha that £1m question alone settles it in my view. "I think it's a nanomole" then goes on to change his answer. Wtf? Not knowing that nano refers to a very small quantity of something, and then miraculously choosing the right answer...taken with everything else, the defence really didn't have a leg to stand on.
A nanomole would be a bilionth of a mole though. And a mole is 10^23, so a nanomole is 10^14, which is a lot less than 10^100, but still I wouldn't call it tiny in isolation.
Yea and risking £468,000 on the most random guess…combined with the clearly audible “NO” on the previous question. Definitely proof beyond reasonable doubt in my mind. I can’t believe some people somehow think he was innocent or that it’s not clear if he was guilty or not. To me all the evidence makes it abundantly clear.
One of them accidentally coughed (so to speak) at one of the wrong answers, at one point during this round; the man coughed, briefly, and then immediately uttered "No".
@@gregholman2431 No, it wasnt like that. Ingram kind of convinced himself in the Baron Hausmann question, that Berlin was the right answer, instead of checking every single answer with Whitock (or whatever his name was). @@archduchyofaustria2021 No comment. Other than watch the clip again, perhaps; it seems that the poster of this wholesome clip and myself are in total sync and total agreement, here. Yourself? I do not know, so much so. Ingram, here, basically just uttered the names of the possible answers, like usual throughout his wholesome round of "Millionaire", waiting for the "proper" cue (of coughing), time and time again. He was not kind of convinced about any of the possible answers (well, at least eventually; at least later on, throughout his wholesome round of his stint on "Millionaire").
@@gregholman2431 that particular question he convinced himself it was Berlin and kept saying it was Berlin it wasn’t until the bloke coughed with the no (as in it’s not Berlin) that said Paris which a cough without a no occurred.
Yeah had he walked away at even 500k it would be hard to dispute that he was cheating because he could say it was legit and felt any of his answers was hard to choose to with 500k on the line. He’s an idiot but gladly he got caught
125-250k is probably the max he could have gotten away with. At 500k there's still too much evidence, but yeah going all the way to the million was a ridiculous decision.
@@SWUploads971 He does look and sound like a bit of a slimeball. I know that we shouldn’t judge by appearance and sound but, I’ve yet to meet somebody that looks and sounds like a slimeball that actually isn’t one. Yet in reality he is the stupid one trying to cheat his way to a million pounds sporting such a creepy grin
Get to 32k with his cheating tactic and then use whatever lifelines left and take the free shot at 64k. And the guy helping him got greedy too. Just stop coughing after 32k and leave him on his own. Or finally to make it look totally innocous cheat your way to 64k... Then the cougher coughs at the Wrong answer and you lose your way back to 32k. Then your defense is infallible.
you can tell from their behavior when he answered the million dollar question that they cheated. they weren't even happy. they looked guilty. the guilt of being in front of people on TV trumped the winning a million. their faces showed it all.
It wasn’t guilt so much as fear. She knew that he got too greedy by going all the way and that they were most certainly going to get caught. That’s probably why they were heard yelling and arguing with each other after the show
These folks were missing one thing. Self awareness. The wife is ON CAM looking wild rolling he eyes and coughing, Tecwen actually said NO sitting directly next to other potential players and the contestant guessed answers he admittedly had no idea of...
She was pissed even more when they went back to their dressing room after the show. The staff could hear them arguing outside the room when they should’ve been so happy.
Surely the Craig David question should have set alarm bells off the fact that he says that he has never heard of Craig David but then he locks in Craig David
Yeah its all over her face, she looks guilty and angry. They probably all agreed to stop at half a million, maybe lower but he got greedy. You can tell she wasnt happy about it.
Yep, the last question really gave it away. I've never heard of that or that, not sure what a googol is, *cough*, well in a process of elimination it must be a googol...
Coughs aside, it seems so obvious the way he’s answering the questions, contestants usually think out loud and explain their reasoning whilst going through options, whereas C. I. just saying ”i don’t think it’s this, i think it’s this”, ocassionally changing his mind with no explaination why.
