Chaverim responds to hundreds of calls every week, some of them as simple as a flat tire, or a lockout, but some are life threatening situations such as a child locked in a hot car, or an elderly dementia patient who has gone missing.
Chaverim has become an organization we cannot go without; they are instrumental every single day in the lives of so many.
But dear friends! To run an operation on the magnitude of Rockland Chaverim, costs hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.
Their communications system, their fleet of patrol vehicles, command center, rescue trucks and equipment etc., payroll for their non-Jewish Shabbos patrol, all these expenses must get paid somehow.
The responsibility rests solely upon us - the beneficiaries of their services, to foot the bill.
