I like Mike's videos but I like the ones with Charlie more, precisely because of that balance: factual, technical, practical testing mixed with doses of exceptional oddity. Anything that gets him to exhale forcefully, do a double-take, or just throw up his hands in utter confusion is priceless.
Or just the fact that sometimes the seriousness of the video will be broken up by Charlie wandering on screen in the background with a rake or some random shit. lmao.. Dude kills me.
Garand thumb is awesome. But it was getting to be a little redundant. Charlie 100% added a breath of fresh air and much needed dynamic into it!!! It was a great call to keep him!!
Charlie keeps the videos feeling fresh and not like something that is scripted and meant to be a product. It’s like we’re all just hanging out and enjoying the subject matter, which is what makes GT’s videos so watchable and relatable.

Charlie has literally evolved into the ultimate Sigma Male since he first came on GT's channel. Still the same funny dude as he always was, but now with more lean and muscle.
I’ve been watching GT pretty much since the very beginning, and Charlie and Micah have really helped to make an already great channel even better. Charlie is an absolute riot; dude is just funny!
Charlie's back and forth with G.T. make the videos go from "Good" to "Great". Even the jokes that sometimes miss still come off as awkwardly funny. G.T.'s videos have only gotten better with Charlie around. As Micah said, now it feels a bit odd if Charlie isn't around.

With Charlie on they have became the best team on RU-vid. I am always waiting for some pearl of wisdom to fly out of Charlie's mouth. I do that too if I click on a GT vid, I start looking for Charlie. He adds the missing piece of spice that makes the video increase in value. Perfect match up with Mike, Micah and Charlie.
"Korean meat bathing suits" was one of Charlie's funniest 'replacement names' for the SDI sponsorship he happened to utter one episode of Garand Thumb's show, and I was ROTFLMAO for the rest of the day after that. His timing was perfect. He's a comedy genius.
You DON’T need to “script it” at all Micah. Some of the greatest moments of comedy in movies are from comic geniuses (John Belushi, Richard Pryor, Gene Wilder, Robin Williams and Jim Carey to name a few) being allowed by the director to go “off script.” And yes, TO BE CLEAR, I’m putting Charlie and what he does on ‘Thumb’s channel up there with the likes of those other comedians. Or at the least, the YT equivalent if you will. Comedy is very hard to define but you know it when it makes you crack up. That said, if I were GT (and I’m no GT) I’d have Charlie in EVERY one of my vids. Sometimes in the foreground giving his opinions (when asked of course) but otherwise ALWAYS just loitering around in the BG.
There are times during regular episodes on garand thumb that seem like you could cut the tension between Mike and Charlie with a machete, with the spine of the blade, in space, under space water, in a solar storm. Honestly, I thought Charlie was an alien until i saw him yell at a dude for peeing in his driveway. I mean, im still not sure. But i love the guy, like, as a stranger, in a gimble kind of way.
Charlie just adds that flair that mike doesnt have. 😂 Mikes cool but a little to into himself. He strikes me as the kinda guy who beats off and flexes in the mirror. 🤣 we all love you daddy.
I can't remember which video it was, but as GT was talking, Charlie began chasing one of the guys around in the background with that broken green plastic rake. We need more Charlie time!
