@@danabright3241 oliveira grappling different than khabibs though. khabib is very wrestler focused while oliveira is more submission focused. very 2 different styles. khabib controls you until you give up your limb and oliveira forces you to give up the limb which tends to create space and opening for escaping. but id like if oliveira won tbh
is technique is near perfect. Hands are glued to his face when throwing. Like the hook he hit Michael Chandler with, his right hand was glued to his chin.
Derek Sandy his striking is more fundamentally correct than dustins. Dustin can just take more damage and has better boxing but Charles has great distance management and fundamentals. Stop being a hater
@@sahnimus3455 "He‘s practicing movement so no one‘s gonna blame him if the shots don’t sound like a whip" You're right but try telling that to the internet
That liver shot had unfortunately no tempo change and rip in it. Sloppy. Amazing fighter overall. Think he would benefit the most right now to work on his boxing with a real boxing coach, instead of blasting muay thai on pads.
@Davey Have all you Dustin fan's forgot that this is MMA and not boxing? This is Charles Oliveira now, not Conor Mcgregor, so don't mistaken that. Charles is going to take Dustin down and maul him, it will look similar to the Khabib fight mark my words.
@Davey Dustin isn’t good at managing range, his defense isn’t that good, charles on the other hand is way better at managing range, it’s a very balanced fight, if Dustin gets on the ground he’s done for
As soon as I start giving props on the striking of Oliviera, and think it will matter... I remember Dustin just out struck Mcgregor twice in a year and went to War with Hooker right before that. Dustins like the terminator right now. Hope he gets this Gold
Conor out boxed him in their second fight but I see what you mean. Nonetheless Dustin might be the very best lightweight rn he is an absolute dog at lightweight. That being said Charles is extremely underrated and is good everywhere.
Conor did out box Dustin in the second fight up until the end of the second round when Dustin found conors head always in position to get check right hooked lol Either way tho dustins boxing is superior to charles and his pressure on the feet especially when he sees blood will be very very bad for charles , but with that said dustin better be careful to not get locked up ina submission out of nowhere
Nah man, dustin's made for striking, oliveira won't be able to withstand the diamond level pressure, I say he bites it early or if dustin wants to end it later, there is 0 chance for oliveira to beat dustin in the striking department, I say his only choice is to rely heavily on the grappling and jiu-jitsu honestly:/
@@markmarkson3047 he will lmao Dustin will knock charley on his ass Y’all seem to forget Who’s good and who’s not just because of a recent fight Dustin been a killer
Brazil's biggest striking influence is Muay Thai. Typically they use a high guard and move their heads a lot less in Muay Thai due to kicks. Beyond that, the legs are usually pretty erect so that you can freely kick, knee and check but it takes power away from punches and makes you less mobile. There's exceptions. A lot of criticisms for strikers in MMA is based off of boxing principals but theres pros and cons to both. Charles is pretty Muay Thai focused, whether thats good or bad I don't know.
@@Legendman234 yeah in boxing it’s different because of the size of the gloves and there’s only punches. in mma head movement is still important as always but it’s not like boxing head movement because of those kicks and knees and you also have to be ready to defend takedowns
@@treyburro5525 It is exceptionally good, Muay Thai is the only art that's been through and defeated several martial arts under THEIR rulesets CONSISTENTLY. It is so well rounded and EFFECTIVE, and that's a big reason why I love it.
No pourier doesn't have elite level boxing he just has an insane chin. Olivera is a better striker, but it doesn't matter he'll lose to Dustin's granite chin. Dustin is nothing without that chin. Watch the Dustin vs. Conor 2 fight, and the Hooker vs. Dustin fight.
@@muhammadarieasnita4926 he absolutely can beat Dustin on the ground. Dan hooker ragdolled Dustin and took him down around 5 times easily. Dustin's takedown defence is not great at all. Even people justin defended a few and Conor defended 4 of 7 takedowns from khabib while Dustin got taken down by far the easiest of khabibs recent fights. And once Charles gets him down he will end it much quicker than khabib. His wrestling is not as good as khabibs but it is very underated. He has better wrestling than pretty much everyone Dustin has faced recently bar khabib obviously. But his jui jitsu is much better.
@@Ostrava6572 It makes sense that Dan Hooker could take Poirier down because it was his first fight since he was beaten by Khabib but now Poirier is mentally different. He is already in the mental and physical condition of the champions.
