Oh my god. This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever listened to in my life. I just can't put into words how it makes my heart flutter like a butterfly and how it carries me to a whole different world of imagination. It's an absolute masterpiece
As a kid in England we listened to songs that were popular during and after the war. My own tastes in music developed in the mid 60s. However a few songs stuck with me from childhood. This was my favourite from then and will always occupy a place in my heart. Je vous remercie, Monsieur Trenet.
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever. It is completely charming and quite moving and M Trenet sings it from the heart. No-one has ever covered it with the same success. Bobby Darin's 'popped up' version is excellent but falls into a different genre.

Was in Narbonne Plage recently and this song popped into my head .I played this while there and people began to move hips , sway and look out to sea . I then found his house in Narbonne its quiet humble but beautiful and is open to the public. Great song, encapsulates our time "sur la Plage " and two weeks in the Narbonne area. Nice spot

When the children were young in the 1980's we used to go down to Fregus and the South of France for our holidays. My husband is now no longer with us, killed in a cycling accident, but this beautiful song sung by Charles Trenet brings back such happy memories of our wonderful times there.

Merci à ce grand monsieur de la chanson française que j'ai découvert en éducation musicale à l'école primaire il y a plus de 25 ans. Often played on the old BBC Light Programme back in the 40's and 50's, my dear old dad bought the 78 of it (On Columbia I think it was) and have loved it ever since. This and 'So Tired' by Russ Morgan from around the same time take me back to my childhood. Both merveilleux chansons.
