CHARMAINE CLAMOR, America's leading Filipino jazz and world vocalist and the creator of "jazzipino," performs her World Music radio hit, "My Funny Brown Pinay," a bold reinvention of the old Rodgers & Hart song, "My Funny Valentine." The song, performed in English and Tagalog, was featured on NPR's "Weekend Edition" and is the first track from her CD "Flippin' Out."

Charmaine is my new best friend in my head! I have brown skin and a flat nose too...Im Jamaican with Black and Scottish Ancestry...but I have been asked if I am Pinay! Just shows we are all sistas under the skin... I think Pinays are some of the nicest, talented and most beautiful people in the world and are wonderful friends GO CHARMAINE!!!!

Composing new Tagalog lyrics seems pretty original to me! Never heard a version of "My Funny Valentine" like this before. Also, "jazzing it up" is not the exclusive domain of African-Americans. Jazz welcomes ALL practitioners, regardless of race. Including proud Pinays!

i love ur pride..I have your looks.. Tanned skin, bulbous nose with no bridge.. I battle against my physical image. Full of insecurities. After watchin this video, makes me feel good at least and thinkin about not to change my ways.. I realize I dont want to be a cookie-cutter.. A)Charmaine is not capable of ugliness, no matter what kind of wig she wears. B)She is certainly a "hot pinay girl," but that is not the point of this video. It's about accepting your native looks with pride. C)Listen to the lyrics and the different wigs and makeup will probably make sense.

skin color is not an issue actualy .. filipina skin varies from dark-light ... it's just there are some people out there who don't understand a filipino culture...
