I love the Mooer pitchbox. When I’m feeling lazy and don’t wanna change tunings on my guitar, I use that bad boy to drop or raise my tuning. It’s super accurate and very very low latency. You have to listen really close on chords to even tell it’s shifted. It works really well for that Balance era Van Halen tone too!
I just bought a brand new one and it was delivered yesterday from Canada. It was bought several years back and never used. Bought it because of one of your videos. Turns out not only does it sound just like EVH in his Hagar era, but it's a cool little pedal for other tunes through my BE-50 deluxe Friedman amp. This with my Boss RV-6 pedal sounds mind blowing. Thanks! Who knew this was such an invaluable pedal? Evidently, Jake did.
Johnny in your opinion, if im wdw would i use two of these going to my two wet sides, one at -2 and the other at +2? Im trying to figure out a way to come out of my boss sde 3000evh to get the proper detune sound on a budget.
The pitch box is awesome jake, I got it after watching your vid, I have an mxr evh phase 90, now need to get the delay, i have a noss katana artist mk1 and I generally play evh stuff on the brown channel and use the on board flange effect if needed, sounds pretty good
Jake, quick question for you brother...the settings for the TC Flashback mini? Are they all set at 12 o'clock, or was that just the thumbnail pic? Desperate to know! Thanks, Dan
Thanks! I just placed an order for two out of the three pedals. I've been playing for years but never been a pedal guy. I'm just looking for something to help get closer to that tone. I love all VH but I lean towards the Hagar years more.
Great video Jake!! I have the Mooer PitchBox & love it. Need to check out the delay pedal. My Peavey Amp has both phase & delay but it doesn’t have many options.
Great video, man! Your demos are really cool. I have a question about the pitch box though. Do you think it would work nicely as a more subtle effect on Eddie's softer 90's songs like 316, Cant stop lovin' you, and the intro to Feelin'? Or would you say its more suited for the heavier tones like in the songs you played in the video? Thank you!
Nice video but what is your settings on the flashback mini and also is your amp set on a clean setting or do these pedals have the distortion let me know thanks
Thank You , Thank You!! For posting this VH pedals it makes it a lot easier to figure out!! Love it 😍 Thank You for sharing your techniques!! I’m going to order me one ☝️ now!! Lol 😝 beautiful 😻!! Keep up the great work. Do morrreee!!! 😎🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Donner makes a “harmonic square” pitch pedal for about 30 bucks that does exactly what the pitch box does but you can also control your wet and dry signal so it’s almost perfect in capturing that dual rack mount effect he has going on on OU812
Jake are you using the delay in effect loop or in front of amp? Never mind I see that you labeled it on the video 😊. Do you ever use the delay in front of the amp?
@@scottthewozznijak359 if u don’t wanna have to crank an amp super loud, do what I do get a crisp bright clean sound use wampler pinnacle pedal dial that in a bit of plate reverb and tiny amount of delay boom done
Would have been nice to see the pedal settings as player is too busy so you've only got still pics superimposed. Way off here, but also I would be whining buying this stuff and then realizing I need a EVH or Marshall stack to get the sound of your player-at least name the amp and cab and mods he uses. Bonus: you've got a Boston screensaver-are you a MA resident, such as I? THX
Great playing. I don't think the Pitch box is really used on early Van Halen, I don't really get it, just sounds like a heavy chorus to me. The phaser all the way down is a key element, I think even at 9 o'clock is too high. I have the MXR phase 90 mini, got it at a good price. I also have the Flashback delay V1, years ago I found a toneprint of a tape delay that I have never replaced, I set that to one repeat for most VH tunes. You can get a chorus effect from the modulation setting on the Flashback if you set the delay and Feedback very low. I think you need a flanger though - I hate to buy one because I will probably only use it for those few VH tunes that need it (Unchained). Does the EVH lunchbox use EL34s in the power section? Thanks, playing sounds fantastic.
The only DLR era Van Halen that really utilized a pitch shift was Fair Warning. Incredibly noticeable once you listen to the isolated track of “Mean Street”. Great riff to play. Wondered what I was missing, turned my pitch shift on, dialed it in immediately. You wouldn’t really notice it until you do. Just my two cents
I have the MXR Phase 95 Mini, and the MXR Mini Carbon Copy... Both stupendous pedals with more bang for the buck than the larger brothers.... The MOER "Solo" is a great mini Distortion box...
Thanks for sharing! If you have a second, we tried our hand at an Eddie Van Halen tribute video. As fellow music fans, we'd love if you would check it out. It's on our channel. Don't be too tough on us :)
Your dry ,,sounds a hair like eddie's sound but not much..//////////this is the sound ,,phas90 chorus ,metal distortion ,no reverb, comp,, /////// ... Jose load box helps
