It has an HDMI connection so it should be able to do so. The only thing is that i can’t remember if it does a clean feed over HDMI. It may with magic lantern. But on top of that you will need an HDMI capture card because I’m pretty sure the canon webcam software does not support older cams like the EOSM
Small camera is a first step to get away from your cell phone and start having more control over your images and videos. Canon EOS M certainly looks very interesting.. I don't think you ever came to terms with NOT having it in your life and that's why it came back to you ;)
Was about to put my Eos M on Ebay as I don’t really use it. It became redundant when I got an iPhone straight after I bought it and although I’ve always known its potential I’ve never tapped into it. This video has stopped me listing it and I’m going to use it. Thanks. I would’ve regretted it.
The link in your description for the Helios lens says it’s for canon, if I got a Canon M6 & M50 with that EF to EF-M adopter, do I need anything else for the helios lens to work? Found channel today, awesome content man!
My question is how do you white balance on this camera when lighting with different light temperatures. If you can’t use custom Kelvin settings how do you get warm orange lights contrasted with a cool window light as opposed to neutralizing one which drastically saturates the other. Like balancing to tungsten in the room but now the windows are completely blue bexazue of that
I found you from ZEEK! Your video is clean! I'm upgrading to a z-cam e2, but I love the challenge the EOS-M presents and how gratifying it is when paired with Magic Lantern to get a beautiful image. Loved your review.
Welcome! I have seen some good thing about the Z Cam e2. I am timid to try to pick one up just cause of quality. That fear has no foundation as, again, i have seen great reviews on them. But hey the EOSM is cheap enough to say “why not both?” 😂
@@Ansonandco I feeeeeel you on that in terms of the quality factor of the Zcam-e2. I was looking at the BMP4K butttt I'm not a fan of the "look" lol I'm a little superficial. I figure they are on the same level to a degree. I never owned a 4k cinema cam, so this is a welcomed upgrade for me. All I've owned were Canon Rebels and the EOS M. I've worked with REDs just could never afford em. BUT YES why not both, it's sooooo cheap and does 14 bit RAW that I can upscale and seeing what Zeek has done...I didn't feel the need to upgrade...but I did behind the scenes for a music artist with the eos cam, and that was when I knew it was time.
Oh absolutely! Don’t get me wrong i think this is a great camera for the price. But it is definitely one that is either a entry level cam into cinema or a budget option. I think anyone can get good quality images out of these cameras, but there is a reason i don’t own just this camera. If i were taking to a pro shoot i would not be picking this camera over my a7iii.
M3 has a flip screen and just somewhat more expensive than the M. A flip screen will not only show if you are in frame, but also if you are well lit, in focus, etc. so I think that would be a great help. The only issue is the hot shoe becomes unusable with the flip screen up, but there are workarounds.
This is great. I recently jumped ship off the mirrorless game back into a FF DSLR but found that I am missing a lot in my 6D due to the lack of AF. Knowing what the 6D can do, would you still suggest picking up something like an EOS M?
nice, good info on this lens i will have to pick one up for my EOS-M I just got recently. I am also using magic lantern, the latest build support a lot more new features, 48fps is one of them.
@@Ansonandco I got mine for $350 on Facebook with 2 original batteries and 1 Chili Power Battery, original box, 2 SD with DaVinci 14 and manuals etc. If you get it for $500 does't make sense, I sold mine just 2 weeks ago for $600 with Cosmicar 12.5mm F/1.9 and Cage. I got the BMMCC ( Micro ) like new for $750 in NY. it's a beast! Same sensor BUT 60 Fps and a wonderful Form factor because the Monitor of BMPCC in outdoor is useless and now with just 2 LP-E6 I can make the shooting for half day.
Thanks for the info! I understand what you mean about people using Slow Motion too much. I feel the Same about people using "Epic".. 99% of things described as "epic" are not much better than Average lol..
I would love to tell you but it came with the camera, so I don’t know the specific handle. But it’s just a generic wooden side handle mounted to the cage.
