Yeah I don’t get the reasoning behind what he did. How you go and say you want to make it a solo project, dump everyone only to hire new/old people to make it what it already was?

No, you got it wrong. Timo, Otto and Joey, due to the deteriorating relationship with Martijn during the last tour, decided to convince Martijn to leave his own band or they will leave Delain. Charlotte's opinion was that if they agreed on some compromise options, then she would remain in the band. If not, she would leave to pursue a solo career because she refused to work with any new line-up of musicians. Long negotiations were unsuccessful and those four left the band. Martijn at first decided to continue Delain as a project with guest musicians (as Delain was conceived from the very beginning), but after starting work on new songs with the returning Ronald and Sander, it turned out that the creative atmosphere was so favorable that Martijn changed his mind and decided to continue Delain as a full-fledged band. Also Charlotte wasn't the main songwriter in Delain: She mainly worked on lyrics and vocal lines in a songwriting team that included Martijn, Charlotte and guitarist Guus Eikens, who didn't perform on tours but created guitar parts for Delain in the studio (although you can see his performance on the live DVD "A Decade of Delain: Live at Paradiso" in the song "Sleepwalkers Dream"). Basically, it's already clearly seen in Charlotte's solo songs, which are completely different from Delain, even the heavier ones. While both of Delain's new songs definitely retain the band's sound. Charlotte wrote the lyrics (and some vocal lines), Martjin the songs (with Guus Eichens).. There was obviously a huge bust up. It is weird and a bit sneaky that Martjin said he was going solo and then reformed Delain with a second rate replacement for Charlotte. It's also an insult to Charlotte as these were the songs that Charlotte had made great and without her Delain would never have got the attention it did. It's not had good consequences for her. Because although it's good that she's writing her own songs, she needs a QUALITY Song writer to write for her and to front a QUALITY Metal Band again if she is to make a comeback and bedazzled the world. With her current philosophy and change of image, that's looking unlikely. The whole business is a crying shame (for her and for us fans too) 😭😭😭😭😭
