Oh I didn’t know that GP7U still runs I only saw 2014 with 2016 when I saw the grapevine vintage railroad. I’m hoping to return here to visit the stockyards to get a good look.
Yea the GP7u still runs. It’s always cool to see 2016 and 2014 paired together but I’m glad the GP7u ran instead of 2014 because even though I love the FL9s I don’t like the horn 2014 has. 2016 is my fav of the GVRR fleet
@@Ferromexfan4081 the 2014 still has the same two out of the five "bells" working on that horn that it did when it was still in service for Metro North. Probably just needs to be rebuilt, ti would sound great. It was the only FL-9 to have an RS-5T.
Grapevine Vintage Railroad has two of these FL-9s. They named them cookies and cream. Cookies is FL-9 #2014 and Cream is FL-9 #2016. Classic EMD FL-9. Chasing the GVRR with a former New Haven FL-9. The FL-9 has a K5LA which sounds good. Cream the FL-9 and Vinny the GP7U.
12:04 now there is a railroad crossing, worth visiting in future videos that I’m going to do. What makes it special is it is the last crossing on the cotton belt line that has mechanical crossing bells on both signals on both sides of the crossing, and they have been modified to only ring when the gates go down but when they’re in the down position or when they rise, the bells, don’t ring probably because they are very loud compared to an electronic, crossing bell
I agree it’s a good crossing but I wish they made it ring till gates rise like Mid cities blvd. Mid cities Blvd is my fav crossing on the Texrail line bc the mechanical bell and it rings while gates are down
@@Ferromexfan4081 in the early days of Texrail the bells originally rang constantly I remember the first year I rode TexRail in 2019 I could hear the bells as I passed the crossing either going to Grapevine or back to Fort Worth. I guess later on the neighborhood started to complain, so they had to modify the bells to only ring once and stop for the rest of the circuit.
@@Ferromexfan4081 no we haven’t touched it all. We’ve mainly been focusing on keeping our cars cool with the air conditioning units since it’s very hot outside recently. I don’t know if and when we’ll have any new updates
