The singer's performance is absolutely perfect and soul touching. Amazing combination. She looks rugged and sings so passionate with such a perfect emotion.
To anyone complaining about the staging, it makes a lot of sense when seen in the house. The video isn't doing it justice. Usually, I'm a traditionalist when it comes to productions, but I found it to be really beautiful when I finally saw it in person.
+operabilia Thousands? At least according to the comments on this video, there's only one, you. And as someone who saw the entire performance, I, and the audience at the performance, thought it was great. In fact, I'd be more inclined to go to an opera performance if it was directed by the same person (Though I should admit that I never feel uninclined to go to an opera) It's also incredibly unfair to judge the staging of an entire opera on one small excerpt. Just like it would be incredibly unfair to judge an entire opera based upon just a few minutes of the music.
I have also seen the entire performance! As many others (maybe not thousands, I admit!) The more the staging is intrusive, especially in such a classical work and the more it destroys the very essence of the opera. Stage work should be done in full respect of the libretto, the text, the drammatic plot .... Was this the case here? Not in my opinion, as it is certainly not the case in too many opera houses today.
