Canister Filter DoPhin CF300
Price- RM53 = USD 13 (not 30)
Finally, I get my hands on a canister filter. It's my first time trying out a canister filter. And this is my first time trying to record and do a voice over with English. I am really curious about how my English level working for me. I'm still deciding whether the channel to focus on speaking English or Chinese. Your comment does help out a lot letting me know how much of my audience speak English or Chinese. Thank You.

I cut half of the foam and leaving behind just one carbon. Substituted them with white filter wool and filled the rest of the compartment with lava rock and ceramic rings. Yes, this CF300 will leak if tilted.

neat, thank for you comment. I think i may remove all of the carbon because active carbon isnt nessesary for my tank but i will keep the "frame" to hold still new white wool and the bio block with more ceramic ring.

The only downside of a canister filter is the possibility of leaking if not tighten properly

What if you put some white tape around the opening like the one used for pipes? Does it leak?

Did you noticed the bio ball is at the water inlet and sponge at water outlet? Why is it so? Would the dirt stuck in the bio ball without a physical sponge or wool pad filter?

I also have the same question at the beginning, apparently the bio ball is acting as a physical filter to block off big particle and the, sponge at the outlet is acting as a bio filter, but you can take out and put in other stuff depend how you like it.

@@cheehin_6960 using Bio ball as physical filtering? That sounds strange and unlikely more efficient than using filter wool or sponge? Anyone else doing this? Must be a valid reason for doing this way

@@AZHAOWEI You can put in reverse order like i did..from inlet pass wool then cartridge then bio media..this will make good microorganisms survive better as most dirt already being filtered..this is dophin design flaw that they miss to correct but still can work if we got knowledge.

did u fill up the filter before using？ if still not working try to take off the top n try to see if the motor fan still working？

Try filling water into the intake pipe then only turn on the filter, it should work

Yeah, any filter helps, but still need to keep up the water change.

I’m planning to buy this filter and I’m curious to know if the water flow is to strong for my 1.5 ft planted tank. Also can we fit a glass lily pipe and glass intake to replace the plastic one? Currently I’m using an Aquaclear 20 HOB filter but I guess there isn’t enough space to fit more bio media for a decent filtration in my 54L tank.

its not a very big n powerful filter😅i dont think it can handle a glass lily pipe because the filter cant be place too low under the tank so im currently hiding it behind the tank

Hi this filter is able to place beneath the tank. Im currently using the same canister filter with lily pipes. In order for the filter to work just make sure to prime the canister filter to give additional boost for the filter to work. My method is to use siphon pump and pump out the air at the out take.

No, you can't change the water outflow but you could put something in front of it to weaken its out flow

you can still try to use the rainy outlet pipe depend on your fish type. If the outflow is too strong they will tend to hide more.

Finally bought it, and quite quiet.👍🏻👍🏻 For leaking cause from uneven lock from cap, we need to recap it while press harder from top cap until the 4 nuts auto move in, then firm the 4 nuts again. ( this work for me without leaking) 🤣🤣

can u fit the bio block inside the canister? after rmoving 2 of the carbon partition?

no, the bio block is too tall and too long to fit in it. i will have to cut it down to fit it in. i will be doing that after using the carbon for a month later.
