Charnwood W629 table saw 10"blade.
I have only had the saw for two weeks and I'm still playing with it.
Sorry about the video quality, first time I have made one for RU-vid.

Had mine nearly two years, great saw but dust collection is useless great piles of dust get caught under the saw. I also bought the mobile stand for the saw which does help.

Heard rip fences have little deflection in the end to help prevent binding and kick back. As long as its solid where it leads into the cut.

Its visible when cutting but always seems to cut well.

Do you know anything about this "reverse table" I bought the saw on the bases it could cross cut up to 720mm and 520mm is the biggest cross cut I can achieve?

how much does the slop/play in the fence make when cutting now you've had a play about with it? I just sold my old evolution rage5s site saw which locked on the back and was solid. I sold it to get a fix based cast iron one (Charnwood w629) and now, after your video, I'm unsure I've made the right decision. have you seen any aftermarket fences that can be fitted? ie: INCRA or KREG etc
@kellydavidscreen8644

I've not looked at the Incra system. The fence is ok, i check it before i cut and during with the T slots on the cast iron table. I found its fine as long as i am not forcing the cut.

Hello Kelly, thanks for the review. A question if you don't mind. How would you rate its accuracy? Specifically, long rip cuts using the fence. I've been eyeballing this saw for some time but I'm a little put off by the play you demonstrated in it. I agree with you, it really ought to have been full length - god knows why they didn't do it like that. Thanks 👍

Hi Stevie, I have just cut a 1200mm/ 4 foot length of ply and its within out by about 1.5mm.

@@kellydavidscreen8644 Thanks for the swift reply and impromptu test! Hmm...the rip cuts I'd do the most of would only be about half that, do say a difference of 7mm. May cause me issues. Would you put that down to that bit of flex in the fence? Sorry for the questions, just have to be absolutely sure before I blow £800+ on a saw.

Hi Stevie, based on the fence and the fact the mitre slots are NOT 3/4 inch I would keep looking. I wanted an Incra jig but the mitre slots are about 15mm so the jig will not fit. Blades cutting height and it’s ability to cut through oak and beach easily are great but it’s the fence and mitre slot that would make me think twice if I were to buy again.

@@kellydavidscreen8644 Thank you for the advice. I fear you might be right. Just a shame there are so few other options in that price range. The sliding fence would have been excellent...but if the fence is that much of a problem then I'll follow your advice and hold off on buying one. A real shame.

how are you finding it 18 months on kelly?
@kellydavidscreen8644
@kellydavidscreen8644 5 лет назад
RADCOMJ1 hi, I am loving it. The new Freud blade is great I replaced the original after 6 months. I still check for square on the guide before I use it and I have to correct it about once a week but it no big deal to do. I definitely does everything I need and does it well.

Why does no one every mention on these reviews that the sliding crosscut table is about 4mm higher than the fixed blade bed this is by far its biggest downfall

@@kellydavidscreen8644 how often you use it? and how is it so far? any more con's? I need a saw and looking to get this one but not sure is it worth buying cheap saw like that

Adkiz69 I am a hobby user, I can spend a few hours using it then nothing for a month. If I were wanting a professional saw this would not be it.

Yes I get blade wobble giving me a very rough cut I’m perplex why it does this now and again for no apparent reason.

I would be interested in an update on your thoughts of this machine? Still got it? Still good? Anything gone wrong with it? Have you made (or recommend) any upgrades? etc.,
@kellydavidscreen8644
@kellydavidscreen8644 4 года назад
Sorry for the late reply busy with a revamp on my business whilst we are closed. The machines ability to cut through oak or beech is very good. the fence is rubbish and needs constant adjustments, I wanted to buy an incra system for it but the slots are none standard and too small. I really need to look for an aftermarket fence. I've fitted a Freud blade 80 teeth I think 250mm and it cuts superbly. Dust extractor a must or you will be getting it in the face, the rest collects under the saw so a wheel kit is a must for cleaning. If I had to buy another I would look for a saw with the 3/4" standard slots so I can fit aftermarket jigs. Other than these gripes its a great bit of kit.

paul cane his comment was neither constructive or helpful, it was rude and arrogant. Yet here you are the saviour of this nine month old comment, to abuse and bully. I’m sure RU-vid is grateful for this service you are offering.

Is the only real difference between the 619 and the 629 the blade size? (Also you need to see this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bt9zSfinwFA.html )
@kellydavidscreen8644

The 629 has a 3hp motor a instead of a 1.5hp. if you look at the specs the table and crosscut capacity for the 619 is bigger than the 629 (strange). Obviously the depth of cut is greater on the 629 80mm instead of 60mm. I did apologise for the video.
@andrewthornton230
@andrewthornton230 6 лет назад
bigger motor too. 619 has a 1100w motor and 629 has a 2200w motor
