Charlie was such a true and great friend to Elvis. Their closeness came through on stage. Elvis was a genius and Charlie always backed Elvis in whatever Elvis did.
Whenever in concert Elvis always thanked Charlie Hodge. A man he said who always handed him his scarves to give to the ladies in the audience. Yes Elvis loved and trusted this man.
I agree Elvis loved Charlie and know doubt Charlie worshiped Elvis. I was very disappointed to here Charlie say Elvis had Cancer. I had never heard that mentioned from anyone just Charlie. I always wondered why he would say that because I didn't believe he had Cancer and all the people as close or closer to Elvis than Charlie was never has said anything like this I'm hoping some time that they will ask one of the ones close to him about Charlies accusation. If not Vernon had Elvis's medical records sealed until the year 2025 so maybe than a lot of the questions his fans have will be answered.
@@thefish48 Charlie in one interview said he was in the room and heard a doctor tell Vernon that Elvis had cancer. That's where he got that from. Have no idea why the doctor said that.
@@abc-wv4in Maybe the doctor was telling to Vernon that he has himself the cancer cause if you look this man months before Elvis passed away he is completely different ; he physically very “maigre” the skin on the bones:( And Charly thought that the doctor was talking about Elvis. I always thought that Vernon was very bad health, too (like the momma too):(... 💖🕺💖🇫🇷💙🇺🇦
I recall reading that a while before Elvis passed it was suggested that he should be hospitalised because of his colon issue . Dr.Nick had twice suggested he be admitted but it was stated that Elvis had refused any operative investigations as he believed that, if operated upon , air could reach the cancer and could cause the cancer to grow and would kill pretty quick . I think he was scared
I got to meet Charlie and get him to sign his book, Me'N Elvis, at Memories Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN in 2002. I truly believe he loved Elvis and wanted nothing but the best for him. It's so sad most all the guys are gone now.
Charlie adored Elvis, & had a wonderful life and time with him, on the tours, trips, Graceland & living there , said it was like family. RIP both you great men.
Charlie Hodge was a really loyal & true brother to Elvis. What a great Gentleman he was and such a talented musician. We can hear his lovely harmony with Elvis. R.I.P Charlie. Elvis & you are together in Heaven.
His face telling facts , eyes shows reality body expretion telling truth ....GOD bless you for that much Sincere friendship to him....faithfully linked.....Thank you ...GOD bless .
I love these videos with people that really loved Elvis. You can see it in their their eyes. They just light up when they talk about him. Elvis seemed to be a very sweet troubled soul. Tragedy we lost him way too soon!!
I think this man Charlie, was a very true friend to Elvis. He always spoke highly of Elvis. He did at one point and time ask Elvis to get help. That was more than the rest did as friends.
We were in a show called Forever Elvis that toured all over the uk from 1985 to 1987 i played young Elvis and Charlie narrated the show he was a very nice guy who truly loved Elvis, he wore slippers with CH on them I thought was very funny,he always had his TCB neckles on and his red Elvis in concert jacket , rest in peace Charley im sure your up there singing harmony with Elvis.
Such a great interview great to hear his fun stories and good times he had with Elvis! Charlie seemed like such a good friend to Elvis, so caring and genuine with his stories. ❤
I wish Elvis would have listened. Depression ruled his life. Especially now that we know about how bad bacteria in the guy causes depression. You can't make anyone change. You can ask them to,but most of them think your over stepping boundaries.
I can't say enough good things about Charlie. We lost another great human being when he passed, but I feel he and Elvis are thrilled to be together again. RIP Charlie you beautiful man!
I've loved Charley! I hated when he died. He and Billy and JD were his truest friends around him all the time. Billy's the last one left and I'm so grateful! Charley was like Billy with that wonderful sense of humor! They are the only 2 that told great stories about life with Elvis. Now it's only Billy his wife Jo and Danny and Joey that lived with Elvis all those years.
Charlie was #1 with Elvis. Of all the guys Charlie seems to be the most sincere and honest. He would have never written a book about Elvis like the 3 bodyguards did ( Red, Sonny and Habler ). Thanks for sending this out to us the fans
@@marthahumphrey3849 Yes Im aware of that . But i think we all want to know " The Truth" Bad or Good is OK - Just not the Evil way some decribes some stories
@@marthahumphrey3849 I've read some many reports and books on Elvis, I do remember cousin Billy saying somethings ( maybe with the other MM guys their as well. Let me ask you What exactly was said by Billy ? Maybe i missed something. But overall, I thought Billy was a real good guy and loyal to Elvis, But i could be wrong.
Charlie was truly a great loyal friend to Elvis. One of the good guys! Loved him and Elvis loved him as well. You can see it in last video of Unchained Melody. Elvis looks at him and smiles. He has love on his face. JD Sumner is another great one! I wish I could read both of their books!! So damn expensive. Out of print.
