I made this recipie and a vegetarian version of it. I have to say...this is a huge hit with my friends and family. This is one of those hidden gem recipies on youtube. You sir, this recipie has gotten me through some tropical storms down here in the gulf. thank you very much

I made this and it was as good as you said. It makes a lot so I froze some in sandwich bags then put those bags in a gallon bag. Now whenever I want some beans I just take out one bag and it's as good as it was the first time. Yummy!

Back for your Charro beans recipe again. My Grandson Isiah is 10 years old and he is hooked on this recipe. So I promise him I will make them today. So when he get home from school I will have them ready. I'm not Spanish, but he is part Spanish. He's getting to love Mexican Food. Because he is a picky eater. My wife made a brown sugar topped ham and I replaced the hot dogs with it and garlic sausage using your recipe. Amazing!

I’ve never made beans from scratch before. These were excellent! The only meat I used was bacon and some leftover pancetta. I was eating the last serving of beans when I was eating some nacho cheese Doritos. I put the beans on top of a Dorito and WOW! It was a flavor bomb! Thanks again for the recipe!

looks so good. I'll be doing these tomorrow. I normally just cook a pot of beans with veggies, jalapenos onion garlic etc... and I spice up the water with Worcestershire and hot sauce.

Great recipe, What I like about this recipe is you can make subtle changes in it to suit your own taste. I made it for the first time today and have been eating it all day. The small change I made was I put a few table spoons of chili powder in it as it was cooking (It just seemed to scream for it). I was not wrong in doing so, I am the only person in my house to eat it. I think next time I make it I will omit the hot dog wieners and maybe use some kielbasa or nothing. At any rate good recipe.

I have made this recipe a number of times, as far as saying it's good falls short, it's delicious. It's also KETO I make this OFTEN and venture to say it's the best recipe I have found online for me.

I remember that smell through out the house as kid in 1965

My wife is from Laredo, and I lived in Texas for 30 years. I also worked at two Mexican restaurants. Neither of us has EVER seen hot dogs in charro beans. However, I have just watched four videos in a row, and all of them use hot dogs. Go figure! I just texted 10 family members in San Antonio and Laredo, all Mexicans, and they all say they have never heard of this. Weird. If I were on death row, my last meal would be hot dogs, but I really can't envision them in my charro beans:)

I don't use hot dogs. But I do put in chicarron at the end. Add a lil water at a time depending how thick I want it. So I can tacos out of them. Comes out 🔥. I'm growing ghost peppers so I might change it up a bit.