watching this guy plays and I had to rewatch all other performances of the genuine winners. It is actually a pleasure to watch them play instead of this guy, especially Ingram Wilcox, where he gave all his reasons, his deduction for each answer.
"Erm I dont think it's this. But it might be this. Hehehe. I've never heard of this so- *cough cough* Yeah I'll go with this anyway" What kind of erudition are we talking about if he says 3 lines all over the show?
Is he though? Would you have come up with this idea yourself in the first place? Also, would you act differently knowing you’re cheating and that millions of people are watching you?
According to “QUIZ” the 2020 re-enactment of this incident, it shows that they were in debt and the whole reason for going on the show in the first place was to win the jackpot to pay it off. That would explain why Dianna, her brother and Charles all went on the show and they were so desperate they eventually resorted to cheating their way through to the end.
I think MANY people are living paycheck to paycheck, and would like to win $one million. It’s not just because they were in debt, as their driving desire to be on the show. (& cheat to win) Many people have a credit card debt. So the fact that they’re in debt, is the main culprit for them cheating. I think $1 million would change 95% of the people life’s. (regardless if you’re in debt already or not) Someone who’s not in debt, i.e. a low income earner would also have a desire to cheat as well.
10:56 ‘I have no idea what your strategy was.’ ‘Just go for it. Just go for it. Be hard.’ The look of guilt and bullshit in his eyes, waiting to get off set, and then cut to his wife, the guilt and sense of despair in her eyes as if she knows there’s every chance they will be found out. She looks so awkward walking off, not even smiling, her entire body language is not what you’d expect from someone who has just won a million pounds. And on live television. Bizarre.
Remove ALL the coughing from this and they both still look as guilty as sin. He talked and moved about far too much, she acted her way through the whole thing. It's blatantly obvious!
For those of you thinking the last question was easy, keep in mind back then there weren't about 1000 videos on RU-vid of people talking about the end of the universe and what a googol means like there are now. lol
yeah but many people knew what a nanomole, a gigabit and who Megatron is. Or at least what giga- and nano- stand for in science. It's very basic knowledge for a million dollar question.
@@giannis5250 In 2001, those were all things most people didn't know. Among average people on the street - non-quizz-wizzes - only people who took at least A Levels in Biology or Chemistry would know what a nanomole is, even now, and only nerds and IT workers would have known what a gigabit was or have heard of Megatron. If you listen to news stories from the late nineties and early 2000s, university-educated middle-aged journalists sounded more clueless about technology than most working class 100 year olds would today. They phrased things like an old person would, e.g. "computer websites" because people didn't know what the Internet or world wide web were, and scoffed at the idea that mobile phones with colour screens or mobile games more advanced than Snake would ever be more than a passing fad.
Actually, I first heard of a googol when I was small, which was no more than a few years after this episode aired. That's why it was my guess from the start. I've never heard of the B and C choices before this
@@joeshort2185 I think they probably would have got away with it around the 32,000 - 64,000 mark. It was his incoherent flipflopping when the serious money was involved that coincided with that cough that gave it away.

TBH it was a good plan that could have worked if he used lifelines, stop saying IDK all the time, and not being greedy. Maybe then, he would have gotten away with it :L
His whole demenor when talking out loud the potential answers but giving no logic to his answer then changing his mind, was the huge suspicion for the production crew, even before they picked up on the coughing.

Openly admitting to never having heard of 3 of the answers, being sure it was A1 and then flopping onto Craig David is massively suspicious. He should have had enough awareness there to think the jig was up. Walking off with 32,000 would have been enough.
After humiliating himself with the A1 segment, he should've gone up to $32k, free guess, and then stopped at either result. He made himself look foolish even his wife is looking at him like an idiot. He's like a bank robber wearing bright orange clothing and wielding a kitchen knife as his weapon

It’s so painfully obvious especially in a game show choice answer situation. What were the people around her doing?? Hahaha did they really not notice it for the whole show
Well his wife and friend are really stupid because they ever caught when he actually was Wright They should have only caught when he chooses the wrong answer
