Cheap and Quick Van Buildout (BASIC)

Hey everyone!! My first ever post about the van on youtube. I did this build back in January before I started my full time job. I used to work in Chicago but I had enough of the city and wanted to live in a van. This Ford Transit Connect is the only thing in my price range as I am trying to keep this a low cost project.
I am looking at this as more of my starter van, hoping I like the van life. I know I will since I have been planning to do this for like the past 4 years. But yeah I had no real plan when building this and kind of just made it up as I went.
This video is not a fancy sprinter van video with all of the fun stuff. It's literally so basic and is pretty much just a bed on wheels. I am hoping to be out of the van and in nature most of the time, which is why it is so small.
I plan to be back in the beginning of may to build out the drawers and kitchen storage underneath. It was just so cold in that garage I couldn't build anymore. If you have any questions on how I did things just leave a comment and I hope I can help. I am not a professional at all, just learned some things from my dad and youtube videos.
Thanks for watching!!

Love this, very entertaining. It’s obviously not perfect. But you’ll learn along the way. Like other commenters have said, kilmat is something that would’ve been a good idea. As well as under the bed ventilation if you plan on closing off the bed. I personally wouldn’t have went with spray foam. But when you start staying in it, you’ll learn what works, what doesn’t, and what you want. It’s always best to start simple so you can make changes as you live in it. I’m excited to see more videos from you. Best of luck.

"SO this is what it looks like when a 14yo gets to play with power tools and goes into cabinet making! " BTW> You don't use a grinder to cut Masonite or any other wood. It's strictly for metal. LOL Still highly entertaining. Rather than take out that perfectly molded factory ceiling and throw it in the bin. Why didn't you just use that super lightweight ceiling? The expanding foam would have worked great if you put a stick across the van and put pressure on that wall. It does create what's known as a 'closed cell foam' that makes for perfect insulation. But that stuff is really expensive! I'm definitely interested in Part II-X.

You are gonna wish you applied sound deadening like Kilmat. And some air vents for bed base. Needs air circulation or your susceptible to mold. Other than that looks awesome!
