Well, the broadcaster's voice is how I make my living. Anyone can do it, trust me. All you have to have is the desire. The train knowledge comes from love of the hobby as does the video editing. Your kind comments are much appreciated. DH
I knew that was concrete segmental construction, like the Skyway. Just never seen it done before. Did not know it was cables doing the binding. It's really stunning to see it in progress. Thanks for that info. DH
Thankx again Danny nice work ,but I sure miss all the older roads as a long time Santa Fe modeler . All the great stuff is long gone I guess we got about five road name's left.
I concur with Aaron (csxboy 187) near Drew park is a rough place to be at after dark, I also railfanned the Clearwater Sub from Largo to Tampa, Clearwater and St. Pete are both rough as well even in the day, good work Mr. Harmon
Great video! I see O700 at least twice a week if not more, and have several videos of it. Of course it helps when you commute along busch blvd every day! Really enjoyed it and faved!!!
Any other videos of the former Tampa Northern or the current Clearwater sub? In particular curious to see the North end of the line not to familiar with this route. Also any footage of a local switching the brewery at Busch Gardens before was torn torn and tracks removed, any thing in St. Pete?
Wow! What I would give for your broadcaster's voice! Also, I'm fascinated by your knowledge of train operations and your superb videography. I could watch this kind of production all day.
I use to work on one of those railvacs they are noisy and dusty machines. They are desgiened to suck out mud spots and help with cut in and cut out a TLM
it was good to see 6900 and slug, I serviced and done 92 day on that unit , I dont know how many times over the years at winston shop, witch is now closed I heard
Interesting that 2315 is a road slug and seems permanently hooked to that 6900. I thought it was weird that it didn't have any radiator vents so I went and looked up what it was.
no problem, you should come up to michigan sometime and i can show you some good spots to catch trains. btw is lakeland getting track upgrades because i see new ballast has been layed for the second main line track?
If you are wondering how the bridge surfaces at the Crosstown Connector at 0:50 at FL 60 are hanging there, it is practically easy: Inside the hollow tube where the roadway rides above, there are a series of cables that hold the segments in place that go to the nearest support column. Once the segments are joined additional cabling is installed to hold the segments in place; construction is practically the same as the present 1987 Sunshine Skyway. Great video by the way!
Looks like I missed this one back when it was uploaded. I liked this one a lot, a true no-nonsense approach to the hobby we all love that was well thought out and well produced. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the randoms you've got coming along on the edit table.
Don't feel bad Danny. I have gotten thrown out of Winston yard and I wasn't even taking videos. I called Katch and he said best to stay out nowdays because of the new terrorism and safety rules. That sure sucks because Winston was a good place to watch trains.
this is my side of town. I see this train ALL the time :) Thanks for uploading this! it's cool to see this in action (it's a rare ocassion I see this train en route to either the distribution OR to downtown)
Danny your videos are some of the best I have seen on RU-vid. You are an excellent presenter and your information is quite interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Great catch on the 'private varnish' behind AMTRAK. While you might want to ride one to Miami, my dream involves *owning* a Vista Dome and roaming North America as the spirit moves me... Fantastic video, sir. Cheers!
I haven't chased any locals, but a lot of them near me are chaseable and have a lot of potential, given nobody gives a shit about getting them on these spurs
If I had too much money and could afford my own private rail car I'd be coupled in right behind them. Call me pathetic if you must but I'd have my OWN railcar! :-P
Awesome Chase Danny on CSXT O700 really enjoyed it. You were in my neck of the woods near drew park I live only 1 mile away from that area. Its not a great place to be at when its night time just a rough place to be at. Great video all around Danny. I enjoyed it! Aaron Van Amburg
Hi Mike: Did you mean June 1st? If you're shipping out Oct 1st, I'll definitely have a few new videos done by then. Good luck in boot camp and.... thanks for your service. DH
Hello Danny. You have some really nice narration skills, great videos and great train captures too. 6:15 great to see LA Rail PVs out all the way in Tampa. May visit some places like Plant City and Orlando in the near future.
It's fun seeing parts of Tampa. I know the city well, but not the rail lines. I've seen one of those ballast cleaning machines working here in Kentucky on the old L&N main, now CSX Louisville division main line sub. Pretty cool. But, Danny....did you run that crossing signal? Of all people. Smh. Great video. You do such a great job of narration with great shots.
Danny anytime you want to go rail fanning up here in North Florida (near Waldo, Starke, Anthony etc) Let me know! Would love to share some track and trains with you!
I really enjoy watching and listening to you. You catch some nice video of some really old rolling stock. Was wondering have you or are you a radio or T.V. voice? Your voice is so smooth and easy to listen to.
My hat's off to you some of these crossing don't look like your Sunday go to meeting hangout places. You've got your closed switching tower with graffiti with a lot of desolated places. Then there was the couch there on the side of one street, but I guess you are going to find a degree of urban decay in every city. Hey we even have it in our city. I know what you mean about chasing locals. We have short line that runs on ex TC, exL&N, exCSX and you never know when they're coming through. They have to work around morning and afternoon commuter rail. They often haul crushed stone into the city as well as sand for asphalt paving. It's as if they have their own class one railroad though they interchange with CSX and terminate about four or five counties east of Nashville. I've watched them go from a rag tag bunch GE U25s to all Dash 8s all with four axle configurations.
Union Pacific Fan slugs have no engine, therefore they do not need a radiator, and they have a cab so the engineer can control the "mother" unit from the slug
