no one is that strong in withdrawal trust me that's insane.

Elizabeth Bennett Heroin withdraw is actually accepted as the worst withrawal there is by many people. I conducted a lot of research and did a project on heroin addiction recovery, and I watched videos of real people in rehabilitation centers. The severity of the withdrawals would differ based on how long someone was using, but also their environment. Charlie was on an island with little food and little water with no air conditioning, and his body was in survival mode to start off with. If you knew someone first hand that experienced heroin withdrawls, I am glad that it was not very bad.

Hannah Berry yes it differs, but the amount of mental craving is usually the same. I've seen grown men and many very strong people try to quit. in that state it is literally impossible. I've never seen it done because of the withdrawal clouding there mind. maybe, for the deepest gratitude in his eyes would he drop the bag. like a pregnant girl I once knew, who decided not to spend her money to get out of WD but to buy food. I just couldn't believe that scene when I saw it because I know how impossible it really is.

I shot dope for 2 years im now 3 weeks from a year clean. The withdrawal in this show has some truth but it wasnt 100% acurate.

There are people with tremendous willpower who can tough through it,though given his characters portrayal hed likely be like me and not be one of them no.

I wish Charlies withdrawal had been a bit more realistic. As the time is shown to be only a few months on the island, it would of been more realistic to have him sick as a dog for at least 3 episodes. It really takes away from the whole storyline that he just looks a bit flushed for an episode. If only withdrawal was so easy.

Oh, well. I guess the writers didn't want to spend too much time on Charlie's withdrawal. Besides, even if it were more realistic, the big picture remains the same.

Oh also that was a dumb move if for no other reason then the fact it is there only legitimate source of emergency morphine for legitimate injuries if they occur, which in hindsight they did, and often.

Idc for me drugs like that are all evil and should all be burned. Idc about the advantages
@jimmy2k4o
@jimmy2k4o 2 года назад
Chemically heroin and morphine are very very similar. If you didn’t have morphine on the island, heroin would be your next best option. Intense untreated terrible pain can put stress on your body that can kill you. Even Dr Jack and anti drug John, saw the value in keeping the heroin for medical reasons.
@Crowbars2
@Crowbars2 2 года назад
@@acdragonrider Then you are a moron. So, you'd prefer that people be in pain because you don't care about the advantages that medicines can have? So, if you had to have an operation, you'd prefer not having any pain relieving medication? *"Just cut my appendix out whilst I'm awake, doctor! Durgs like dat R eval n shud be burnded"* Well, I'm glad that you've never had to experience pain bad enough to warrant opioids, it seems like that's the only way you could ever hold such a narrow-minded opinion. Those drugs are the reason why some people are alive and functioning today.

Heroin is also Diamorphine and your hospital stocks and uses it. Don't waste time with good and evil it will only confuse you.
@Crowbars2

This annoyed me to no end. In another episode, the overweight dude says he wants clonazepam and they had that on hand saying it was used to treat psychosis. So, they stockpile a benzodiazepine, but just toss away the heroin into a fire? Like... What? Heroin (diamorphine) is basically like a more effective version of morphine. What if someone required severe acute pain relief? Why did they consider clonazepam a "medicinal" drug, but heroin a "recreational" drug. Both have medical and recreational uses. In fact, heroin (diamorpine) is the preferred agent for obstetric analgesia in the UK, due to certain benefits over morphine and pethidine. It would've been helpful in the episode where that woman was giving birth. Or in one of the many episodes where a severe injury occured. Like... They had whole statues filled with the stuff. Think about the amount of pain and suffering they could've stopped, instead they just toss it into a fire. "Yeah. That them "drugs". Drugs R bad. Jus say No! I'm proud of you Charlie. Now we have no way to treat pain on the island."
@hannahblair6672
@hannahblair6672 2 года назад
I agree that Horoin is something I would've kept for pain management if we had crashed on an island. It's not life-saving though, right? Correct me if I'm wrong! Charlie's process of throwing it in the fire and knowing he no longer has access to Heroin (he's literally on an island) was part of his recovery. If they had kept it he might have changed his mind and tried to find where they hid it. This way he made the decision while he was clear headed and couldn't go back. He kept his dignity in it being his choice instead of possibly one day his lack of a relapse being solely because he couldn't find where Jack or whoever they hid the horein.
@Crowbars2
@Crowbars2 2 года назад
@@hannahblair6672 But, I think it was a bit of a stupid idea to completely deny pain relief to everyone else on the island just because Charlie might have relapsed. Yes, pain relief is mostly there to make someone's life more bearable; but, I can't imagine how awful it would be to give birth, break a bone, have an appendix removed, or have any kind of surgery on this island without any pain relief. It just kind of seems silly to me. Because if Charlie really wanted to get high, and there was no heroin around, he could still steal the clonazepam. At least if he relapsed on heroin, not only would there be tons of it in the statues, so the stuff he stole would just be a drop in the bucket, but he now has a social support system, especially with Hurley, Claire, and John, who knew exactly what he's been through. I just really hate it when TV shows show drugs through a lens like this, either they're all "recreational" drugs and therefore bad, or they're all "medicinal" drugs and therefore good. When in actual fact, almost every drug is in a grey area, with both positives and negatives, especially the recreational ones.
