First 5 minutes when you were talking about your camera, going to be honest that footage hurts my eyes it’s like slightly blurry/ glitchy looking so maybe this camera isn’t the one 🤔
I think it could just be whatever you are watching this video on. The footage for me is crystal clear and has no glitches in it! I watched on multiple devices, and the video seems good to me😅
THANK YOU for the one hour vlog! And for your constant honesty & candidness for how you've been doing. I feel the February slump hard. You're doing fantastic and leaning into the rest your body and mind needs :) and the house is really coming together!
I talk about this in my next vlog but the issue is I lean into the rest TOO much which is actually the issue- trying to find a better balance between rest and taking care of myself
Hi! I work in healthcare as a genetic counselor and our PTO maxes out at 300 hours, it won’t expire at that point we just can’t accrue more than 300 hours
Ou interesting!!! Yea we don't have a max to acquire but can only carry over 75 hours (we still have so much vacation time from like the few years of Covid where we didn't really go anywhere)
I've been to London and Paris. Paris I've been to twice because I loved it so much. London I wasn't as big of a fan but you might love it. Great video 😊
I loved this vlog and really needed it today ❤️ also I am 29 and still accidentally told someone I was 24 😂 I was like wait that’s definitely not my age
Matt should just do a staycation! Getting paid to stay home and work on projects around the house! You don't have to go anywhere to use your vacation time...
So while I do agree that staycations are a great idea, he has already taken a bunch of time off this winter to do home projects behind the scenes! I think at some point you can start to get a bit burnt out and need a break from a fixer upper and that's what can be really nice about a vacation and getting away. One of the biggest piece of advice we got when buying our home was to not let our life be consumed with home projects- we still want to be able to travel and live your life and not kind of have our life revolves around home renovations (which is why we bought a house below our means so we could continue to travel). Plus like I mentioned we actually already got invited out to California so it's a business trip and a lot of it is already paid for which is a win-win in my eyes, love a budget friendly trip! I'm definitely not opposed to a staycation, but I think we're both just itching to have a break from the house and take a trip especially after being stuck at home all winter! ❤️
@@CarterSullivan Oh for sure! In the context it sounded like he felt like he couldn't take the vacation time without going on a vacation, or having a solid 'reason' to use it, which is why I mentioned it! My husband hates going anywhere and is always taking a random week off to just stay at home lol. I've only been watching you for a month or so, so it seemed to me that you two like to keep busy, which is why I mentioned the projects. :) I would absolutely choose a fun trip too!
I'm turning 38 and I straight think im still 27 ...idk where the last 10 yrs went ...its also my 10 yr anniversary with my man's and im like no its been 3yrs...its been 10...idk how this happened lol
And as someone who lives in Buffalo, NY we have the same type of up and down weather and WOW! It’s a killer for mental and physical health! I’m drowning but just praying spring comes soon enough!
Late to the party on this video lol but just wanted to say this! You actually can’t “train” your hair to be less oily…your oil production is genetic/hormonal, etc. So when people say they’ve trained their hair, they’ve really just trained themselves to care less about the oil 😆. Only chiming in about this because I know SO many people who try so hard and get discouraged that they aren’t seeing results and end up developing dermatitis, and just wanted to spread the wealth on this. I found that out and gave up on the battle, and my hair (washed every other day or more) and scalp have never felt better!
Film person here - it’s not the camera that counts, it’s the person filming! Make sure to adjust your white balance if you aren’t doing so, there’s an auto button on Sonys. Just hold a white piece of paper up to it and it’ll adjust based on lighting when you push the AWB button!
I don't think I'm in a place to share much about it only because tax rules are super different between Canada/US and even from accountant to accountant and I wouldn't want to say the wrong thing and get someone in trouble with their taxes! There are some really great Etsy spreadsheets for bookkeeping (I do mine in Notion though)!