Hey Great video, I bought the helios and the eos m but I am confused with wich adapter lens to buy, because the helios came with a m 42 adapter but the screw is too big for the camera. What do you recommend?
@@Sait3.50 I mistakenly gave you an incorrect answer, from what I'm seeing. Here's what RU-vidr IMCE (Colin) says, who has answered someone asking the same question as you: "I got the m43 [micro four-thirds] to EF, it's a thin adapter that screws on. Then I just use dummy adapter or speedbooster." You may want to cancel your Amazon order, and then only order an adapter when you are 100%, after doing more research. I'm still researching this issue, as I have an EOS M2 arriving soon, and I too would like to someday purchase the Helios 44-2. 😁☮️
Great video just bought the canon EOS M50 and I like it a lot, 4K, 24fps, etc, looking to add magic lantern to it, but not yet, want to test it to the max first. Thank You!
Hey do you have any recorders? I wonder what would the camera do if we connect a blackmagic design video assist, ninja v or a shogun 7 to it. If you have a recorder, please pls make a video and show what this camera can do
I actually don’t use any recorders. And I actually don’t own the EOSM any more. But that would be an awesome video. Maybe we’ll have to rent some gear and test it out at some point.
Hello could you help me? I have a Canon 60D and with Magic lantern in raw 1728x735 it records only 10 seconds and a configuration I got from a guy on the internet, h.264 at 3.0x bitrate At 1920x1080 24 fps with cinestyle, do you think should I sell my 60d to purchase an EOS M To be able to record using also the Magic lantern in 2.5k raw continuous ? Do you think the EOS M is superior
According to Zeek you get much more stable record times on the EOS M. I did the ML 50D back in the day and 10 second hit or miss clips was a pain although 14bit raw was gorgeous. The ML hack for fast SD cards is impressive. Just snagged a EOS M & will setup for 2.7k letterbox for sure. File size is hunka hunka big... DNG file management & proxies are still in play fyi... I have a 60D too that really isn’t good for ML(720p maybe?)
Battery life has definitely be a hurdle. But my biggest struggle with M has been landing focus. The autofocus is way outdated and the LCD screen is misleading. But an electronic view finder for another $129 would fix that. Still love the M, and it even feels sturdier than my M50
@@Ansonandco yes, magic lantern is great. It's also touchy though, I've had to remove and reinstall it a couple times. The focus peaking definitely helps though
But yeah dude i agree outside of focus peaking it is a little hard to nail focus. I have to use my feel world monitor that also has peaking. What lens do you primarily use for it?
Jacob Anderson i need to check out the 15-35. The EOSM is like my third string body at this point but i need to invest in some glass for it. Might have to check it out.
@@Ansonandco Filming their hunting experiences during season to turn into stories to share with YT / Family and friends. The body has to have IS. Still on the hunt for a cheap rig with IS for him. Thoughts?
Honestly something with internal IS i think you are either looking at a used body or over 1k or both lol. What about a non stabilized body but a stabilized lens. For years i vlogged with a Sony a6300 (not stabilized) and either the kit lens cause it has OSS or the 18-105 as a step up. Honestly if you wanted to with a cheaper body like this just get a decent IS Lens for it. I would even recommend that more than an a6000 because this has a mic jack. Just bring spare batteries.
I just checked. There is a kit lens for the EOSM line from Sony that is a 15-45 f3.5-6.3 and is stabilized. New it’s $300 but I’m sure you can find a deal on a used one. Not great aperture range but still probably let them get into a system for under $500 Another option if they want to spend a little more is canon m50! Might be the best budget 4k option they have.
@@Ansonandco My friend is huge with the body IS situation... I'm with you on the lens IS part. For sure. Also, the battery thing was a bummer, thank you for touching on that. Imagine a hunter worrying about batteries all day haha... So that was literally the deal breaker for me/ him. I recommended better bodies out there, but the budget is a thing. IS lens is where hell have to spend the money on, plus, better glass, better footage.
Can't believe it, but just today I've realized that I'm in possession of something pretty significant. Have had the camera for a few years and never really exploited it and was thinking of upgrading. But so many people are touting this camera; I need to get to know it better.
