Best RU-vid golf channel out there. Great tips that work, no annoying music - but mainly, Iona just loves and respects the game, seems like few channels are like that anymore.
Young lady, you offer genuine insight and interest into this game. There are plenty online who seek to entertain, educate and some confuse! But Iona, continue to keep it real🏌🏾♂️
Took up golf again during the lock down, last played early 20s now 59. Have loved learning how to play the game, joined a club for the first time 18 months ago. Have managed to get my handicap down to 7.9 and so motivated to get it down further. Now retired and playing most days. Love the wee nuggets you give like concentrating on what you are trying to achieve rather than the outcome makes great sense to me, thanks for that.
You are one of the best and most genuine content creators out there. I hope you get to achieve your goals. Keep creating wonderful videos and sharing you insight. Chin up!
Enjoying this series Iona! I play off 2 currently and like the idea of pushing just a bit each round to go into "my red". On equipment, beyond a standard fitting, I think just finding clubs that feel comfortable is the most important thing. I play persimmon 1/3/5 woods and my "players" irons are 7 years old. So I guess I bum out the golf industrial complex that is always pushing the latest and greatest, but having loads of fun trying to play some good golf!!
just such a lovley striker of a golf ball none of this fade it right or left stuff just straight and true lovley to watch and learn from. Nice video again Iona
As part of your IG Community I look forward to hearing from you and so enjoy your videos. Keep leading the YT golf world with your incredible content. Cheers!
Really like the channel. I find it great to see how someone who hits most clubs around the same as me can score so much better. Inspires me to do better
All the tips you give are so beneficial. I'm struggling with driver at the moment(high and spinny). I think a combination of lowering my tee height (I set up with half the ball above the top of the club) and trying to stay tall rather than holding my weight forward and compressing into the ball is going to help. We've all said it before and I'll say it again, this is the best channel on RU-vid.
Dear Iona, I clearly want to thank you for all the videos you post. They are inspiring and very well done. I am looking forward to seeing more of them. Thanks a lot for all that you do. Someone of your community.
Your style of presentation is so engaging. The commentary is full of great tips and ways to think strategically. I hope your neck is better. I’m a bogey golfer and get red about once every round.
Iona…just love your content. I’m a 9.5 handicap player, so my Red is getting under 80. I worked really hard last year to find a swing and tempo that held up for an entire round. I have some injuries in my spine and my wrists have an extra small bone in them (genetic anomaly) that don’t allow them to bend, or pronate, like others, so swinging a club would hurt in a more traditional swing, and modifications were necessary. Lots of work! I really found agreement with your comment around par 3’s. As I was working to become a better overall player, I focused hard on par 3’s and also par 5’s. I found that if I played those holes at par or better, my entire round felt stable. The result is I played the par 3’s and 5’s at an 81% success rate of par or better for the 2023 season. My biggest hurdle now is scoring on the par 4’s, which are long on my home course, so my GIR’s on the 4’s need improvement. My bogeys and or doubles come mostly from missing greens on the 4’s and not getting up and down. It’s fascinating to me how mentally my mistakes tend to show up more on the 4’s now. I believe after the winter is past, with the work I’m doing indoors, and a fresh mental perspective for the par 4’s, my RED will be under 78 this spring…and a handicap under 7 is in reach. Keep up the exceptional content…it is very inspiring. 😊
Iona, your instruction on how to set up to hit the Driver was so helpful. Not feeling confident when hitting the Driver has really held my golf progression back. Thanks so much for your wonderful videos and instructions.
I have recently been focusing on the three critical things: "intention, attention and attitude" - it's a wonderful thing! You and this series are incredibly inspiring! You have a very unique format - it's really amazing that this type of content doesn't exist ANYWHERE else!! I'm loving it and can't get enough! The series strikes the right balance between content that's of interest without being a "golf swing" video! yet I get so much from just watching you play and listening to all of the content!🥰
Love your videos, enjoy watching you play, superb production of your videos and always manage to take a little “nugget” away from listening to you talk about your game
Love the presentation and the way the various issues, thoughts and actual golf strokes change on each hole and course. Such an easy watch and so many different things discussed so not all on one aspect. Also shows you can play without hitting 300 yard drives all the time. Keep it up! Any chance amateur golfers can start playing with more than 14 clubs to have even more variety?
