Good idea...just thought of an idea to make one without a m12 battery. hook it up to the battery on the atv. all my power equipment has battery tender connections, so i can just put the pump and a switch on a board with a battery tender cord powering it. Wonder if you could rig up an M18 / M12 charger / battery to run a 12 v pump. they have chargers that charge m12 and m18. and use the 120v cord (battery and corded - not at same time). The charger probably has some safety feature to bypass though
Just came across your video, I made a video comparing diffrent pumps and this $12 pump works great with the M18 Battery. Good idea with the old charger!
need to add a low voltage cutoff to the circuit so you protect your batteries. Also looks like you laid your soldering iron power cord on the iron towards the end when you placed it back in the holder lol
Need to be careful doing stuff like this with m12 batteries. The m12 tools have the battery protection circuits in them, not the batteries, so if you discharge the battery to too low of a voltage the charger will not change it because it is a fire risk to change an over discharged battery. M18 and most other power tool batteries have the over discharge protection incorporated into the battery and will not let you over discharge it.
Why do you state that it's gonna break (fail) i have one for about one year on my oil burner and it pumps 100% used motor oil in cold climate, works great to push oil to my furnace, it's best to mount the pump as low as possible because these pumps push.
I have a dead m12 soldering iron. Could I take that apart and I guess just use the prongs inside of the handle that go into the battery into something similar like this?? Or is the PCB of the charger needed? Looks like you’re just tapping right into the 12v source ignoring the rest of the PCB.
Why go through all that trouble? Toss the board and wire the pump straight to a fuse,switch and pump. It should be fused and the fuse block intrinsic to the board is both non replaceable and on the 120v primary.
I have destroyed 3 of the wand 'D' cell pumps. I also destroyed 2 of the $10 drill pumps from Harbor Freight. The wands are so low quality that words fail me. The power switch dies, gas gets into the battery compartment and kills them. Poor connections everywhere. Total rubbish. Then I see this. Great idea but I don't have a spare charger to tear up. Also the pump you are using I seriously wonder how long that will last. Tons of pump "kits" available on Amazon for outrageous prices. Same pump. Plenty of bad reviews too. I think it is the gasoline that is the problem. It kills the impeller blades on the HF ones. I would love to know how much you use yours and if it held up. ps I use mine to move gas from the 5g container to my generator and I live off grid. So I am a heavy user.
