Dude was tearing it up at 15 or 16. Unbelievable magnetic charisma coolness stage presence-he had it all. Charlie was 1 in a million and should have blown up WAY bigger.

I bought this album on the strength of Beats lonely, and I was totally impressed. Charlie is a great singer, wrote songs filled with great hooks, and is a killer guitarist. Deserved much more success than he got. Maybe one day.

I did too. He was a huge star to me at this stage of his career. Now I've seen him playing with Dylan several times. He's a very fine musician. But also has star quality.

Same here. I got this album because I saw "Beat's so lonely" on MTV and had to hear more. Every song on this album is amazing.

I was on vacation in Austin Texas in 2005ish and stumbled upon a club and Charlie Sexton was performing. Amazing experience, 5 feet from the stage. Unbelievable talent!

I was working in a record store back when the Pictures for Pleasure album was originally released. The whole album is really great and it was part of the in-store play rotation for a long while.

my girlfriend used to love rewinding to the part "Nicholas and Alexandra"....her name is Alexandra and she swore no one sang ".....Alexandra" sexier than Charlie...of course I tried to out do him...to no avail.

My bedroom was full of posters of Charlie and I listened to this song over and over again….. Good times..... good memories. He was so talented even though he was superyoung at the time! Greetings from Norway :-)

Met Charlie and Bob Dylan in Perth, Australia in 2001. He was such as great bloke; Bob on the other hand was a grumpy little man but I am still grateful for the experience. Charlie's songs are a time machine trip back to my teens; what an era to be alive!

Me and a friend saw him in Seattle on this tour at the Paramount. He was amazing. Not sure how he never blew up to be a superstar but I will never forget that show. He was 16 I think at the time.

He has heart throb looks definitely.His singing and guitar playing rivals many of the masters of today and yesterday.Maybe more so.He had it all but was never lifted to stardom.Very sad.I know the world misses you Charlie.

I couldn’t afford to move all my vinyl from NJ to CA back in the 80’s, & stored them at a friend’s house. Turns out his mom tossed ALL my now highly collectible vinyl, including many extremely rare EP’s. I had this album on vinyl, along with a lot of local Philly bands.

i so remember going to sam goody to get this cassette my mom took me lol i was in 8th grade saw beats so lonely on mtv when they actually played videos and fell hard! but this was the song that had me and still does thanks for posting it!

An awesome classic from the 80's. The whole album was fantastic...must have played that tape to death, till I got the CD. :D Slick production by Keith Forsey over all. Charlie is one of the quiet yet talented musicians from that time, and still performs to this day. This song is just great!!!

Yeah great career but i never cared much for his being a side man. I was always an admirrer of his solo work. Arc Angels great band. Bob great artist. But I'd rather listen to Charlie on solo.

I still love Tonio K's original version of this, on which Charlie played guitar, but Charlie does it great justice. I enjoyed him playing with Dylan a few years ago, but I'd love to see him live on his own someday.

Great song and great video. I always loved this song. Heard this in loop, in a road trip with friends when I was young and proudly stupid and mad. We drove from Milano to Alicante non stop. Weird days, I miss them.

Saw them perform this at the Star theater in Youngstown as the second set following Donnie Iris, in 1985. They never topped the energy of that show, and yet Donnie Iris is in his seventies now and still kicking butt.

Had the pleasure of meeting both Charlie and Bob Dylan in little old Perth, Australia in 2001. Charlie was a true gentleman; Bob was typically laid back and a little grumpy... I was totally starstruck that day..

I still remember the first time I went out to Honoko, or the "Ville" across from Camp Hansen. That mildew, humidity, and spilled beer smell everywhere.... mama-san's as old as dirt trying to get you to buy them "drinkey." LOL

Yeah, we always referred to it as the "Ville." Coming from Schwab always required a taxi. Buses were rare, over crowded and not frequent. To this day, I still say Camp Schwab was prison with a furlough. I was at Schwab-atraz 87-88. Fuetema 93-94, and again 95-96. Yeah, I remember it like it was yesterday too.

It is obvious to me that Charlie was inspired with David Bowie's style at least in this song . Very talented but underrated musician that started out in his teens. Awesome !
