These longer 20+min vids are really nice. Love the camping vids✌️I think some sound deadening on the roof and the floor would help to keep the heat in during winters and to keep the heat out during summers.
I’d also recommend getting a clear tint over the rear windows. I know when you got it tinted your mate said it “comes tinted” from factory - it’s not tint it is just a colour in the glass so you don’t get the heat retaining properties that tint has. Trust me - you’ll notice the difference!
Nice dude!! I built out my 4xe a lot like this. I pulled the back seats out completely and built a plywood deck to lay flat. I've got a 52qt cooler for food storage, a Jackery battery pack with solar panles to power my electronics, a blackstone griddle for cooking, and a solo stove for campfires anywhere I go. I've got storage under the plywood deck and seats for clothes, dry food, window curtains, etc and an LED string of lights around the bars for light. I've spent about 10 nights in it, and it works great! I'll definitely watch your channel for more camping content
Definitely going to need to run a bigger panel, try for atleast a 100watt. Check out renogy for a good priced and quality panel. You may also want to run a dc2dc charger that way when driving it'll charge the leisure battery.
I have a 2014 jk , I bought window covers for privacy/weather control. I also bought these back window vents for air flow and condensation reduction. I have a jackery power station that I use for a heating pad at night but I love the auxiliary batter tub idea. I’ll have to integrate that into my set up. I have a twin inflatable mattress but it’s quite big and doesn’t leave a whole lot of space for my other gear. Great ideas to help play around with. Thanks for the ideas
Hi Robbie, followed the channel for a while now and love the camping videos! I convert campervans in the UK and would recommend looking into a 100ah lithium leisure battery, the performance with solar is amazing and battery life is way better! (30-50% more usable capacity over a standard lead acid). Also worth looking at MPPT charge controllers and a slightly bigger panel for charge efficency, also look for a dc-dc split charge system that will charge the liesure battery when the starter battery reaches a certain voltage (Does not allow drain to starter battery). Finally worth having a 120v (240v hear in uk) socket hidden under sideskirt or at rear so you can plug in and charge when at home. Hope some of these pointers help, advise we usually give to customers and use ourself when building camper electrical systems, any questions drop me a message, more than happy to help!!
Hey Robbie. I'd recommend a Solar Generator for you off grid power needs. Like a Jackery or Bluetti, lithium battery inside with built in power invertor and outputs. It's what all the overland or van life people are using.
A lot of people on jeeps because of that weird gap in between the seat and the cargo space is they take rear seats out entirely and build a platform for the back there so it’s level, and with your setup there just make a notch for your boxes/ cooler. Also i think you have it right there but at least on my xterra I have more room on passenger side than the driver side for sleeping
Loving these longer videos, especially the camping stuff. It’s really made me want to finally start using my car for what I bought it for about 4 years ago and brought my interest back to wanting to camp and off-road. Keep up the amazing work!
This is so sick. I love camping stuff combined with car stuff, I wish I could do both more myself! A RU-vidr I watch named 'Mav' camps in the (covered) bed of his f150, and used the buddy heater too, it works well in that size of space.
Love the longer videos especially the ones that in my area of expertise I am a 12V accessory fitter / auto electrician defiantly an awesome set up my only concern is the battery, It looks like a deep cycle lead acid which the only issue is they can vent gases (hydrogen sulfide gas) which is flammable and not very good to breath in, I would recommend a AGM/GEL battery as they are dry, added benefit is they last longer and cycle better also another thing is to make sure the solar panel is regulated most 12v solar panels put out 18V unregulated which would fry the battery. once again love the videos and stay committed.
If the battery is In a sealed box are there still issues with gasses assuming there is lots of room around it like there is in the box that robbie has?
One of the cool thing about RU-vid is that we have a plethora of help and inspiration for our hobbies and adventures. Thanks. Now that you have had the set up for awhile, any updates?
You can get an isolator and use some Anderson plugs for a quick disconnect to be able to charge that battery off your Jeep's charging system without risking drawing down the starting battery
The self inflating mattress. When you undo black valve, you can actually put mouth around valve and blow it up. But when you take mouth off need to screw valve close fast. Not sure if your supposed to be I have for years 🤣
You should really try hammock camping. It is so much more comfortable compared to a tent or air .mattress, they are super small and easy to stuff anywhere. There are also hitch base hammock swings in the even you are at an area with no trees.