Totally get it, I guess it would be hard to share! It's all so confusing but I love what you have talked about so far. I hadn't even considered changing from sole propieter to cooperation. @@CarterSullivan
I'm sadly only going to be there for a quick few days running a conference for work so I don't get much free time in St John's but going to try and do as much as I can!
Girl, I occasionally message on IG but I’m a long time watcher, first time commenter here (I had to say that) and I just wanted to say that Donato Carrisi is a great author and that was a good shout from Kat! PS you’ve inspired me to start my own RU-vid but being from North West England and a chaotic mum of 2, it’s a lot different from yours 😂
I work in Alberta as an ultrasound tech, but for a clinic - so not under hospital unions. And we get to carry over 1.5 times what we make in vacation a year. So I get 4 weeks off, and could potentially carry over 6 weeks if I actually saved it all. Love how real you are and hope you’re feeling better this week. I was struggling this past weekend too and think that a good part of that is because of the time of year. Maybe next year you and Matt could plan a trip in February? To break up the month and give you something to get you through the end of winter?
So we normally do book a trip for Feb/March (we have every year so far) but with home renos/projects we didn't get around to booking one this year and I'm realizing how much I need that Feb vacation to break up winter for me😅
My husband and I went to Disneyland in January. It was both of our first times and we had so so much fun. We were so sad on our last park day bc we just wanted to keep going. He had never been to a Disney park and I haven’t been to Disney World in 25 years. We were there during some of the record rainfall, but still got really good weather days with sun and temps in the 60s/70s. I hope you and Matt get to go in April!
Sony has settings that are optimized for color correction (greyed out and flat) that will not be shown in the viewfinder if you have a preview filter on. I recall dealing with that when I was trying to take decent photos with the work camera and everything was coming out like shit despite looking okay in the viewfinder. Definitely a learning curve!
thank you for this chatty vlog! love them! have only watched 6 minutes, but i just want say already that i'm sending you love, my girl! slumps are hard. i'm sensitive to the weather as well for my mental health, and i just know how lousy it feels. hang in there! sending you love and rooting for you
I also colour grade but its extremely time consuming now because instead of using 1 LUTS on all my footage I have to adjust each video piece since the yellow varies so much
About your camera colour situation, maybe try adjusting the white balance? Either on your camera or in post - an easy way to do it is to hold up a sheet of white printer paper and on the camera you can set a custom white balance and make it read the paper. Or if you want to do it in final cut instead of messing with the camera, take the footage with the paper and use the white balance eye dropper in the Balance Color section of the Video inspector. It should help the footage with identifying what "pure white" looks like in the footage and adjust the rest of the colours in the footage! (I'm a film editor sorry for the long comment hahaha)
I have already done tons of white balance adjustment and its just a pain to do in post production😅 I even have a white balance card to use when I film clips. I'll defs try that FCP dropper tip though so thank you!! Like I mentioned I just want a camera I can turn on and film on and not worry about it! I admire anyone who is a film editor because I have no patience to do anything in post-prod so kudos to you!!!! I'm a plain jane gal with editing so it's been abit hard to adjust to higher-quality camera!!
It can be! Matt has already taken some time off to do home projects 😊 We did that in our last house but realized very quickly we prefer to do home renos slowly- doing a whole main floor reno in 2 weeks was too much to handle. But we also know how important it is for us to get away from the house and live our life! We'll be doing renos on this home for years and years so taking time off work to renovate doesn't feel necessary since we aren't in a big time crunch! Home renovation burn out is so real and we purposely sold/bought cheaper so we could still afford to take trips and get away from home renovations because they will always be there! We'll be slowly renovating this home for years to come so it's important for us to keep doing fun things as a couple and travel!
As someone who also posts longer vlogs, love seeing others do it too! Such a nice insight (though obviously not everything). Thanks for the hard work, love these vlogs
I had Covid in December and I've been short of breath and chronically congested since, too. It was only about a month ago that I didn't sound like I had a cold when I talked. Have you read John Marrs' books?
