Wildlife Photography in Jhalana Leopard Reserve, Rajasthan
I've spent the last 13 months filming Indian Leopards in Jhalana for a broadcast film that will release globally in 2025. I've completed 6 filming schedules so far with more to follow. In this short video, we're going to find out about the challenges of tracking and capturing these elusive animals on camera, showcasing their untamed beauty in a forest at the backdrop of Jaipur city. Jhalana has been meticulously preserved to safeguard the Indian Leopard, amidst our encroaching civilization. Historically inhabited by tigers as well, this small patch of forest now stands as a vital sanctuary for these endangered big cats.
All the wildlife sequences were filmed in 8K RAW at 50fps. A big shoutout to Exascend for supporting my work and sending me the 1TB CF Express memory card. Being dust resistant, weatherproof, impact resistant, X-RAY safe and magnetic resistant, it's the perfect recording media for RAW video and high-speed photography in burst mode. You can pick one up for yourself right here.

Excellent. Wildlife photography or videography is not an easy task, like in cinema you can retake if there’s any fault in filming but in wildlife it’s not possible. Our full appreciation to the photographer enormous patience he has shown. Wish him all the best with good health 🙏

Thank you for sharing ‎‏It has become an impossible in India to sighting the tiger or leopard with a natural backgrounds ! Scene of safari jeeps background became something regular ! It’s distorting the background scene of leopard passes ! ‎‏the coordination between a safari guides must be obtained for necessity to communicate and organize between them verbally or wirelessly, as it happens in Mara Kenya to allow a natural shot chances As a foreigner planned to India tour with a many of efforts and costs been made Wish to expect a raw natural scene sighting in future

Your presentation skills and obvious love of what you do always make your videos compelling viewing. Animals in the wild can never be predicted. Too many films and videos which may well have taken weeks, months and even years of filming/editing sometimes give the impression that seeing these creatures in the wild can be easy. To have a video like this, showing the failures as well as the successes, should be compulsory viewing for those people whose expectations often surpasses the reality. Incidentally, your speech, enunciation and presentation are pretty much perfect so I don't see why you feel it necessary to include subtitles throughout your film. Very best wishes from Wales.

Thanks for tuning in, my friend. I have 5 series in the pipeline, all filmed. They will release one by one on the channel. The White Panther will resume as soon as I’m back from the jungle where I’m currently filming. Hornbills, Tigers and a lot more will follow over the course of 2024 :)

Reminds me of our recent tiger safari in Ranthambore. We only saw a glimpse of a tiger in the tall grass. Even our guides did not understand why we did not see more tigers. It can be highly frustrating, but nature has it own plans.

Do you take guests on any of your safaris? I never heard about a white panther and it will probably be as elusive as the leopard, but I think there is joy in the search. I just got back from a tiger safari and was thrilled to see an elephant in the wild and a tiger seen that I will make a video of soon.

3:49 - Most photographed leopard in India? I think a certain black furred individual from Kabini may disagree with you there. ;) Great video though - wonderful and honest insight into Jhalana as a place and your photography and filmmaking as a whole.
@KennethLawrencePhotography
@KennethLawrencePhotography 6 месяцев назад
Before I set foot into Jhalana, I would’ve fully agreed that about Saya. But having visited both Kabini and Jhalana, and considering Saya’s lengthy disappearances, I have personally witnessed which cat the ‘photo meter’ points largely to. Nevertheless, both of them are extremely captivating and charismatic. 🙌🏼

Wow, an acclaimed and influential wildlife photographer already supporting the use of AI. Really disheartening to see.
@KennethLawrencePhotography
@KennethLawrencePhotography 6 месяцев назад
Adam, thanks for tuning into my videos. As a nature and wildlife storyteller, it’s my duty to evoke my audiences’ imaginations. AI is a powerful tool that must be implemented responsibly and tactfully. From having the biggest gripe with it in its initial days, I’ve slowly learnt how to embrace it. However, when AI is depicted as reality by the individual generating ‘an image’ - that’s not cool. Keep enjoying the natural world and have a great day, my friend. And no, this wasn’t written on Chat GPT. 😄
@adamernsterwildlife
@adamernsterwildlife 6 месяцев назад
@@KennethLawrencePhotographyunderstandable, but it’s this kind of AI that will one day put you and I out of a job. As a wildlife cameraman myself, it’s important to recognize the difference between the power of a tool and if that tool should be used or not. In my opinion, it’s well worth it to pay an artist to bring your ideas to life, than to support the destruction of our very field.
@KennethLawrencePhotography
@KennethLawrencePhotography 6 месяцев назад
We mustn’t fear anything or anyone. Various streams of competition will keep flowing in to remind us that we are but temporary. For those that evolve and reinvent themselves, there is no loss of a job nor any destruction. My RU-vid channel is non-profit and I intend it to be a life-long service to our natural world. Again, don’t let anybody or anything make you think negatively. See you someday in the field.

Awesome video Kenneth as always, but disheartening to see AI images since you can ask for fellow wildlife photographers for their images in-exchange of shootouts/credit. Also why use AI, when Mrs. Lawrence herself is such an excellent illustrator and artist of fauna.
@KennethLawrencePhotography
@KennethLawrencePhotography 6 месяцев назад
Thank you, my friend. AI isn’t a bad thing, unless it’s passed off as ‘real imagery’. It’s a tool that can be great for many storytellers and creators if used responsibly and imaginatively. On a personal note, I don’t pull wifey out of her work for my personal / non-commercial projects. And asking fellow photographers for their work for free isn’t as easy at it’s assumed to be, especially sourcing photos across several habitats. I hope you understand where I’m coming from. :)