Robbie you have to look into the Milwaukee packout kits I swear you’ll won’t regret it for storage uses tbh it’s a little expensive but worth it look into it trust
I have the same Battery booster as you. Bought a Swiss Army nylon shaving/toiletry bag at Winners and store it and cables in there. Fits nicely in the groove next to roll bar in back hatch above wheel well :)
Yo Robbie!! Instead of folding your air-mattress, push the seat forward all the way and lean it forward, just pull the mattress up a bit and you’ll be golden!
I've seen other people going off grid or campers using marine deep cycle batteries for power. I'm no expert but from what I understand it's not great to discharge too much those regular car batteries. There are some batteries that can be discharged and recharged without losing too much capacity. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
I love your content, keep doing whatever suits you best, it's all good for me! You could even do a video of you painting a trash can and I'd be interested 😂 You rock seriously!
If you wanted to take out all the seats leave the drivers seat put the rails that they slide on go all the way back and put them in the floor so the rails arnt in the way and you got so much more room
Love seeing these videos, my gf and I have been going to a couple of Ontario provincial parks this winter and camping, so interested in seeing the camping videos 😊
I just got around to watching this. A recommendation for the tablet mount, QuadLock Car Mount with a universal stick on attachment. Super nice phone/tablet mount
I have used the mr heaters inside a vehicle while sleeping.. I wake up and its off. The sensor works really well for low oxegen but to keep it on I had to crack a window. Then it stayed on until the propane was empty. Used it for 2 years so far,
Don't know if you can get them in Canada but an opus air camper would be ideal. I first got a look at one on RU-vid being dragged around Australia on some insane off road tracks and I've been dragging mine around for 2 years and it's amazing for every situation
Use black out curtains, just cut them to size and use strong magnets to hold them in place, works like a gem in my wrangler. How did you mount the tablet?
New suscriber 🙌 I love your content ..I got a lot catching up but I'll get it done ✔️ I own a jeep same color as yours but 2 door and I needed videos like yours to get ideas 💡 thanks for sharing everything with us 🙌🙌
HI ROBBIE, ALL THE WAY FROM AUSTRALIA. ID LIKE TO SUGGEST , EVEN THOUGH YOUR RECOVERY GEAR FITS NICELY IN THAT LITTLE NOOK I SUGGEST LEAVING IT SOMEWHERE EASIER TO ACESS AT ALOT OF THE TIME WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST YOU EITHER CANT OPEN THAT DOOR , TAILGATE ECT, MOVE STUFF TO GET TO IT BECAUSE YOUR IN A AWKWARD POSITION , I KEEP MINE UNDER THE PASSANGER SEAT IN A CANVAS BAG STRAPPED TO THE UNDER SIDE OF THE SEAT , A FIRE extinguisher TOO
Awesome glad to see you got some of the stuff I recommended still don't see the military artic sleeping bag it will be your best investment over anything else you purchased. Unless you have a gel battery you will be okay. Other batteries need venting do to acid. So you could use yellow top and red top batteries which princess auto sells. And with the buddy heater roll down your windows a crack so you don't die.
@@RobbieFerreira that’s good the military ones are good to -50 plus I used to winter camp often from Boy Scouts sleeping in a lento to just last year I spent three weeks camping in my suv. I was the one warm and sleeping in my undies while everyone else froze as a Boy Scout.
RENOGY IS A GREAT AFFORDABLE BRAND FOR 12VOLT GEAR EG BATTERYS CHARGERS ECT... ITS ALL PLUG AND PLAY AND SIMPLE, LITHIUM IS YOUR BEST BET TOO , LIGHT WEIGHT AND VERY VERSATILE / LONG LASTING
Loving the videos dude, I saw the packaging on the solar panel and I'm curiouos, living in Canada do you also speak French, a little bit, or is like English all the time there?
Hi Robbie. Just some constructive critism. A little less waffling and repeating otherwise you have the makings of a good videographer anc im sure you will go far. All the best from London, UK.
Enjoying the Jeep content, nice change from the car building, which you can't do much with due to all the snow you have! How's Chris getting on since he went back to his old job?
Hey what did you use in the gap between the front row and back row to keep your bed from folding into the floorboard. I've been looking for a solution for that
