Having Charles last role be Guessepe and Mario’s Dad is such a poetic way of going out and he brought such a great vocal performance to both characters. As if he was wishing his sons goodbye onto the bright new mushroom world

The news def hit me like a truck. This man voiced the protagonist of my favorite game franchise for over 27 years. Without him, Mario wouldn't have been as charming to me as he was when I 1st played SM64 all those years ago. But, tbh, it was gonna happen eventually. You could already hear his voice acting being different for characters like Luigi in Mansion 3 as his voice changed due to age. He will truly be missed, and I hope he lives a happy and peaceful life in the years that follow.

It’s going to be hard to get used to whatever new voice Mario will have now because we are all used to Charles’s voice.

funner fact: his first voice role was actually a super mario bros pinball machine, if you listen to the voice clips its a very "prototype" sounding version of the character

We all knew that this would happen, honestly hope Charles' successor does a good job and eventually is able to stand on their own. Though for all we know, Charles' successor could be an experienced voice actor on their own.

I knew it was gonna happen eventually, but it still hurts just as much.

He will be missed, but he will forever be THE Mario. I will look forward to his future and the new va for Mario.

When I saw him trending on Twitter I thought he passed. Thank the stars that wasn't the case. I'm a little sad, but at the same time I knew this was inevitable. He couldn't voice Mario forever, someone else had to take the reins eventually. I wish him nothing but the best going forward. The new voice actor, or actors are doing a good job, and I feel Charles left the Mario series in good hands.

Honestly we knew this Day would come, Charles Martinet isn’t in his Prime anymore and voicing Iconic Nintendo Characters for almost 30 Years with different voices of Mario in Wonder and the New Wario Game was an obvious sign he would semi move on, what he did is Iconic but as Human Beings we can’t rely on them forever and we should give other actors a Chance.

Honestly, this is no shame to whomever is stepping in, but Charles is one of those examples where he will always be Mario, you don't forget 30+ years and he literally is the reason I got into gaming, that being said I do wish the actors going forward do a great job voicing the character.

I was kinda expecting Charles to retire during the next Nintendo console era. So I was surprised when the news occurred today. While I have faith in Nintendo finding a good replacement, I'm still gonna miss the original. Charles was a big factor in bringing charm to Mario and some other characters. He has done an amazing job being our plumber and I wish him the best for his future.

Honestly I should've seen it coming but I chose not to believe the theories that sprung up after the previous Nintendo Direct. I'm fine with the new sounding Mario so far. The new Wario sounds weird but Charles' Wario already started sounding weird in Warioware Gold and Get It Together although that could've been chalked up to a different approach due to speaking full sentences as him in those two games.

I heard some suspicions of Mario’s voice actor changing and I thought his voice sounded slightly different myself. I’m pleasantly surprised Charles Martinet isn’t retiring or anything, but this is a sad change for me and does feel like the end of an era with Nintendo. So much has been changing already since the release of the Nintendo Switch and especially since the release of the Mario movie from earlier this year, and this completely seals it for me that Charles Martinet is stepping into a new role and leaving room for new voice actors to fill in for our favorite plumber.

This is so hard for me because he’s such a huge part of my childhood. I wish that wonderful man the very best and thank him for so much amazing acting from not just Mario.

He did a great job doing voice acting for decades! I look forward to what's next in store for the Super Mario franchise.

Godspeed to Mr. Martinet. Whomever is succeeding him has major boots to fill. I don’t envy them but I also wish them all the best.
