This is a marvel of human achievement; both in composition and performance.

I love his harmonic language and orchestration. Him and Ravel are my favorite orchestrators. 32:18 to the end is a wonderful example of his orchestral and harmonic skill. It's sad to me that Koechlin is such an obscure composer, his music needs to be performed more.

Elijah, you may not know that Koechlin published a massive, four-volume set encompassing every aspect of orchestration. It's the largest work on the topic, easily eclipsing those of Berlioz and Rimsky-Korsakov. Some larger university libraries have it.

What a wonderful piece. Great composer, great orchestrator, the interaction between texture, harmony and timbre is amazing. Koechlin is very underrated, or at least too poorly executed. Thank you very much for this pearl.

I see all sort of colors and shapes spinning and interacting each other. This is much more appealing than any of Beethoven's symphonies to me. The declining feel of the last section is simply beautiful, as if you continue to slip down on a slightly tilted plane to land the destination quietly. A beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing... I didn't know this composer.

This is brilliant. Hate to sound cliche but this truly is an under rated composer and piece. Thank you for sharing it, as well I am very grateful for your channel your great taste and you have no idea how amazing this is to provide all this music. Most if it I’ve never heard and most of these composers I’ve never heard of and I like almost all of them now I am binging your channel. Please continue your amazing work.

I appreciate you prefacing your comment with "hate to sound cliche", because I find the word "underrated" the most overused word on RU-vid. In this case though it maybe more applicable - yet I think the word "underappreciated" is better. And, yes, Koechlin is both.

I have this AND the recording by Segerstam with The Rheinland Pfalz orchestra . Honestly the Segerstam is much better, much more atmospheric, this sounds so 'scrappy' in comparison. As for The Meditation of Purun Bhagat, (Another work in the Jungle Book series) Well Segerstam's recording is just mind blowing but you won't find it (Or La Course) on RU-vid sadly.😞
