@@XxOzzyBoyx I wrote this in another comment, but I wanted to run the numbers by you since I'm rusty at math: "So I just did the math for 9:48, is the answer -5.75? x squared plus y squared =100, so by taking the square root of both sides you get X + Y = 10 Next, for the xy=18 I divided both sides by x so that y=18/x Subsituting that into the first equation, I got X + (18/x) = 10, so to resolve the fraction I multiplied the entire eqution by X to get 2x +18 = 10x Subtracting 2x from both sides, I got 18 = 8x and dividing both sides by 8, I got an answer of 2.25. With that, I can go back to xy+18 with it now being 2.25(y)=18 and divding both sides by 2.25 to get y = 8. Finally, x-y=? or in this case, 2.25-8= -5.75. Hopefully I got this right lmao"
Substitute 18/x for y in the first equation and you should get x^4 - 100x^2 + 324 = 0. Graph it and find where it crosses the x axis. Picking any of the 4 possible x values gives you x - y ~= 8 or -8 when you plug it back in edit: started with “you are all wrong” but by the time i finished some of you were not wrong

I have some great experiences but I’m the worst story teller ever, I’ve been told I’m a horrible story teller on multiple occasions I’m sad I Can’t tell my life experiences 😢

@@NinjaPickle you don't even need to do it that far just use the expansion of (x-y)^2 just do sqrt(x2 + y2 - 2xy) = x-y = sqrt(100-36) = sqrt(64) = 8 you don't actually need to find x and y to calculate the difference here
@@blaketaylor2499 x^2 + y^2 = 100 2xy = 2(18) = 36 substract this two equations x^2 - 2xy + y^2 = 100 - 36 (x-y)^2 = 64 x-y = 8 or -8 both can be valid due to squaring the difference.
I went through calc 1,2, and 3 just in my past 3 semesters and it took me like 10min to figure it out... and I still got it wrong. High school math is rough, man.