Of all of Elvis's friends, body guards, and hangers-on, Charlie Hodge was the best friend Elvis ever had! All of them turned on him and wrote tell-all books, designed to trash Elvis in order to make a quick buck, but the exception is "Elvis n' Me" by Charlie Hodge. An enjoyable read, and a true account of the man we know as the King Of Rock n' Roll! Thank you, Charlie!!
Not only was Charlie Hodge close to Elvis Elvis Jerry Schilling and I believe it's just as viable and a great source of truth about capturing Elvis spirit and minimizing the negative the title of the book is me and a guy named Elvis that what's a wonderful read and Lisa Marie was quoted as saying you captured my dad's spirit so it is a book that I recommend. The only thing is I did not like the voice of the narrator on the audio version I wished it had been Jerry Schilling doing the narrative but the read is wonderful and I would suggest it just like I would Charlie Hodges book I've read both of them I believe Charlie Hodge and Jerry Schilling it pretty wonderful people and I appreciate how they loved Elvis and I appreciate the way Elvis loved them they deserved it
I don't know much about Mr.Hodge but he does seem genuine in relating his memories of Elvis .I respect him not running his mouth about the negative aspects that says alot about his integrity & their friendship imo . Iam fairly new to getting to know the characters in Elvis's life 😊 thank u for sharing ur thoughts as I look forward to reading his book now
I had taken my daughter to Memphis in the early 90 for her birthday youngest Canadian fan she was only 6 she loves Elvis we meet Charlie he was the nicest person he was Elvis right hand man
Thank you so much Charlie for this video you were one of Elvis amazing friends . Thank you for being there for Elvis sending love and thank you friend ! TCB for Elvis !
TWO BILLION PEOPLE IN THE WORLD SAW ELVIS' ALOHA TV SPECIAL !!!!!!!!!!!!! SONY+EPE should promote that FACT all the time....this was already in Jan 1973...another FIRST in the world....!!!!! Elvis was sooo humble...never bragged re his success !!!!
Such a true good friend Charlie was. My favor of all Elvis friends. The others as far as I'm concerned were in it for the fame and money.. RIP PIECE Elvis And Charlie
Charlie sound like he was an awesome person, just the sound of his voice, his laugh, the way he talks about Elvis. He sound like such a Sweetheart,I wish I could have met him,or seen him with Elvis. Everyone should have a Friend like Charlie Hodge. I am sure Charlie & Elvis, and the rest of the Memphis Mafia are entertaining everyone in Heaven. I am certain Charlie has his wings, for the way he took care of Elvis.
I was about 4 when I first heard him according to my mother, but it was obvious from then on that he was mine, his voice hits your soul, cheers you up, gives you hope, and somehow makes you know that you are loved, his gospel music goes straight to my heart
My name is deirdre Mac Mahon from Dublin Ireland i had the honor and pleasure of meeting the late Charlie hodge in a place called the red cow Dublin Ireland years ago and he was an absolute gentleman and i was devastated to hear about his passing and i broke down and cried when i heard the sad news 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💚💛🧡❤️🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷
Charlie was one of the genuine souls in Elvis's life and death. If only Elvis had more friends like Charlie, he might have lived longer. Thank you, Mr Hodge for your kindness to Elvis and your loyalty to him. You were a first-class gentleman. Your name was not just synonymous with Elvis, but with loyalty, too. RIP, Mr Hodge and Elvis.
@@marthahumphrey3849, I agree with you. Charlie was always there for Elvis, from the day that they first met in 1955 backstage at one of Charlie's concerts to the day that Elvis Presley died in 1977 and beyond. I've read his 1988 book, Me n Elvis, and there's no doubt Charlie loved Elvis a great deal and it's clear he knew more about Elvis than the fans ever will. If only Elvis had more friends like Charlie, he might have lived longer. Charlie never said a bad word about Elvis. Charlie may have only been 5'3", but his loyalty to Elvis and his family was second to none. Also, Charlie was famous before he met Elvis, so he never leeched off Elvis's name, unlike many others, but of course, he will always be best remembered for his connection with Elvis. I'm sure when Charlie passed away in 2006, Elvis welcomed him back with a handshake saying, "Chollie, welcome back, man". Also, in all of Elvis's homes, there was always one room simply called 'Charlie's Room'.
Charlie Was A Gift From God For EL💯💜& Yesssss When He Seen Cilla He Already Knew That Woman Was His!!!💯💜-IF IT Wasn't For Parker n Keeping Him Drugged Up Him & Cilla Would Still Be 2gether ☹💔
CHARLIE WAS A FANTASTIC FRIEND TO ELVIS AND STAYED LIYAL TO ELVIS AND SO GLAD CHARIIE PUT THE STUPID RUMORS ABOUT ELVIS TO REST GOD BLESS YOU CHARLIE SO GLAD GOD PUT YOU IN ELVIS'S LIFE
I’m a huge fan of elvis I love 💕 elviss music and flims too elvis will be the king 👑 and rock and roll 🎸 my dream is to visit Graceland and communicate with elvis 11:04am
He was a true friend and a true friend has no reason to lie about his death, Charlie was the 1 that verified his body in the morgue and also helped prepare the body with makeup, he took care of Elvis the best he could to the end.
