I'm reading Chastens book right now. I love it, especially the early chapters are SO SO GOOD!! We met Chasten when we volunteered on Petes' campaign. Pete is great but Chasten is so friendly!! I love Chasten! He's so friendly! Both of them have written great books!!

I love that this was covered. I don't think it's covered enough. Most of my friends are in the LGBTQ community. The "coming out" experience for a lot of people, I think, is glossed over. I even know someone who realized he was gay as a teenager, but now as a 31 year old, still tells everyone he's straight. Which (despite how heart breaking) isn't surprising when I know that he grew up with a father who only ever referred to gay men as "c*** smokers". I also had a friend whose parents knew was gay, but when she came out as transgender, she was kicked out at 17.

Whether one is right or left, from my personal experience (I am neutral with regard to same gender couple - view it as their personal choice) - I knew an engineer at a firm in Arizona who never once mentioned about his sexual orientation. Sometimes on Fridays, he was the go to guy for me for all things spiritual & science - he often talked about God, Christ and more. And talked intelligently about his beliefs and the church he attended. I am no saint (and not a christian) and at times, I felt bored, regardless enjoyed talking to him as he talked about science and technology as well. It was only several months later that when I visited him to leave some plants for him to take care during my move, did I realize he was living with a same gender partner. Now who can argue that he was not "christian" enough or any less Godly than say, me ? I am straight! He was one of the finest gentlemen - probably the best that I had come across at that company - integrity, kindness and willingness to help colleagues. And his home - it was clean as a whistle and almost everything from his closet to kitchen things so perfectly arranged that it would make any man or woman say wow! I learnt to remember something - dignity, kindness and God resides in all. It is all about how consistently we show to others. This engineer showed every single day - while at work and during those Friday late afternoon chats.
