Men playing with little boys. Cheap Trick with Ben E. Carlos was one of the strongest live acts in rock. Bon Jovi was not in the same class as the Trick. Ever. And certainly not here. Cheap Trick is finally in the RRHOF. Now I can sleep at night.
Cheap Trick is still my favorite band. I met them at a Delaware club in 96 with a meet and greet. I was able to get all their autographs on an old Budokan photo. I looked like a roadie with ripped jeans and a leather jacket standing next to Rick Nielsen. I still get goosebumps from when they shook hands with me.
@@georgejetson1025they're still good, though. it's not "dinosaur" hits, it's good music. besides, Ain't That a Shame is a legendary rock and roll song from the 50s.
@georgejetson Says the man who apparently has probably never been to a CT concert or know any of their 20 plus albums with another one on the way🙌, change up their set list every show,, keeping the hits in for casual fans, and this was a jam session where they played familiar favorites everyone could enjoy their Rock on, and previous to this Cheap Trick and Robin performed an amazing hour and a half show themselves with many deep cuts🙌✨🏁🖤
I love how Robin takes charge and motions to Jon sing the next verse, and then Robin grabs the mike stand seeing that Jon is unsure where to go. Robin then calls out the breaks and jumps in with his strong vocal. Robin controls the mike because he knows Jon is still unsure and gives a primal scream where Jon has a look on his face of "how did you do all that?"
This is what the world of music has missed for too long. Amazing artists like Bon Jovi and Cheap Trick who love music because it's music. Not just because their record label pays them to perform.
Lots of testosterone out there😁😁😁😁Look at my boys out there 😍😍Robin wasn't even breaking a sweat, his vocals shone so bright 😍And Bun E stutted his stuff for sure 👍👍👍👍👍
The young Bon jovi was sent to school and Professor Zander graciously showed him what a triple Doctorate in vocal and command of the stage will do for a performance.I love how Robin has to tell Jon when to come in, and then Robin takes complete command of the mic and vocal,( "I gotta cobra for a neck tie) with his strength in his vocal. Rick smiles big knowing his "Man" is making CT shine. Jon looks shocked that CT took over the song.
Looks like he's wearing a parachute suit. He gets away with it, cause he looks cool and relaxed. They look like big brother and little brother having a time on stage.
Those 80's hair rockers were not able to step up to the plate here. They looked like immature kids standing in with pros here. They should have just stood there playing tambourine or clapping their hands or something basic and let CHeap Trick handle the songs
Robin Zander's vocal abilities far outshine the rest. Back then, in the late 80s he was in top form. Who cares what he was wearing? Rock stars are eccentric sometimes. It's all good. Robin was the sexiest man alive back then. Now he's a rock legend ❤CT❤
they sure did need a lot of help before Lap of Luxury was released. the band was at rock bottom and needed outside writers to get on the radio and sell records. all these "hair bands" are huge fans but CT was desperate in 1988 and then, 'The Flame' went to #1
@@javtimestwo Well CT had a hand in writing 6 of the 10 songs on that record. And of course Don't be Cruel written way before CT existed. It's not like they didn't have anything to do with the record.
I stood in line in 1989 to get Jon Bon jovi's autograph at a mall in rockford IL with rick nielsen's son daxx. A chick passed out when they got to get their picture signed and he kissed her on the cheek - the paramedics were there and I was freaked the F out from all the craziness. I had no idea who Bon Jovi was at the time.
Steven Funk I think Jon resorted to trying to get the audience to sing along once it was clear that trading vocal licks with Robin probably wasn't his greatest idea. RZ made him sound like an amateur, and I actually like JBJ....on his own songs.
I absolutely love Bon Jovi, but I have to agree he was waayyy out of his league on this song, if it wasn't for Richie singing what Jon wanted the audience to sing, he really would have flat, He was young, and if given the chance to do this again, I think he could do better than this.
