Sarah Therése and I are a decade apart in our motherhood journeys, and our different perspectives and experiences made this conversation so interesting. We tackled a variety of topics based on questions we received from you on Instagram, everything from minimalism to pregnancy to homeschooling to business.
Throughout our many topics of conversation, one overarching theme kept resurfacing: as women and mothers, we have the power to make changes in our homes and families when something is not going well. While we cannot control everything, we have the ability to improve things way more than we think! May this conversation be an encouragement to you as you assess your own challenges and endeavor to move forward in boldness!
In this episode, we cover:
How the pace changes from early motherhood into the middle years
Managing the day-to-day responsibilities of motherhood and homemaking by planning ahead
Why owning less stuff is a gift to your children
Pursuing your dream life in your current circumstances
What homeschooling looks like with children of all ages at home
Turning down the noise and finding what rhythms are right for your unique family
Preparing your body and mind for beautiful pregnancies and births
Identifying problems and pursuing solutions in every area of motherhood
The ups and downs of sharing your life and family on a public platform
Deciding when to turn down opportunities in order to prioritize family
How do you know when it is time to quit something?
ABOUT SARAH
Sarah is a stay at home mama of 5 kids and has been married for over 8 years to her childhood sweetheart. She lives on the west coast of Canada and spends most of her time homeschooling her kids, working alongside her husband, Kieran, and being busy overall in homemaking and attempting to create beautiful things.

My favourite part was near the end of the interview when Sarah was candidly talking about how RU-vid was becoming an idol. I’m happy she listened to the Lord and He will definitely bless her for her obedience. This reminds me of the verse: For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Mathew 16:26 RU-vid is not bad but when we decide to place it above the Lord, that’s when we run into trouble as for anything else. Thank you for this interview! Great job Lisa with the questions!

I love what you both said about baby-wearing or not baby-wearing - each mama gets to choose what works best for her and baby. There seems to be a push these days for baby-wearing, but not every mama can do this due to back pain or being overstimulated/needing a break from baby. Great interview. Thank you!😀

Lisa, you are doing a great job at keeping yourself in a positive and edifying light…the respectful and transparent way you transmit your family life to encourage others is a blessing to me. I have learned so much from you…I have no children of my own here in earth but happily married 20 years. So having a husband and having a church family to love on and serve; your videos have been a blessing to me in being able to better understand mommas while encouraging them on their privileged motherhood journey!

Sometimes it's helpful to default to assuming people are genuine and give them the benefit of the doubt . I've known people who I might have first assumed were a bit fake and prideful but it turns out they just have a funny way of speaking when they are nervous and in reality they are the sweetest. So I try to remember this whenever I encounter new people both online and in regular life.

This was a great podcast. It is so refreshing to see this generation of parents putting their children first. It certainly can be done, but women need to be told the truth of their fertility in their younger years! Women are being lied to, to put off reproduction until their 30s. No career is more important than raising the next generation and loving your family ❤
@bobbiek2960
@bobbiek2960 Год назад
@@Happytown7523 I waited because I didn’t find the right one until I was 32. Started trying at 36, found out I had a cyst on my ovary and after removed, I was pregnant in 3 months. I do have an older daughter whom I adopted from my mother’s daycare. I have a 23 & 20, and a 3 year old granddaughter.

@@randomusername704 It's really about health. My mom was 38 and my dad was 52 when I was born. He was healthy. She was not. She had undiagnosed diabetes type 2 (overweight as well), and ended up with gestational diabetes while carrying me. My other two younger siblings didn't make it. She was 43 with a large 40-week stillborn son. You need to be a healthy woman to be a geriatric mother. Most Americans have at least one health issue by their 40s. It's sad but true. We are not the humans of the past. Pregnancy and labor complications are more normal than not. Genetic mutations are way too common at 40+ but even in younger women. Even women in their 20s are having fertility issues. Health has to be upheld as a moral virtue. Some older parents are far too lax as well, but that's another subject.

So cool to see different styles of being a Mom; we are all just so different and have alternate ways of raising kids. I enjoyed raising mine immensely but realized early that they would be adults one day and needed to learn to be responsible people. Tried to encourage learning about these things before they were adults, and of course, the transition from them wanting to grow up and moving out was hard. But as a simple fact of life, kids grow up, become adults, and want to venture out to make their own lives; those skills learned when younger helped them become productive and successful in adulthood, and it feels good to see that. As the person raising, kids copy their parents and often watch us, so they see how we are living our lives to emulate or criticize how we are doing it. Started having kids at 19 too, and we were growing up together and had to learn to listen, not just reprimand and teach skills. Life can be so full and busy during that time of raising; its beautiful no matter how old you are when doing it

34:33 I believe the reason for the adoption process in the first place was you having had a really hard (physically speaking) pregnancy with Elisabeth near the end and your pelvis and back struggled and you had lots of trouble moving and resting. And after that experience you said you didn't want to be pregnant again, but wanted more children so tried going the path of adoption. And since you took the break with the adoption process, it gave you time to heal and refresh yourself and be ready to actually try for more kids yourself. No shame in changing your mind ofc! I think many people say they will have no more kids when they're tired with their first :D I'm just pointing this out to all those mommas who feel like pregnancy did and is taking a toll on their health.

My youngest came 17 months after his birth because I had uncontrolled insulin GD and preeclampsia. I had a uterine window too. :/ Praying the Lord gives us another one in a couple years! As much as I'd love the country life, it's just not in our capacity at this time (especially if we don't want my husband to have a super long commute!). However I do travel 48 min to get raw milk, I source raw cheese, eggs from a friend's farm, make sourdough, sauerkraut, etc from a 1100 square foot rancher in a tiny town. Homeschool my four kids too. It works for us. I'm content. :)

She shaved her head on CAMERA..and appeared desperate as she got close to 1 million subscribers.... I feel like she has some growing to do. I still have not followed her new channel. Just can't unsee her from when she had 400k on her original channel. She seems to fit a quiet life, away from RU-vid as she comes off without layers and seems like an anxious person behind the camera. I get that people change and all..

Sarah is an immature something I can’t say. How dare she talks the way she did about gifts that she received. She should be grateful that people thought about her and her husband for her shower. There is something wrong with her

She was asked about de-cluttering and answered truthfully, there’s nothing immature about it. Sometimes people give gifts that aren’t what you’d choose and they don’t benefit you, there’s no shame in donating it and passing it on to someone who could make better use. I’m sure she was kind and gracious when receiving those gifts and thankful for the gesture. If you’ve kept every single thing given to you over your life, your house is probably pretty cluttered. Your comment was overly critical.

@@breannandcaleb She was rude. You take the gifts gracefully. How would you like it if it was one of your gifts. Someone put there time into it and bought what they could afford. You do t talk about it on a video. !!!! You keep something like that private. She is clueless.

@@patriciacarey6324 I disagree. Her remarks are very helpful to me to let go of stuff I have no use for.

Not everybody is comfortable with keeping eye contact. Actually, most Asians won’t look you in the eye.

or possibly, since this is a video chat, she is looking at Lisa on screen image instead of talking into a tiny camera at the top of her screen.
