Interesting insights - thank you. 👍 Needless to say, THE topic most people will have as their number one concern regarding the Royal Mint is their ongoing quality control issues - so it's a shame that the rep' you spoke to was unable/unwilling to address the points you raised. If there's any follow up contact - PLEASE , please will you press this issue as it's their achilles heel and ought to be their primary focus as it drives many stackers/collectors to distraction!

Agree and shame couldn't get any further on the quality issues, but I will keep trying to push the issue if I have more contact with them. The price matching is a good little thing to know though.

There seems to be around a £150 to £200 price difference between Royal Mint and the cheapest coin dealer. I don't know how the Royal Mint justifies their ridiculous prices to be honest or how they stay in business or why anyone would buy from them when you can shop around and find the same item selling at least £100 cheaper.

I think RM are struggling on many fronts, but the prices on their website are a rip off and some products are so expensive you could call the Royal Mint scammers. I will not go on their website. Also the quality is always debated, for instance the mint do not care about milk spots, but generally many of their products seem to be handled carelessly. I avoid them. Sounds like a meeting to hard sell their products only.

Totally agree some of the "special" sets etc that they have released over the last few months are crazy amounts for coins you can get on eBay for a tenth the cost and a better quality. Milk spots have always been an issue with the mint, one of the reasons I don't really buy silver anymore, if the other mints can fix it then they should be able to as well, but as you say they don't care.

Too many releases devalues all the coins... 50p, for example, most releases mainly NIFC since 2016.. the silverproof coins tone very quickly... mintages too high.. within a weeks of release the value has gone from the coins.. personally i stopped buing the silverproofs and piedfort coins. They milked their markets and the markets collapsed.

Yeah the mint coins struggle with toning and milk spots and they don't seem to care and sort it out

Royal Mint Silver "Quality" control is laughable. Do you really want to buy an expensive proof coin only to have it begin milk spotting? The only way the Royal Mint will address the issue is if sales drop. Don't buy their tat basically.

It is crazy how some coins I've seen leave the royal mint. With my limited silver proofs "touch wood" none seem to have any milk spots but definitely agree their coins are just not up to standard
