Ashley reminds me of Tiarra from Love and hip hop. Scrap's babymamma. She keeps Scrap on a short leash using the simple sentence, "you will never see your son again". And when he hears that and has a flashback of his childhood trauma living without their dad around and their family broken up, he immediately thinks about his son having the same experience and stays with her despite not wanting to be with her. Also doesn't help that both those men have long periods where they financially rely on their babymammas. It's homelessness driving the relationship as well.
