Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for PS2 is terrible 

Good God this game.... My younger brother couldn't beat parts of it and being the older brother I was forced by my parents to "help" him get through it... Fuck this game, it never gets better.

Actually, the voice actor who voiced Willy Wanka in this game is James Arnold Taylor. He voiced Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars The Clone Wars, Johnny Test in Johnny Test, Captain Jack Sparrow in Kingdom Hearts 2, etc. I met JAT at Star Wars Celebration Chicago 2019.

Fun fact: This game was in one of my old school books, and they called it "An unworldly experience", well they also had red alert 2 and they wrote how it was converting kids to terrorism so I took everything written about video games with a giant grain of salt

I usually loved these crappy licensed games as a kid but I h a t e d this one, never got through the level where you're stuffing the holes with vines or whatever, like you said not even fun. it was the sort of game a family member would buy for you and you'd play once to be polite and never touch it again lol

I actually LOVED this game when I was a kid. I loved the different sweets you could use, I loved exploring the place, the only place I found frustrating was the Fizzy Lifting Drinks Room.

I remember getting stuck on that vine mission and totally rage quitting the game afterwards.

I thought the cat in the hat game was a nightmare I guess I was wrong, another game to add to my list. Sadly I know it won’t be as funny and as fun as you guys made it

You say the Burton film doesn't have a reason to exist, but to be entirely fair, it's a far, far closer adaptation of the original book, which I would say alone is enough reason to justify it existing at the same time as the significantly less book accurate first movie.

my professor told me the story of how he helped work on this game: warner bros representative hired him and a few dozen guys to take pictures and references of the movie on set while it was filming to get reference art and ideas for the willy wonka video game, because they believed "this movie is gonna bomb" and the video game was to make up any extra profit he also told tim burton the movie sucked. burton was pretty chill about it, his secretary wasnt and chewed my professor out

45 seconds in, I will not accept this blasphemy 😂 the 2005 one was my first exposure to the story as a kid, and that lead me to the old one eventually! So as annoying as remakes can be, they can also serve as a way of reaching new audiences. Tldr, 2005 slaps in its own way

Fun Fact: Roald Dahl hated the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory so much, he wanted no more adaptations of the book. After his death, Roald Dahl’s widow & daughter went to Warner Brothers to help make a more faithful version of the book. The Dahl family say that it Roald was alive, he would consider Tim Burton’s version to be justice served for the book.

0:33 It was made as a passion project to pay homage to the original 1964 book. The 1971 movie is infamously a SUPER inaccurate book adaptation, and Roald Dahl (the author) hated it as a result. It was also a Quaker Oats commercial and failed at the box office. The 2005 was made as close to the original book as possible, with the added Wonka backstory. Roald Dahl’s estate had full creative control over the 2005 movie and his widow even had a producing credit.

I actually am one of the few people that enjoy this game and I actually got everything in the game and beat it I do admit I was stuck on some of the puzzles though I eventually figured it out

The 2005 film is not a remake, it is simply another adaptation of the novel made with the intention of being a true adaptation closer to what Ronald Dahl wanted rather than be a soulless commercial like the original.

It looks like Monster House (Charlie Bucket looks like DJ, Augustus Gloop looks like Chowder and Willy Wonka looks like Bones), and in an even worse way (at least Monster House stands out from other mocap films by ImageMovers by partially stylizing its visuals).

Roald Dahl despised the original, and his daughter worked closely with Burton on the remake and gave it her full blessing. But I still prefer the original.

This was the first ever console game that I owned before I even had a PS2. I had to play it at my cousin's house until we got our own PS2 and this was such a fun time. Charlie's jumping noises and the dumb Wonka-Bots made it so enjoyable.

The narrator is actually the late great Sir Christopher Lee. Hush, it wasn't his choice to be involved in this.

I forgot I was watching this and I opened my phone up to 6:56.

The fact that there's no 'you died' or death scene for Charlie is disappointing. Who thought this game would be a good idea? Jesus. I'll watch the movie one day, though. R.I.P. Charlie, you won't be missed.

"Who doesn't love this movie?" Well, Roald Dahl and the Dahl Estate. Facts. "It wasn't a bad movie, it just didn't have to get made." Except it did, because Roald hated Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and felt it missed the point of his book. This was an effort to make an adaptation far closer to the source material and actually had Roald's widow and the estate involved, whereas the original didn't. And the fact people hate it while going "We love Roald Dahl" is just absolutely delicious to me.

Tintin, Up, and Bolt are games you should do. Brother Bear could also be interesting, solely because I can already picture your commentary about how much you hate it XD

What is with the video games based on movies that is by Tim Burton. First there was The Nightmare Before Christmas Oogie's Revenge, then there is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory both on the PS2? What's next? Pirates of the Caribbean on the XBOX? Corpse Bride on the PS5? Whatever video games get made, some will be good, and some will be bad.

0:03- Admittedly I don’t love the original movie. I didn’t like the songs, I found Wonka to be more annoying than charming, there were several scenes that just felt pointless, and overall I just felt the movie was annoyingly nonsensical.

THIS GAME. When I was a kid I got as far as the room where you have to shoot gobstoppers through waterfalls of colourings, spent six hours trying to solve the puzzle and decided there was no escape. You are not supposed to complete this game lmao

I remember being left in a room for 3 hours cause my parents had a meeting and all there was to do was play this game or draw... I drew a hella cool spaceship that battle Aliens from the future and it shoots sharks with frickin lazers attached to them

So fun (?) fact about this game. You get special unlocks if you complete it 100%. Problem is, once you complete a level, you cannot go back to it. No problem, right? Just finish the game and use the level select. Nope. There’s no level select. Once you complete the game, the only thing you can do when you load your save is watch the end cutscene again. There’s not even any point in keeping your saved game. That means you can only truly “beat” the game by doing it perfectly the first try. It caused me and my brother so much agony when we were kids.

I had the PC version of this game as a kid. And the phrase “Luminous Lollis” are just etched into my brain
