@@Dulcimerist My "nasty" aunt used to tease me all the time about Janie.. but I don't care, she's an idiot, and I LIKE listening to Janie Fricke!! Saw her in concert at the st. fair in ny Judy Rdman was a background vocalist who Janie let sing 2 songs.
@@PARADISE7670 I met Janie around 15 years ago, and she autographed the album cover of her record my parent bought me as a kid in 1983. Very nice person.
I just watched an episode of the 70's/80's t.v. show "Hart to Hart" entitled "Rhinestone Harts". Charly was the guest star (her character was The Rhinestone Cowgirl). I decided to look up some of her videos and I'm glad I did! :) IMO classic country music is the best country music.
I'm playing this song in honour of my doggie "Charly" (yes where she got her name from) wo passed away 23 April 2022. This was her favourite song. As well as Sentimental 'Ol you and Paradise Tonight. She also liked a few other songs (not Charly's) which were "If You're Reading This"- Tim McGraw and "Dirt Road Anthem"- Jason Aldean. She would howl to these last two songs. R.I.P Doggie Charly.. Miss you!!!!
I used to be sooooo in love with Charly McClain. She had the hottest eyes and the sexiest voice. Indeed, she had that 18 year old boy smitten back then and now I'm older that she was when she cut this song. Wow, time has wings!
Thx. I was smelling cow manure, confusing skunks w/ weed, trippin on whos car smells funky, & being pissed at somebody riding my ass. Dis dat country side. .. Pretend like ur smart at least, & back the f up 😤✋. Also, I really thought this was dolly Parton. Heard this on the radio today
On this day in 1981 {February 8th} "Who's Cheatin' Who" by Charly McClain peaked at #1 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart... "Who's Cheatin' Who" reached #2 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart... Between 1976 and 1989 the Memphis, Tennessee native had thirty-nine records on the Hot Country Singles chart, fourteen* made the Top 10 with three reaching #1, the above "Who's Cheatin' Who", "Paradise Tonight" {with Mickey Gilley} for one week in October of 1983, and "Radio Heart" for one week in May of 1985... Eight of her thirty-nine charted records were duets, four with Wayne Massey {her husband}, three with Mickey Gilley, and one with Johnny Rodriguez... Charly McClain, born Charlotte Denise McClain, will celebrate her 65th birthday next month on March 26th, 2021... * She just missed having a fifteenth Top 10 record when her "When A Love Ain't Right" peaked at #11 in 1979 And from the 'For What It's Worth' department, the remainder of the Hot Country Singles' Top 10 on February 8th, 1981: At #2. "Any Which Way You Can" by Glen Campbell
my band opened for her in a string of state and county fairs in the Midwest back in the early 80s along with another band called Razorback. It was the Miller Lite tour, man did we drink a lot of beer on that tour! She was a hottie for sure but not so social with the musicians after the gigs. guess I don't blame her now that I think about it!
We saw her open for The Oak Ridge boys in Blue Island Illinois at a dirt race track on the late seventies. The first concert i went to on a date. She was wearing Lycra Pants and looked real good.
She is not a tall lady, somewhere around 5'.She never really wanted to be a star but I for one am glad that she shared her beautiful voice with us for at least a little while.
Her voice was clearer in the 1987 video, but the fact that her voice in this 1982 performance is slightly hoarse makes the song sound even more countryfied.
actually Alan Jackson had to buy the rights to do this song...since she wrote it. Notice he didn't change one lyric,..one word,..one medody. :) Being her sis,....I know pretty much. Love ya Char
I am trying to make more people aware of her wonderful talent. It is difficult to imagine how someone like her could not be fully appreciated. Refer to "Men" video.
Hey (sister?) Wanda Wright, this song was written by Jerry Hayes, and no, you don't have to buy the rights to record any song; just pay royalties to the writer.
Everywhere you look, you can write a book On the trouble with a woman and a man But you cannot impose, you can't stick your nose Into somethin' that you don't understand Still you wonder, who's cheatin' who And who's bein' true? Who don't even care anymore? It makes you wonder who's doin' right by someone tonight And whose car is parked next door? I thought I knew him well, I really couldn't tell That he had another lover on his mind You see, it felt so right when he held me tight How could I be so blind? But still you wonder, who's cheatin' who And who's bein' true? Who don't even care anymore? It makes you wonder who's doin' right by someone tonight And whose car is parked next door? A heart is on the line each and every time Love is stolen in the shadows of the night Though it's wrong all along, it keeps goin' on As long as they keep out of sight But still you wonder, who's cheatin' who And who's bein' true? Who don't even care anymore? It makes you wonder who's doin' right by someone tonight And whose car is parked next door? Still you wonder, who's cheatin' who And who's bein' true? Who don't even care anymore? It makes you wonder who's doin' right by someone tonight And whose car is parked next door? But still you wonder, who's cheatin' who And who's bein' true? Who don't even care anymore? It makes you wonder who's doin' right by someone tonight And whose car is parked next door?
@simwrangler I agree - it was written more for a woman than it was a man in my opinion - Alan's version wasn't bad - it just didn't really seem to fit his style.
Anyone know if she is still performing, she sure was a cutie. I enjoyed her voice, wish we had more like her. Wonder if she is till married to Dwayne and eats Lucks beans ha ha
I wrote a song called "You're A Rainbow I'm The Rain" about having a soul mate who really loves you; and is sweet, kind and forgiving. But you, on the other hand, are unfaithful, angry, jealous, inconsiderate and nasty and she/he still loves you! (Go figure!)
@podline66 my mind is open to those things in Life that matter. Perhaps you should read the lyrics. "I wonder who's cheating who, who's being true bla, bla, bla. The song asks questions no one is asking. It's a stupid song. I don't spend my time wondering who is having an affair. Get a Life.
They (Charly and Alan) both sound gr-r-r-reat! The only thing AJ should have done is changed the words to "You see it fealt so right when I held her tight" to make it more for a man.
While I enjoy the original version, Alan Jackson's version is much better, especially the guitar and piano solos. AJ rendition sounds richer and has more blues in it. Just my personal taste, of course.
