At $1,400 US, it's a significant oversight by Fender to NOT spec stainless frets on this instrument, especially given the target customer, and the fact that torrefied maple is not as easy to refret.

I had my heart set of a strat until I tried a Charvel. Bang for buck features and sound for buck tones it blew out everything else in the same price range and punched well above its weight. I would to to hear you do some gear demos using it.

I have the shell pink one, it is great! As a lefty pink is rarely a colour you get to pick on instruments so I got it mostly for the colour and figured I would have to put in pick ups that suited me... This was not the case, it has so many tones and all are very usable. Only thing that bugged me is that it didn't come with stainless steel frets but that's a minor gripe. Peace and take care

My first thoughts were , Pink! Fck No!! After seeing the guitr in person, my attitude towards the guitar changed. The pink is a soft shell color and is very calming.

Yeah, i thought you'd gone over to the metal side when I first spied this Charvel a while back :-) Turns out to be a very nice guitar all round, with intelligent and useful pickup selections. Being under the Fender umbrella there's no worries about the headstock shape, either.

Looks and sounds great. Thought about buying a Charvel at some point. Like my black strat, that guitar is a bit of a fingerprint magnet. At least with a pick-guard, it doesn't show up so much. I do like some of Charvel's Matt colour finished guitars. They're basically Fender's modern strats. Nice.

I was wondering where this guitar came from!! I am totally surprised how versatile the tones this guitar has. Having a HH configuration with both a five way switch and the parallel/series switches opens up plenty of possibilities.🎸🎸😎😎🎸🎸

Charvel often flies under the radar they are absolutely solid guitars--when you want a non-traditional Strat, this is usually where I tell people to start their search. Great video!

Great review, that is a very musical sounding guitar with lots of tone options. I agree with you on the neck; I tried a Charvel pro-mod DK24 and the thin neck isn't my favorite.

I have two Charvels...the Pro Mod series...San Dimas and So-Cal. They are my favorite super strat guitars by far. So versatile...you can play anything with just a little tweaking.

"Caramelized" is just another fluffy marketing term for Torrefaction. The word sounds, "sweeter" and less harsh than, "roasted." There are no standardized distinctions between caramelized, roasted, tempered, rectified, etc.

Hello Bro, this is Dennis from Tulsa. I thought that guitar sounds great. As a lefty Iam always really glad when someone sends you a guitar, I know you tell it like it is. I don't know how this happens but it seems like I when you get a guitar I do to and at the same time. It's almost spooky! I'm in line for the new lefy Epiphone 58 all Korina Flying -V. So maybe 🤔 Epiphone will send you one. I sure would like to see you put one to the test. To me over $1200 is a hell of allot of money don't you think? At my age I thought this was the only chance I would have to get my hands on one. I hope I get it paid off before I pass on. As always thank you for all you do for us lefty's and guitar players in general. If you are ever close to Tulsa on your visits to the States you are always welcome here, Rock on my friend...

Great demo, Shane! But let me say that a $400 US premium for a lefty makes me give this a hard pass. It doesn't cost that much to turn the CNC machine around.

I traded my Strats for Charvels. I have the Japanese Guthrie Govan model, the Chlorine Burst version of what you are playing and a Pro Mod 2. The necks are very similar on all 3 guitars. Best neck out there in my opinion.

dare I say I like Charvel more than Fender. I bought my son a San Dimas Tele 4yrs ago and it is amazing and has doubled in price since then! good investment for the boy 👍✌😎

I haven't seen a lefty sire guitar in person yet. And lead time to order one was around 6 months last i checked. I had a lower end sire bass for a couple years, and had the preamp not died at the same time as a deal on a fender jazz came up, I'd still have it

One of the nicest neck profiles I ever felt was on a righty Charvel. I tried out a So-Cal at Sky Music and that neck was completely different and not to my taste. I like everything about this guitar, but would have preferred an alternative to the black & black on black look.

I seriously think Shane would like the DK22 even more than the the DK24 because of the pickups. These guitars are like having a favorite band that no one else is listening to right before that band blows up. They are so underrated and sneaky good. Highly recommended!

Recently bought the Charvel Pro Mod San Dimas HSS HT Platinum Pearl and really love a super strat with a hard tail. The factory Seymour Duncans are nice! Maybe a Sassafrass next?

I dont own one, but I dig the Platinum Pearl. A really cool guitar thats great to play. Haven't tried the Sassafras body one but I'd like too. Cant go wrong with a hardtail

Are they using the right (left handed) audio taper in these guitars for volume and tone? I'm asking because you pointed out how well the guitar responds to the knobs.

Fender tend to use the correct pots. I've very rarely had issues with the taper on any of the Fender stuff.

Are the pickups adjustable for height on yours? I read online in a forum that these aren't able to have the height adjusted but I tried it on mine and it works, though it was a bit tighter to screw at first. I just wanna make sure I didn't just screw mine up doing that as I just got it lol. I love this guitar though! The bridge and neck pickups were just VERY high up when I got it off the delivery truck yesterday. If you could answer I would appreciate that so much! Great playing and great guitar! Mine is the DK24 HH in Chlorine Burst!

Good question, but I haven't checked whether or not I can adjust the height. I wouldn't be surprised if these are adjustable like most guitar pickups.

Caramelized just means not roasted too much. It means the resins aren't destroyed. Consider that caramelized sugar is not brittle, but like a sort of glue.

I tend to judge a guitar on its clean tones, and those are were killer. I honestly could not hear any difference between the parallel switching. But overall, some great tones!

I've played one. You really need to hear it in person. The differences are more subtle and I think it's harder to hear on a YT video.

I tried a Charvel San Dimas at a store once years ago. I'm really into EVH style guitars (I have a music man Axis), and love strats. So I thought I would love the San Dimas. But the neck shape felt really weird to me. Was really bummed out to find out I didn't like it lol

haha! Thanks, Scott. :) It's a Walmart special from my last trip to the US. PRS can't seem to nail the split coil sounds very well for some reason, but I like their humbucker tone a lot.

Great guitar but mine sadly had QC issues. A big ball of varnish above the nut and the neck pickup was screwed in crooked. Had to return it. Sadly that's the third guitar with QC issues after a PRS silver sky and HB les paul with the emgs. Seems like a trend (a bad one)

Why don’t they all offer an option to have stainless steel frets ? I have a Revstar from Yamaha and has ss frets and it costs less than than the charvel

ive found Chavel necks to be thicker than Jackson dinky necks. Really not that far off from the fender modern C except its compound 12-16 so slightly flatter. But playing chords shouldn't be fatiguing for most people.

Charging extra for leftys is a joke , if they took 1 extra minute during packaging at the factory packing them in an airtight plastic bag to prevent tarnishing so they could be stored for a year or 2 at the factory then the whole worry that they dont sell as fast wouldnt be a concern, and they would have more stock on demand to supply to dealers

That’s across the board on all US sites and Thomman still has a 12% markup or so. Fender doesn’t allow discounted pricing by a dealer so my guess is that this applies to Charvel.
