Love hearing these stories and him sing! Great voice, wow! Thanks for releasing this interview. I've spent a lot years collecting interviews and footage of Bachata musicians and dancers in the Dominican Republic and its very inspirational to hear from Alan Lomax. "This is the best music" 6:45 "restore the balance...cultural equity" 9:30

I'd imagine that Mr. Lomax would be happy with the flowering of RU-vid and the internet giving folks an outlet to express themselves.

WOWZA. Honestly with how streaming has consolidated in the last several years, I'm really feeling his words being relevent again. The current decline and loss of voice although it's in a totally new way. Its really incredible seeing someone so aware of the issue that no one was willing to listen to. It's gotten bigger and life found a way to fight it, but now that's being gobbled up before our eyes. It is easier than ever to get content out, but there's so much it's too easy to be drown out by anyone besides the cooperate voices. It's also interesting looking at how he talks about issues and how it's changed in 2 decades. This interview needs new life.

I was reading Chris Kings book and it royally ticked me off. He craps all over Allen. And I don't know why because if it wasn't for Allen, none of these artists would have gotten big and we wouldn't know about them. But in Kings book he tries to spread the narrative that the blues came from Louisiana but he never offers any evidence to back it up.

The blues don't have a color line. The British saw this and Elvis.

Major Mazzaroth neither Elvis nor the British would have known anything about the Blues without the early recordings of people just like the Lomax's. 70, 80 years later it is now an international music style

As an African woman going up in the south I've done a great of research. and I've heard the original blues by so many blues singers. That was played on 78s there a whole lot of much older people around who knew most of those singers. and I would listen to the stories they would tell. So knowing these things. I really don't care to listen or read anything that's not based in the truth. What you hear isn't always true.
