I was lucky enough to live close to both sets of grandparents growing up, so it wasn't uncommon for my family to visit my maternal grandma just for dinner. And we usually went out with the other grandparents after church on the weekends. I will always cherish those times.

​@@MatthewHyder-hr8uxobviously it's not possible for everyone, but for lot's of people it's the easiest time to gather everyone together to have thst family bonding. If you don't live with your family that usually means you have a family of your own (unless you are a young person renting).

Family dinner is normal. Living with your parents as an adult generally wasn't, though it's becoming common because of economic pressure and lack of housing. The "American Dream" of having a family and owning your own home is dying. Anyways Gura was joking here because of the comment. She might be living with her family again though. Many people do now.

I think she was leaning into the comment to make a joke... but it's always possible. And if so, so what? It's not uncommon anymore and it's a silly thing to judge someone on in 2024.

Economic pressures and lack of housing are making multi-generational households more common. The American Dream is dying. If you have a good career and a home, consider yourself lucky, but don't look down on others that don't. Things can change in an instant. (Losing your job, or health issues or other things outside of your control). The jaw issue is common and I don't think it's usually serious. I think it depends on the cause, but usually all you can do is avoid excessive use like chewing gum or other things.

The American Dream is dying. It's ridiculous to criticize anyone for multigenerational households in 2024. If you have a good career, a job, and a home, consider yourself lucky. But know that things can change in an instant. So be happy and don't look down on others.

@@Bloodstar6078 maybe my comment sounded negative but i didnt mean it that way, as i had to move back with my parents after Covid and bunch of family pasted away super fast...only now im sorta getting back on my feet. but everyone around me is struggling money wise. but we stay fairly close as a family and do gather every sunday to eat together, so everything Goob said is relatable for me.

As far as I know they aren't really related. The jaw popping and crunching is usually related to the size and pressure of the jaw especially between the bones, but don't quote me on that.

It's a physical thing with the jaw where the joint connects. I don't know the exact causes. There could be multiple different causes depending on the situation. I agree it is annoying though, when it happens. It's only occasional for me though.