Just driving across Paris is Amazing.I was there with a friend a had a beer in between my legs and we where driving like 10mph next to the Eiffeltower,The Notre dame etc. Such an other world this city!!i would recommand to everyone visiting!
LAMENTÁVEL QUE SEM A TRADUÇÃO EM PORTUGUÊS DO BRASIL! ELVIS , GRATA QUE ERA SUA BOA ALMA, ENTREGOU-SE AOS SEUS FÃS POR TUDO QUE FIZERAM A ELE DE BOM! QUIS GARANTIR SUA FAMÍLIA, MAS PRISCILA SÓ QUIS A FESTA, IMPOSSÍVEL QUE SOUBESSE SOBRE A SAÚDE DELE... CARREIRA DE ARTISTA E NA ÉPOCA ERA "BRIGA DE CACHORRO GRANDE"!!! LISA? AMOR FIEL. SÓ A AGRADECER A ELVIS QUE TÃO BEM ME FAZ TODOS OS DIAS. BASTA ESTAR COM ELE.
we all know there was a close friendship with elvis and charlie but i could never understand a year after elvis died charlie appeared in elvis the movie as himself i think elvis surrounded himself with people he thought were friends to much of elvis presleys private life is discussed here real friends dont do this
I see nothing disloyal in this video. Now in many others, though, and in some books, I totally agree that real friends never do that. This video is just anecdotes of the kind that ordinary people share; nothing wrong with that. Of all Elvis' friends and so-called friends, and even relatives, Charlie was the most loyal.
I met Charlie at Decatur Alabama and it was amazing to sit down and talk to Charlie because I'm a huge Elvis fan and Charlie came in with a red jacket on with a TBC logo and I got to sit down and talk to Charlie and I was truly amazed of a lot of things that I didn't know about Elvis I even got Charlie Hodges autograph I still have it till this day I even sang Some of Elvis's songs and Charlie made the comment that I sounded like a young Elvis
I think Charlie Joe JD and his quartet and of course Elvis's Daddy we're the only people who was really honest with Elvis. He had a lot of hang owners and so-called want to be friends that was only interested in the fame and the money that they personally could get out of Elvis. It seems none of those guys could tell Elvis the truth or at least cared about Elvis and his health and safety then they cared about themselves and their greed and the Fame that they thought they had. The so-called Memphis Mafia the last 10 years was more his enemies than his friends. Regardless what they put in a self-serving book for themselves. Even on his death they had to make money
I heard someone say that apart from the family members Elvis put Charlie and Billy and Larry in his will...! They all got $200,000 it is believed. Nothing for Cilla or Linda or Lamarr. or
Let me guess?? Elvis fans now hate Charlie? Crazy mean Elvis fans now hate Priscilla, Ginger, his daughter Lisa, Col. Parker, pretty much all the guys in the "mafia". Watch for the hate posts on pretty much every Elvis thread. Haters. God bless Elvis and Charlie and the Col and Vernon on down the line. It was quite a ride.
shigho, The Elvis fans has been exposed to the bad blood between those who knew Elvis back then. So since they can't (or couldn't ) get along, neither can some of the fans. Also, it's not uncommon that people in frustering will turn on each other since there seems to be a lack of new subjects. That is also why this Elvis is Alive nonsense don't go away 'cus even the stupidest opinion will get some attention. Take care...
When Elvis was in Paris he took a secret trip to the uk and meet the uk Elvis tommy steel and went around London’s museums etc as tommy was known as Elvis in England .... This is all written in tommy steels autobiography as he was bigger than Elvis at that point until Elvis took the crown....
Yes I just want to also say that I adored The Beatles they were so so talented and when I see Ringo on a video saying that it was sad because he heard that Elvis wanted I think he said an investigation on the Beatles and Ringo said that people could not get close to him meaning Elvis and that was sad to Ringo however I believe that Ringo and the rest of the Beatles were wonderful but I do feel bad that they got hurt by being misinformed and that is why I believe that Ringo went on air and shared that in some video. And Ringo Starr if you are seeing and reading my comment please double check your facts before you go on air and make Elvis look bad however I'm not saying that you tried to make him look bad or like an insecure man but that is how it came across to me as a fan. So Ringo Starr please double check your facts and go on air after you find out the facts that Elvis love you guys and please share that and a short video if you can. But I also want you to realize because I love your band and I appreciate it all of you guys talents all four of you that when you did go on air and said that about all this that was so sad to you about the Miss information I believe you got and I found that sad for me knowing that you loved Elvis and I did not want your feelings to get hurt either, again please find out for sure by people who knew him and I am asking you that when you do find out correct that if you will respectfully and an admiring fan for you also thank you
My father was a survivor of the USS Arizona and the part talking of Elvis and the Memorial in Hawaii I would enjoy having. There is so much out there, it's hard to know what is what :) I hope they don't remove your posted video--it's really enjoyable to watch! 3 or 4 of my favorite videos on You Tube have recently been removed. Has made me sad. Thank you Robert!
