Charles had one of the most impressive runs in the lightweight division. He is a champion with or without the belt. 🙏🏼 Very big respect and congrats to Islam for becoming new champion. He is very dangerous. I can see him dominate for a while but I still don’t believe this fight is over. Charles deserves one more shot at the title back in Vegas or Brazil!

I’m a Charles fan but on the ground he got completely outclassed and controlled by Islam. Charles had to beat him in striking but he couldn’t even do that against Islam. It was a poor performance but hopefully he works on his weaknesses and bounces back.

Man, I'm not brazillian or anything but I'm truly dejected by Charles's loss, I feel like I myself have lost. He wasn't the beast he always was in this fight. I genuinely hope he comes back stronger, will always be a fan and look upto and root for him no matter what, can't help but love and feel inspired by his story. Always winning and being on top is no easy feat but getting knocked down and climbing back up is truly remarkable in my eyes. Also, Kudos to makachev, incredibly skilled

A very respected fighter, he went into this fight fully confident,in fact i would say bordering on overconfidence. Islam fought him with an attitude knowing that he is fighting a champion and Charles entered the ring with an attitude of the reigning champion. Islam did what he does best. Charles tried to do the same what he did with others he defeated, but this time, the player was different. Anyway, the better fighter of the day won. Hope Charles and his worthy coaches have learnt better from the outcome and prepare themselves for postive result against an opponent who is totally different than the others Charles faced earlier. Caution, confidence , and the best all round preparations will definitely give a different result. Charles is one of the best fighters.👍

Olivera didn't win today but he outclassed his opponent and the sport itself. He was the champ but had his title striped in questionable circumstances. He was the champ but didn't get to chose Brazil to defend his title. He was the champ but only because he fought all the top contenders to prove it. Many are now saying his opponent was afforded UFC privilege because he arrived at a tile fight without having to do the work by fighting the greats first. Those who have been following the sport for a while can appreciate the cards were stacked heavily against Charles today but he remained respectful and full of class. God bless Charles, he will be back.

I was not able to sleep for the past few days in anticipation to this fight. Was just really waiting for Islam to silence the haters.
