Wow that drone really gives a birds eye perspective on the curve there at Owensboro. When I used to run through there we had to slow down because the curve was sharper than a knife. If we had gone through there at that speed, we could have picked flowers out the window as we rolled! Also that picture of the old crossing and the US-301 bridge is amazing! I've only seen one before of it and there was a little shanty that someone manned in that photo. Thanks Danny and also thanks to Fred Clark, Jr. For sharing this.
The thing about tracks being cut off, as a resident in Jacksonville, i live close to CSX's Kingsland Subdivision, i found out some time ago that the line was originally called Everett Subdivision since the tracks used to go into Savannah, GA however the tracks were cut off in the mid 80's and now it ends in Seals, which is north of Kingsland, also i happen to discover this by complete accident, in the Dennis street area, just close to TTX's shop there's some street running tracks on Harper and Swan Street, the tracks leading to those streets were removed sometime in the 80's, then i discovered that there's two S-Line rail trails, one stretches between Norwood and East 21st and the other stretches between Boulevard St. and Myrtle Ave. i can guess those tracks were removed sometime between the 70's or 80's.
Danny, I've been watching many of your videos and I think the quality of filming and your narration is excellent. I don't get many opportunities to travel over to the States to railfan, so watching your videos really makes up for this.
You mention the Bone Valley often in your videos and last night whilst watching some reality show about python hunters in Florida, I got to see what you mention. They went to the abandoned phosphate plant. Huge. Reports from TV stations back in the day mentioned the ecological disaster that was part of this plant, and the rise in cancer and other related diseases for folks who purchased homes that developers constructed in or near the plant. What a mess! In one scene, using her cell phone app and checking for radon emissions, a four is dangerous and her check showed a 3 on the radon scale. They did catch two huge pythons and 3 kiddie pythons. There's a bounty on pythons, it seems, plus you can sell the skin for boots, I guess. Now, back to your excellent video.
You have the most well produced, interesting and informative rail-fan channel on RU-vid. I have learned so much and really enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Excellent. Your drone shots are very good and significantly improve our understanding of the territory you have been covering in your great videos over the years. I need to watch multiple times just to absorb all the details.
You do such great work Danny....thank you!! Really enjoy your work. You inpired me to get back out there chasing trains, I even bought a new scanner! Thank you for sharing you talent, your knowledge & passion with us railfans.
Danny you do a fine job on keepup with the trains when i was younger coal trains in east ky was great now trains do not come around no more i miss hearing the trains and flowing the with the scanner Jacksonville i headed all the time now i do not hear them coll out the blocks anymore
Danny.. it's been said over and over and its worth saying again.. your footage, the drone view, the info provided all done with your narration..you have the very best channel out there for us to enjoy. Thank you so much for sharing your time and knowledge with us. It's always most interesting. Tom
One of the nice things about the drone coverage is that it lets us see what is in those gondolas; interesting mix of stone and crushed stone. Great video once again Danny. You always seem to have such a good time out there railfanning.
Love your "railroad archeology"! I often see the juice train near Acca Yard here in the Richmond area. I'm also in Ashland frequently and note the juice train brings special attention from those around when it splits Railroad Av through the middle of town--something about being that close to those big oranges!
@@distantsignal it's nice to see a bay window caboose!......but anyways, great video again!......and he's right you should come and railfan Louisiana! I'm on the UP main line to Addis a former MP yard so theres a lot of spots to see trains
What's crazy to me, is the fact that South Lakeland is A851.7 and the place where I go to railfan, south of Richmond, Virginia, is the A26.7.. 825 miles south of me and sees mostly the same traffic! (with some exceptions) Love the video, as always!
Love the variety of units you feature. This has been one reason I follow your channel. Your knowledge of trains, units, and routes is amazing. Keep posting, Danny, and I will keep watching.
That Q453 looked like some of the monster trains that FEC has been running for years now, with blocks of autoracks, followed by aggregate hoppers, followed by mixed freight.
Great video again Danny... I always think an unused rail line is such a sad sight. I know it is a bit silly... but seeing a rail line laying there, waiting for the train that will never come is so sad. In the south west part of Western Australia where I live, up to 400km from Perth, North, south or East, I love finding trains on the country lines, but too many lines have been abandoned over the years..
Anytime I get a notification that you have uploaded a video, I get instantly excited! Your production quality is off the charts amazing! I truly loved this video! Please keep them coming and thanks for all your hard work to bring us quality productions!
Or the Philadelphia PA area or across from it in NJ. I recently discovered some great spots in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia where some beautiful shots of trains can be had.
Growing up in Dade City I remember where the SAL came through town, and lots (and lots) of rides over the overpasses at Owensboro where U.S. 301 went over the tracks
Good job Danny great aerial shots with your drone keep up all the great work you made my day with your video peace out into the world that have a great day your railroad documentaries are my favorite you're such a good narrator
Seeing an abandoned shop suggests to me that there might have been a rail/way/road station situated there in days gone by. BTW Great video. I'm from Australia and , thanks to You Tube, I can watch rail videos from around the world.
Excellent footage and commentary! Just for future reference, CSX symbols do not have a dash in the symbol between the letter designation and the train number, and between the rest of the symbol and the origin date, for example, a Q453 originating on the 1st would show up on the CSX Mainframe, Paperwork and the Dispatcher Display as "Q45301".
Correct, but I don't get into the date minutiae. I shoot a lot of trains and it's sometimes weeks before I get around to editing. Too much room for errors in that time expanse.
I genuinely love This channel, it's so interesting am I like how you give a lot of info of the rails and where they go and all the info on trains Lots of love from England. :)
I don't know how many videos you have listed here, but I think there are more still to come, very interesting catches an comments which I have enjoyed as well, I will keep looking (searching) to see if there are more, you should put them on disk and sell the disks, I believe a lot of loyal RR enthusiasts would be interested, I am from Canada near Hamilton, Ontario where it used to be very busy lines (CN & CP) now the traffic has decreased very much, keep up the great work, I enjoy your videos very much, Canada clear.
Fantastic video as usual. You get better each time. Don't know how that is possible but you do! The non-rail-related items in this video were the nesting Osprey and the worlds fastest lawnmower?
You have set the a high standard by which to measure railfan videos. You offer a viewer experience that I couldn't duplicate, even equipped with the same toys. A real-life ride with you would be plenty interesting, but it is the video that permits the the assembly of information, the variety of perspectives and the distillation of of events in time, layered with entertaining parentheticals. Perhaps the the only improvement is to park my RV, trackside, deploy the BBQ and watch your channel on the big screen, with the sound turned up. If you see me, stop by.
Distant Signal Well now that A782 is based out of Winston just about everything between Winston and roughly Ocala goes south on Q603 before going back north (there’s a new Baldwin-Ocala A symbol local but I forget the exact symbol).
I wouldn’t be surprised if some of those racks on Q-453 came from the honda plant in greensburg, IN. I work the rail yard behind the plant and know that they ship some loads to palm center and other Florida locations.
Good of you to give the Osprey her space, Danny - there's been quite a few videos on the news of birds defending their personal space against drones/cameras....& the majority of the time, the birds win.
Wow N-040 came from just north of me. (By road, that train traveled 882 miles to get to that recording spot (Kinda shocked that coal goes that far.)) Oaktown, IN is basically a hole in the wall of 600 people. There is an underground mine just East of town owned by Sunrise Coal LLC. It attaches to the CSX C E & D line that runs in Western Indiana. (Can get video if you like.)
