hi this is just what i was looking for , my sister in-law recently passed and i'm making a bench for her for our garden , i know i should use tanalised wood but what screws should i use ? thx great job
Sorry to hear about your sister-in-law, there have been quite a few people that have made this bench for memorials. As for the screws just a good deck screw will be fine. The closest thing I have done to a tree truck table would be this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tNdz4fPacpM.html but for holding a coffee or beer you could easily get away with a piece of truck that has nice parallel cuts and put your favorite sealer on it.
@@KuipersAdventures thx for that i really appreciate it , i'll have a look at the link now , i've sort of semi retired now and love messing round making things , i'll give you a shout if i need you ha ha , thx bud
I have watched a few diy bench videos and I did not feel confident enough to actually build one. After watching your video and seeing how you made the process so simple.. I think I can do it!! By far the best diy bench video, thank you very much!!!
I made this bench in about four hours. I modified it to fit my needs and absolutely love it. I just watched several times and drew it the width, length and height I wanted. Thank you for making this easy..
I've built things in the past with plans from Ana, lost her over the years, glad to discover she is still going strong. Good, easy, quick and easy projects. Glad I found your site again.
This is the second piece I've done of hers , she has a great eye for design and making it simple to follow along. I'm glad you found her back though this video!
Thanks for posting this - a great sturdy bench and beautiful stain. I just finished building it and have sanding and staining left, your video and links were very helpful!
My hubby built this bench this past Saturday. It’s so cute!!!! It was more like $200 not $50. Worth it. He would have liked to see the sizes of each wood on the video as you were grabbing them to assemble. But all good. He managed. Thank you for this video.
Unfortunately lumber prices have gone up quite a bit in the last few months, it was right at $50 when I built it. that number wasn't just pulled out of thin air for click bate. I wish I could go back and re edit the video and add sizes to everything but unfortunately youtube doesn't let you do that. I'm glad he got it done you guys will be able it enjoy it for a long time to come!
Its a very good looking bench for how simple it is! 2x6 on the arm rests would definitely be nice, you could even cut a cup hole in it to make it even better!
Awesome video! Gonna be building one in the next few weekends. Got some other projects I need to get to first. I'm a first time and this vid was perfect for me
Welcome to the channel, take a look around! We're giving away a really cool cutting board from the latest video! The bench i built will be going on its second winter and still looks fantastic, as long as its sealed up well it should last a long time!
If you click the link it gives fairly good instructions and cut sizes. I'll update my description tonight with a material list and cut sizes. Thanks for the feed back I'll do better one the next one!
Your welcome! If you can wait to build it I would, the lumber prices are insanely high right now. This is a great and easy project if you can keep the cost down!
Great project, just my advise would be to use the speed square to make sure your corners are square, use clamps to hold pieces together when you build alone, and pre mark and counter sink your screw holes before you assemble. Makes assembly a lot easier. For anyone putting it out doors , maybe use pressure treated lumber , but this would increase the price . Cheers
I`m retired and have a small shop where I perform woodturning, create musical instruments, and some cabinetry. I have a shelf full of woodworking textbooks - but I found this woodworking guide, t.co/oLg9l5gL3F . The comprehensiveness of this book is surprising. It has decent coverage on every topic.?
Wow, that's beautiful. I especially like the straight back. All of the outdoor benches and chairs I've seen in stores have backs that are slanted. That slant is VERY uncomfortable because I'm always leaning back. I'm going to give this project a go:) Thanks for the clear instructions. Love that color stain too.
Thanks for the comment I'm glad you liked it! I'm the opposite of you I find the straight back slightly uncomfortable. This is a fairly easy bench to put together I hope yours turns out great!
@@CarlosAlberto-qm4ih I'm glad it helped! I wish my video skills would catch up to my woodworking skills and make these a little more enjoyable to watch haha.
Just made this over the weeked! It is a very sturdy bench...Thanks for the info! (PS. We made it in memory of our Dog who we had to put down this last Tuesday)
I have a dog that spends time in my backyard, and loves to chew on wood. I would like to craft a tiled wooden bench using the existing metal frame from the old bench. Any ideas/suggestions? Thank you!
@@KuipersAdventures actually i want to build drawers that looks like a buffet drawers to fit in my walking closet 30 cm depth hights about 50 cm and 2 meter width
@@markkosseifi7120 that would look really nice! In a couple of months I'm going to start on making some dressers and TV stands out of hard wood because the price of pine construction lumber is getting way to high around my area. After my divorce is final I hope to start uploading more videos of doing some nicer woodworking.
I'm not sure to be honest, I would probably charge material plus around $60 to build it. I don't have a very good handle on what things like this are going for in today's market.
Great video, sir! Love the wood stain. I’m house-hunting currently in Alaska and am already looking up ways to jazz up a backyard… Being that the legs are just 2x4, how much weight would you estimate this could hold seating? Thanks!
That shouldn't be an issue, you would just have to shorten all of the long boards down to the size you want. I would imagine it would be a very sturdy bench shorted up.
If you have any questions feel free to ask . There is a link in the description that has really good written instructions and this is a great bench to make for a beginner!
Nice work man. This will be my first time building something where I go buy the wood & stuff. I have to do it to learn n get use to it. . I’m a expert at building stuff with instructions like beds s counters for my nephews . Lol so I think it will be a nice n smooth. What do you add first when you paint and what did you add after?
I used a stain and polyurethane to finish this with, if your going to paint it I would just give it a light sanding with some 180 grit and use a good exterior paint.
Kuipers Adventures I just finish it . Cane out good as my first project ever . Lol I really appreciate it man . What can I put where the wood pop up? I took scrrrws our couple times to adjust stuff and some chips pop up. Any type of filling I can use ? It like wood chips that became small crack or poped off .
