for years i wondered what happened to charley, great to see that he is still doing his fabulous paint work and i hope his channel keeps going ,welcome back.
Charley always had a smile on his face in Boyd's Shop no matter how manic things were the T.V Screen and Charlies motto was and is,"It's all about the Fit and Finish." Great that Charley is just knocking things out of the Park, in his own Shop... hopefully for decades to come.
What Charley was able to do under the insane deadlines on American hotrod was amazing. Now that he has all the time he needs his craft and skills have truly shown.
@@atg1338 the deadlines were real. That’s how they were able to manufacture all the drama. It was literally a revolving door of the employees toward the end because they all got burned out
I use to say to my wife, watching reality shows, you can’t fake nice, you can’t fake. The only reality shows I would watch were car shows. American Hot Rod, Overhaulin’ the two obvious ones. And Charlie always came across as nice, never fake. With a passion for perfection. His work on “Impression” … stellar.
I'm glad to see Charlie is still doing well. I met him many years ago at the SEMA show. He is just as humble and genuine in person as he appears on TV. A friend of my dad's had his car painted by Charlie and it looks phenomenal.
Charlie is imo the best body man / paint finisher I’ve ever seen . A lottery win I would have him create a master piece for me . Riddler winner and all time really humble family man . 🙏🏻🏴👏👏👏
I am grateful that I have lived long enough to be able to listen to the Craftsmen that have become Legends in their own right. We have lost so many of the Founding Fathers of the Hot Rod World without getting their story's on record. Same with our Greatest Generation. We lost so many stories before we started recording them.
i remember watchin cottingthon as a kid and to grow up and become a painter is still a shock, but charley was the first painter i remember seeing and inspired a generation
Charlie, congrats on the wonderful career you have created for yourself and the success that came with it. It has been a pleasure watching you over the years grow into what we see today!
You have a great shop Charley. I still hate to see, how you have been treated in the past (no details needed). I'm glad you now have your own shop, without bosses hurting you feelings or questioning your loyalty
Few are blessed with pushing their ability for no other reason than for themselves... he's right every car is a new challenge...if you are just after awards than your missing out
Your story is inspirational echoing my own. Have a passion and drive and a belief and you will achieve whatever you dream. Having the support of family is the fuel. Keep sharing.😊
I was always hoping Charlie would get his own shop. Boyd Cottington use to take way to much advantage of Charlie. People have lives to live something Boyd didn’t care about with his employees.
Resigned from Boyd Coddingtons to move on with his career and got resented for it by Boyd. Still he speaks very highly of him and respects him. What a stand up guy Charley is.
Charley I've been an admirer of yours for years way back with Boyd being a painter myself and started at 14 in small shops in Australia I only wish I could watch you paint all day man you are the greatest painter I've ever seen and I'm so glad to see that you have such a beautiful shop so perfect and clean keep doing what you do Charley your the Man From Brisbane Australia
I painted my first car at 14 and was supposed to go up to the local panel shop to do Rj experience but never did and that is we’re our stories changed direction 😢😢 All I wanted to do is paint all I still want to do I paint but it too late now I loved watching Charlie do his magic , I think he is the best painter ever sorry gene
I want to meet Charlie one day and see his shop. I've been working in the automotive industry for 25 years, five of them as a painter and all of them as a detailer, and it would be great to make that happen....
never a big fan of Boyd, but Charlie was always spot on and got a chance to help Chip Foose, Boyd couldn't handle that because he still wished chip worked for him, but Chip was above Boyd and you can see why now.
This is cool. I watched but didn't care much for the show or of Boyd himself but Charley was memorable. I'm not sure how much was "made for tv drama" but I thought he got shit on at the end.
The last car I had painted was a '32 Ford 3 window coupe back in 2000. Back then I had their cheapest paint job at $9K. It took 6 months. I asked a painter, "Why does it take so long?". He said, "Truth be told, I can paint a car in a week. But you wouldn't want to pay thousands for a weeks work". I told him, "That's why us shade tree hot rodders quit because guys like you are too expensive!".
Nice guy, great painter, Boyd gave you the opportunity to do your thing, never should have left, how did it work out with Chip I wonder , never seen you til now.
So the bigger question in my opinion based on his departing episode: was Charles giving Mrs. C the pickle tickle????? Very sus based on her reactions......
I KNEW HE WAS GOING TO BECOME SOMETHING BOYD WAS AN ASSHOLE TO ALOT OF HIS EMPLOYEES AN THAT SHOP FOREMAN GUY ALSO ALWAYS DEGRADING THE WORKERS... GOOD JOB MAN
Charlie should not have left Boyd the way he did! he cut Boyd's heart out when he went to Foose! Charlie should have went home if that was the goal. But he went to work with Foose and at the time Foose was steeling Boyd's employees and trying to steel Boyd's customers! Charlie used very poor judgement and really did Boyd wrong. Charlie should have went home. built his shop and then took on Foose as a customer, that would have been more respectful and more ethical.
Bullcrap. He wanted to take some time off to paint one car for Chip. Boyd was big on showing him loyalty and he guilted Charlie bad. But he showed nobody loyalty or respect exc3pt Roy. He shat all over Mike, but forgets Mike's face is the way it is because of his son.
@@billkea7224 Chip Foose was his main compatition! I am in the auto body business for 45 years! I would never allow a painter to go to paint a car for my competition ! Foose stole many of Boyd's employees and customers! Foose is a scumbag and Charlie gave Boyd no respect for his friendship and no loyalty for his employer! his reputation was made at Boyd's shop! Foose took everything that Boyd was doing and just copied him! he learned it all from Boyd and then stabbed him in the back and Charlie betrayed Boyd! Foose used Charlie and then thew him away when he didnt need him anymore and charlie had no choice but to go home, he had burnt the bridge with Boyd over the whole thing and Foose didnt give a damn, he got what he wanted!
@@dhaley8847 Your clueless, but go ahead and think that. Foose was the brainchild behind Boyd. Allow a painter? Doesn’t work that way unless he has a non compete contract