My chasing the red is currently 3 over. Enjoy your content as it gives justification and insight into decisions I've taken. Floated around 9 / 10 handicap, but was tired and had wrist pain, so 2 years ago took a leap of faith and went for lighter shafts, it worked, now enjoying every game and hope in 2024 I get close to scratch. My age 50.
Love these videos, Iona. Talking of playing night golf in a nice temperature. I played in Dubai a few years ago at 9pm and the temp was 42! We just about made the 9 holes!
Another great video, Iona. Night golf looks like so much fun. That mix up on the 18th! Years ago, I was standing in a fairway sizing up a long carry over water to a front pin. And my friend asked me if I knew which green I was going to play to - the proper one was at a right angle left of where I was looking. Every single hole for the rest of round I endured; "Oh, Brian? The green is over here." Iona, I couldn't agree more about making pars on the par 3s! We under club, and swing out of our shoes; or get far too aggressive going for pins. Par 3s without the right strategy is where the doubles or worse can happen so fast.
Iona , what an outstanding golf course listening to the play by play of each shot plus the tips was awesome ..chasing the red is one of my favorite series look forward to each episode keep up the spectacular work ... wish you the best of luck on your journey ... hope to see you playing tournaments soon ....peace
Iona I'm loving your videos, what I like about them is the way you show people how to look at a course and the way to play it as well. It's not just tee ot up and hit the big dog, think of where you want to play too. You always give good advice. Keep making great videos thank you.
Love your insight and the in the red series is the best on RU-vid, loved the Adam Scott videos. My handicap is 10.2 and last weekend shot 7 and 8 over respectively off the tips at my home course. Keep up the great work Iona
Love your videos your sincerity is obvious and enjoyment of the game oozes out of you and your natural ability in front of the camera endears you to all of your audience. Really enjoy your channel and your videos. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
Awesome n looking forward to watching the vid😊 That was another great episode with awesome 'extra instructional tips.. Hadn't heard the keep your head high before so will give that a go.. You really do take us with you from an emotional and experience point of view.. As you said, that put really hurt (also from behind the screen)..
Another great video Iona. You pull the viewer in, in a way that makes us feel we are there and part of it. As for chasing the red, I regularly have periods where I am on it and breaking my handicap but the chances of me breaking par for a round are pretty slim. Looking forward to watching you trying to qualify for The Open.
Great watch as usual and good insight and learnings. One thing for me is I’m not great but always striving to get better and cannot seem to get rid of wasting a shot by fatting, thinning or topping. Really frustrating and is always with my woods, mainly use 5 wood. Ant tips welcome would love some feedback as it’s a joy to watch you skelp that 5 wood for miles.
“Give it laldy” 😂 a proper Scottish phrase 😁 love the insight you provide during your round. Even though I don’t play anymore I still enjoy watching golf videos like this 👏
I love watching your videos. Your presenting skill with guests is superb, and this chasing the red series is riveting to watch & full of very good advice.
Hi Iona, These videos are so inspirational and I am looking at taking up golf. Watching your videos are good are showing me where I go with my practice and learning .
Regarding bag set up for typical UK winter conditions, what 7 clubs would you include in a pencil bag and why? You are delivering a very enjoyable, educational and encouraging set of videos - thank you so much.
Lovely video. As a super senior (66 years old) I am a 9 handicap. On my course, Dufferin Heights in Stanstead Quebec Canada, I consider under 80 to be in the red. Dufferin is a hilly course with tricky greens. I warn first timers that the only flat spot is the parking lot, so most fairway shots require slope adjustments. Flat landers beware!
I've not played golf in 30 years but watching your content, listening to your advice and seeing your enjoyment and enthusiasm to share your knowledge and joy for the game with everyone has got me feeling like I might give it another go again. Another brilliant video, love all the content and good luck if you do decide to enter some tournaments and compete next year
Loving this series, another great video with great golf and insights. Have recently been to the range a few times after not playing for over 25yrs, so my red at the moment is just to find some consistency of shot and distance and avoid a wild slice😅
Great video. Cardinal sin of walking it in on the last hole, 😂. Good shooting though. Night golf looks amazing, will get my first taste in Abu Dhabi in January, so looking forward to it.