@@Criticas2Calcetas I think he say in a interview that he was in a box gym, then some friends of him that practiced mma invited him to go to other gyms and he transitioned there, going between multiple diciplines incluiding bbj
@@travisdesnomie546 He will not be champ as long as lets say Khabib. I am pretty sure Dustin is going to be champ. dustin is a way better fighter and he does not give up as easy as Olivera.
Don't let your ears fool you. Turn the sound off and tell me they're "sharp". Not shitting on charles, he's great. But the sound is the only thing selling this clip.
The UFC wants Dustin to win so bad that he’s already ranked ahead of Charles on the P4P list. Even though Charles is the champion and Dustin isn’t. The disrespect is unreal with this company.
He's been beating bigger names the past few years than Charles has. Get over it. It's not like they gave him Charles' belt or some ridiculous shit this actually makes sense
Isaias Ruiz a contender being ranked over the champion never makes any sense. Say it out loud to yourself. The contender is ranked higher than the champion. It’s like ranking Whittaker higher than Izzy because he beat Yoel 2 times and didn’t lose to Jan. It doesn’t matter. One is the champion of the division, and one isn’t.
I see Charles as the perfectionist, his technique and understanding the fundamentals are excellent. Dustin is close, but he is more of a brawler, willing to let the technique slip a bit to release the dog inside of him. This will be fun to watch.
He needs defense while moving back. He always outstretches his arms and goes back too slow with his chin in the air. Hitting combo wombos on the pads won't teach him that.
He is a mthai type striker, he is not going to move his head much; porier has this on the pocked exchange but he is bad in closing mid range, thats why he lose to mcgregor first time, vs Mj and why he got clipped so much vs Dan who had the longer reach. This is a great fight, hard to predict cuz both can beat both in any way (porier by guillotine, Charles by tko, etc)
@@godmode4790 @Charles McDowell So you're not allowed to judge Ben Askren striking too? Everyone can make predictions and pass their judgment on, and I am saying showing dancing with the pads skills doesn't indicate he will show up different there how he usually is. Knowing he got clipped by Chandler multiple times and Poirier being predominantly a striker, this footage could be the same one as 3years ago to show his preparedness for current threat.
when khabib won the UFC, he was only willing to wear his belt to Makhacev, so be aware that all of you are just a stopover, which will eventually return to its original owner👍👍👍
Him, Holloway, Diaz brothers, Tony Ferguson, etc, they got hit a lot. Their strategy relies on how they can come back after getting hit. Unfortunately for Tony (Vs Geathje) and Holloway (Vs piorier) the plan didn't work out. I doubt, without improved head movement, he will be able to run through a guy who has heavy hands and good cardio.
It’s so weird all these people that have never trained talking about the technicalities and philosophies of fighting. Y’all know about as much as Steven A Smith and it’s very cringe.
Dustin sucks on closing mid range distance tho, everytime he has been knockdown and tko'ed has been there; that vs a Mthai fighter with longer reach is scary
Du Bronx is the Rocky story but Dustin Diamond Poirier is gonna finish his Cinderella story.. clock will strike 12 and he will turn back to a fkn pumpkin..
yeah the padman is doing more work than Charles there realy. Dustin's boxing is lightyears ahead of Charles his boxing not to mention he has more power. Only way I see Charles winning this is by submssion.
Don’t see Islam beating Charles or chandler. Both have nasty hands, crazy grappling and cardio for days. People are foolish to equate khabib with Islam.m, they’re planets apart.
It’s mma style he’s a really awkward striking who can clip people with those gloves crazy jiu Jitsu but poirer has proven he’s at the top he will out strike Him war of attrition Olivera probably can’t take him down but who knows
I give a puncher's chance. Or else, Dustin Poirier is going to make him quit just like Paul Felder did, and Michael Chandler did not have the fight IQ to do.
@@nobodyharder6575 "Your prediction has to be the dumbest one I've seen yet" So is yours. How do you know that Michael Chandler is 100x the wrestler Poirier is? College wrestling is AMATEURS. If you don't wrestle inside the Octagon, then I believe you are that good of a wrestler. How was Daniel Cormier's wrestling against Jon Jones, Alex Gustafson and Stipe Miocic. LOL
@@francmittelo6731 That right there confirms that you're a casual who doesn't even know the fighters he comments on 😂 Do you remember the last time Dustin got a takedown on anybody? lol Chandler's top tier wrestling was evident throughout his entire Bellator run, even against Oliveira when he got his back taken then scrambled out of it
