I totally agree. Hodges' tone and solo is great and bluesy, but then comes Bird, and with only a phrase... OMG! his solo is at Parker's Mood level at least
I had to read Sonny's blues for an essay, and they mention Charlie parker's blues. The blues really takes you back in time, and its calming. It's great to listen to.
Inconfundible el saxo de Charlie Parker, con su invención para construir improvisaciones en los coros progresivos, que enriquecen las líneas melódicas.
Absolute genius. I like to use this Parker solo and Cool Blues to demonstrate to people how versatile the blues progression is. This is light years beyond what the general public and especially most guitar players think of as "blues" - i.e. SRV or Clapton or whatever. White folks ruin everything...
Drums: J.C. Heard Piano: Oscar Peterson Alto Saxophone: Johnny Hodges Alto Saxophone: Benny Carter Alto Saxophone: Charlie Parker Trumpet: Charlie Shavers Guitar: Barney Kessel Double Bass: Ray Brown Composer: Johnny Hodges ???? please confirm this info.
Help me understand the reason for this edit. Such a beautiful piece to have so much edited out makes it difficult to listen to. (solos by Peterson, Kessel, Phillips out.) A must-have album though.
