When I watched it when first broadcast, I wasn't sure if the opening sequence really was Jonathan King. The bit at 0:50 is curious, especially as King's convictions predated the episode by some years. Not sure if they are bold jokes, or just plain weird.
Americans seemed to be exposed to so much artificial, sensationalised drama on TV that shows that have somewhat realistic characters are seen as fake and documentary shows as boring.
Its weird how you can copyright something that's literally in the public domain (Hollywood sign). Surely you shouldn't be able to prohibit the filming of part of a public space.. unless your in China.. or North Korea.
Muffins McGeez it's the same with the Eiffel Tower sort of. The lights on it at least it copywrighted so it's usually shown in the day to avoid the lights
Oh I wished the funniest serie had already came out at the time of this episode. Arrested Development was geniusely funny, helas, too genius for its own good
Don't give a shit for all the 'oof' talk about R Kelly when it comes to stuff he's made. Still enjoy Trapped in the Closet, it's one of the most unique, hilarious pieces of comedy ever made. One of the few R&B singers I actually enjoy as well- although it is a shame he couldn't keep the freak in him to himself.
Sorry, but being a Brit, our comedians of today are about as funny as zyclon B shower jell- Marcus Brigcock, Russel Howard and the rest of the none offensive none victim middling class phoneys would've been ripped apart in my third year secondary school class.
You realise that probably the most beloved comedian in the US right now is the very British John Oliver. That just the cast of QI and Big Fat Quiz might be among the greatest comedians in the world right now. Do you really consider people like Jimmy Carr or Jo Brand to be "non-offensive? Why? Just because they are not dickheads like (undoubtedly funny but utterly dickish) Jeremy Clarkson?
The Wire was good at the time, when the only other thing on T.V was C.S:I ...Try watching it now though and you'l fall asleep. Dominic West isn't great in the show either.....The very first scene stinks. The Wire hasn't aged well. Brfore any replies of htred, give the show a look.
+Roy Mark Froome The Wire remains the best crime drama ever made mainly because of how great the storytelling really is. This is universally agreed upon. Yes it won't appeal to people with the attention span of a small child and it is not filled with action packed scenes, but to those who can comprehend complex dialog along with spectacular character and plot development, it will undoubtedly amaze and delight. The Wire is fucking amazing and whoever says otherwise is a goddamn moron with a stupid opinion. Hope that wasn't too hateful for you :)
No need for hate, I'm simply commenting on this show, in this the comments section. It is my opinion. But as usual I find that some people, unfortunately seem incapable of expressing themselves unless they citisize and insult others. The show, as stated was good for its time. My point is that it simply hasn't aged well...If your opinion differs from this then....so be it but if you can only insult ...who has the moronic behaviour here? Why am I even wasting my time?
If all you got from my previous comment was an insult then I'm afraid you are incapable of defending your opinion. I mentioned the characteristics of the show and how you probably won't like it if you can't comprehend complex dialog and plot development. All you are saying is that the show hasn't aged well and then you don't even try to back it up. Instead you whine about people who are going to argue with you as if that is a good defense for your opinion. It seems like you have only watched the first 10 minutes of the show and then made up your mind by saying the first scene is garbage. I'd like to see some specific criticisms of the show rather than just pointless whining about people who might disagree with your unfounded criticisms.