I really love the positive tips you always give and I know looking at you how cross you are when you have a bad hole, something we can all relate to,keep up the good work ❤
Enjoyed it as always! As our area is approaching "winter golf" (~10 C), I am using your tips with the goal of maintaining my handicap at 7 until the spring launches again. Can't ask too much from these old 64 year-old bones during the cold. Keep the great content coming!
I love the way it’s so calm when you’re playing golf it’s certainly made me slow down think through shots. My game always seems so quick, rushed and I don’t necessarily get the outcome that I’m looking for so my takeaway is slow down think it through rather than just smash it forward and deal with the outcome. I just wanted to say that because it’s changing my game thanks so much.👍
I'm a 24 HCP and been one for God knows how long. This autumn I took 3 lessons and I suddenly broke 90 for the first time ever😊 Then of course winter came and I have to wait 5 months before I can hit a golf ball outside again. In the meanwhile I'm cherishing these little golden nuggets of golf wisdom you're sharing and hope they will get me in the red when spring comes ❤
Nothing better than your content!! The interviews are stellar and The Red series is captivating. I also enjoy the vocab, cracking and niggles always make me smile. You’re the genuine article 👍🏻
Brilliant and informative Iona. Tournament golf wow hope so. I play off 24 but have had a number of lessons in the last few months and my game is improving. Thanks for the tips ⛳️🏌🏾♂️
I love your "Chasing the Red" videos and from them, I try to absorb your tempo. I'm 63 years old now and also having taken a 20-year break from golf, I found out last year that I've lost 40+ yards of distance from my driver. A lot of that had to do with my knees and diabetes which had taken a neurological toll on me. However, I started practicing anyway and took advantage of the restart to teach myself a newer, more effective swing for my age. It all started to come back. I regained 20+ yards on my drives but our golf season here in Minnesota ends with winter. I ended up having my right knee replaced in November and I'm currently recovering from that so watching your videos is truly inspiring. I REALLY want to have your swing tempo because I find now that I'm hitting the ball the same distance as you... and I'm comfortable with that. It's just that your ball striking is just SO consistent and seemingly pure. I'd love to find fairways and greens like you do with such a consistently effortless swing. Just beautiful to watch. Continued happiness and success to you Iona...
Can’t believe that last putt ! Loved the tips. Weather in Scotland as I type this is just horrible. My home course has been shut since last Thursday and not guaranteed to be open tomorrow either. (Tuesday) Course will be like a swamp and so jealous of you / others getting to play in nice conditions. Won’t back down though 😁😂👍🏻
You have to realize Iona that all the dialogue and other distractions will affect your golf along with sometimes hurrying your shots because of that and feeling like you have to get going. I'm not complaining; you're great at it and give great insights and stories along the way which is why I enjoy watching you golf
The simple fact that you are out there, playing, after your "journey", is inspiration all by itself, ma'am. The great courses around the world and the talk about the course, your play, your experiences, etc., is just extra gravy!
Another great video Iona - feeling a little bit jealous that I had to play golf here in frosty Inverness whilst you're enjoying the warmth of Dubai but to play golf in any conditions is a blessing
Another excellent video and some great tips and insight. I only wished my golf swing was as pure as yours, despite your neck pain. Well done keeping them coming 😊😊
I love this series! I have had health problems and am literally relearning the game and this series gives me grand tips for practicing and playing and what great players think! Best gold content on RU-vid!❤
I really like your tips like Judging yourself on the shot and if you achieved the shot you were trying to play, and the making Par on all the Par 3's is simple but would relate to all of us
One of the takeaways from your videos was the relationship to one's own clubs, as you mention in this video. I took up golf again last year, after almost 20 years of not playing due to various reasons, and after a brief, frustrating experiment with a few models I ended up with my old putter I used during my junior days (all other clubs I changed because well, they're twenty-odd years old) and finally gained confidence again on the greens. Thank you again for the great content and the tremendous videos, Iona.
Iona, another great episode! I love your concept of each person has their own “red”. My red is to shoot in the 70’s. I only do it a few times per year but it’s fun when it happens! I also really enjoy your instructional tips!
