Thank you for the great performace. One question if I may, can this be played on it's own as a concert/competition piece? Or does it have to be played in it's entirety with the previous two movements?

Since some point in the mid-twentieth century, it has become quite unusual to play in a recital a mvt. of a sonata without the others. But fashions change, who knows if it might get common in a few years? A question such as "can this be played...?" shouldn't be made when you're talking about an artist. It's not engineering after all!

Good points, Pleyel. It's a matter of what's acceptable at any given time AND depends on the work/composer in question. For example in the "golden age" of the piano in the early 20th century it was sure customary to play the finale of Weber's first sonata, popularly known as Perpetuum Mobile, as a standalone virtuoso showpiece - but do that with a Beethoven sonata and you're likely to be looked down upon as a amateur (though the Weber sonata as a whole is really beautiful, as good as any early Beethoven sonata imho). Personally I'd love to play some movements from Hindemith sonatas but not the entire sonatas.

@@punkpoetry I read your comments and just a bad humor -what if it were lisz't sonata-came up btw... And I do also feel like playing only some excerpts from beethoven's sonata, 1st and 3rd only from usually mozart!
